Instructor Dan Gibbons has been teaching for over 20 years and is an award winning choreographer and a professional competitor.

Dan’s patient lighthearted approach makes leaning fun and easy.

History

Established in 1991.

Dan Gibbons started teaching in his hometown of San Jose CA in 1989 at the California Dance Club. Dan moved to London England in 1990 to train and was hired in 1991 to teach back in California, this time in San Diego at Champion Ballroom Academy where he taught until 1993. Dan decided to try living in the Northwest and move to Seattle where he taught at the Washington Dance Club and WWU. Homesick for California again Dan moved back to San Diego in 1998 and has been teaching throughout San Diego County since. Dan and his students have won many awards including winning California Open Professional Showdance Champions in 2011 with partner Miki Jennings for a dance to the Beattle’s song «Imagine» wich Dan created.

Now Dan is busy with his group glasses and private lessons and still has fun performing and perfecting his skills.

You can find Dan most days dancing and teaching at Champion Ballroom in San Diego.

Dan Gibbons has always loved to dance. His parents recognized his talents and put him in dance classes as a teen. Dan was recruited to teach at his dance school and compete in International Latin with one of the studios highest ranked dancers. Much like running away with the circus Dan has had a life filled with costumes and music always going to a party and truely having a ball. Dan is still actively perfecting his craft and takes weekly coaching with a former world champion as well as other masters in the field. Dan knows what its like to be a student and a teacher. Dan’s never stop learning philosophy is an inspiration to his students. Among Dans favorite activities are walking his dogs Donatella and Gianni, Sailing on the bay, gardening, and going to the studio everyday to dance.
