Omni Arts Escondido specializes in personalized instruction in Dance, Martial Arts, Yoga, and Foil Fencing. We offer ballet, tap, jazz, hip-​hop, lyrical, Celtic, belly dance, hula, Tahitian and Flamenco dance styles. We offer Tai Chi, Hung Gar, Wing Chung, Ba Qua and weapon forms as part of our martial arts program. We offer ashtanga yoga and restorative yoga techniques. We also offer foil fencing technique classes. We work patiently and joyfully with children, teens and adults.

History

Established in 1981.

We have been in business in Escondido, California for over 33 years. We started our business as Escondido Kung Fu and Tai Chi. We then expanded to include On Stage Dance. Soon after that we added on Escondido Yoga. Later we added our Foil Fencing Classes. Omni is a prefix for the word omniscient or all pervading. Under the guidance of Sifu John Vihilidal and Simu April Vihilidal the school is now called Omni Arts Escondido. This name, Omni Arts Escondido, is now appropriate as the school encompasses the many and varied aforementioned physical disciplines that are now taught at the school, located at 131 South Orange Street, Escondido.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

John J. Vihilidal was born in Germany and came to America as a young child. He started his martial arts training at the age of ten. He is a philosopher, a psychologist, an avid reader, an artist as in painting and sculpturing. He loves working with people and teaching people get in touch with their own true self and their inner guides. He always says, ‘I will not give you bread. Rather, I will teach you to plant the seeds, grow your own grain and then to bake the bread yourself.’ He also says, ‘I will not give you fish, I will teach you how to fish.’ The later statement is metaphorical only. Sifu John has been a vegetarian since the age of ten.
