Microtech Audio Repair

I brought a bose circuit board in that needed a capacitor replaced. It was done while I waited and two other spots were re-​soldered that he knew to be problematic in those units. Charged me $ 20. What more can I say.

I needed to install a navigation system in my 2005 Ford pickup truck for a long road trip. Microtech came highly recommended by a few people I knew. The owner, Larry made recommendations to me regarding the equipment that I needed. All of this knowledge was very valuable to me since there are so many choices to pick from and I could have easily purchased the wrong thing (s). He installed everything in under a day including four great speakers, cameras and the stereo with navigation. I was very satisfied and I plan to use him for the next job.

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND DON’T PAY IN ADVANCE!!! Larry, the owner, appears to be down to living in his business, barely scraping by! The death of this business is swirling the bottom of the toilet. It took him THREE MONTHS, April 2015 to July 2015, after repeated unanswered phone calls to him, to install an aux jack (it doesn’t work anymore) and replace our OEM stereo (we were told our OEM stereo would be sent out and repaired). But our $ 250. check to him was cashed the day after we gave it to him!
Initially he advised it would take a week or two to have the OEM car stereo sent out and repaired. We paid upfront (HUGE mistake) and waited for a call to return for installation which never came.
After countless telephone calls from us and no return calls from him we began dropping by the business during business hours to find the doors closed. The only way we were able to contact him was by going to the business after hours or on Saturdays and go around to the back of the business (where we found him barbecuing with his buddies, smoking cigars, brewing beer, etc.). (Which is why we believe he is living at the business).
After two months of NO returned phone calls and NO updates, he finally told us they don’t do repairs on this unit anymore (wouldn’t he have known that the first week or two??) Like other customers have experienced, he never returned our telephone calls and when we confronted him in person, he acted like we were out of line (after three months of being strung out by him).
When he finally agreed to complete the repair, he left loose wires hanging on the floor and only ¾ of the speakers working with a glib response that «yeah, the speakers don’t work».
In hindsight I would order a repaired OEM radio online and install it myself.

This guy Larry, who owns Microtech, is a thief and a liar – DO NOT USE! I paid him $ 302.19 on June 23, 2014 to fix a DVD player. He removed the unit from my car that day and then never fixed it and refuses to return my money. Seems like he lost the DVD player.
Each time I’ve called he acts like it’s the first time he’s heard of me and promises to call the factory to which he sent the unit and call me back with an update. This has happened at least six times and he has never called back with an update. Not once.
I’ve stopped by the business twice to find out what is happening and each time he pretends not to remember who I am or anything about the repair work I paid for.
Larry is a fraud.

Affordable Great Repair Shop!!!
I tried to install a double din deck in my 2000 Acura Integra. The stock system was Bose, and I had all sorts of issues. Luckily I cruised through Unilocal found this shop and he took me in on the same day. My car was in pieces. He had to keep it due to the fact I needed a special adapter, but when I got it back it was «cherry.» He added and loaded all the futures showed me how they worked. The price was great!!! So happy I used Unilocal.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I took my Teac cassette their for repair and was informed the belts needed to be replaced. Paid for the repair which was over $ 100 and took the deck home to play some tapes and it didnt work. Took it back to the shop and a week later picked it back up and it seemed to work ok. About a month later stopped working again and this time took it to Classic Audio repair which has worked on other audio gear of mine. Picked up this weekend and it works great — problem was a belt that supposed to have been replaced was not. Very disappointed in service centers that charge for repairs and are not done correctly.

I visited 3 different shops regarding upgrading my car-​audio system. All three were well rated on Unilocal,however, I felt Larry at Microtech was by far the most honest and straightforward. Larry has 30 years in the business and knows car audio inside and out. He is not a salesman, but a highly skilled pro. I highly recommend him and his firm.

I am a returning customer and Larry is still the best I have found. I got a new car and wanted a back up camera integrated into my factory system and an OEM Bose subwoofer installed. We had to try a couple of different amps to get a perfect match for the subwoofer but it ended up perfect. Both the camera and subwoofer blended into the system seamlessly and you can not tell that they did not come from the factory this way. For quality and price I would never go anywhere else.

This place is awesome. Larry is a really good, honest guy. He gave me an estimate as soon as I came through the door and took a look at everything I had. He asked me how I wanted the work done, and did everything exactly how I wanted. Another great thing is how fast he got it all done. He got it done in around two hours and he installed two 12′ subwoofers and amp for me. The pricing here blows a lot of others places away by far it’s definitely way more affordable then any of the other places I got quoted at. Definitely a business that deserves 5-​stars for the pricing and work done.

When I thought all hope was lost, Larry was much obliged to help in anyway he could. Most other stereo shops would’ve turned me away. Lets start from the beginning. Valentine’s Day I had planned on having a stereo installed for my GF’s Jeep Wrangler. It was simple plan, hit up a stereo shop near my work, leave my car while I was at work, and pick up vehicle when I got off work. Lunch came around and I went looking for the 3 stereo shops that were listed on Unilocal.I crap you not, the 2 out of 3 shops I went to didn’t exist and the 3^rd shop didn’t work on stereos, only wheels and tires. But, Unilocal listed the shop as a Stereo Shop. Now my lunch is almost over and I am already thinking of alternative gifts to get my GF. I noticed this shop when my lunch was done and gave them a ring. Larry heard my situation and was helpful to come over and take a look from my work. This guy took his own time when he could’ve helped another customer to assist me. After he did a quick consultation he told me what I needed. At first, I thought, «A stereo shop that specifically does installations/​repairs only? No products on hand?» Larry could’ve turned the job down due to the complications but, he was more than willing to accommodate. So, after a quick call to Fry’s Electronics, I had the equipment needed to get the job done. Who went to pick up the equipment you ask? Larry not only took his time to help me, he went miles out of his way to pick up equipment and pay for it since I couldn’t pay over the phone. In this day in age, having faith in others are far and few, and I am grateful for his good judge of character. It only took him an hour to get my stereo installed and on Valentine’s day no less. His prices were more than fair for the services they can provide. You have gained a loyal customer and I look forward to your services in the future.

Larry is trustworthy, friendly, and professional. Not to mention the most inexpensive than others I compared prices with on Unilocal.I called to set an appointment to have my sub installed in my brand new car. He informed me it would take 1.5 hours and I let him know I was on a time crunch, so he made arrangements for me to come in early– which he did not have to do. When I got there he told me I needed a few extra pieces because I had purchased the wrong ones. He advised me to pick up parts somewhere else to save myself some cash– also which he did not have to do. I liked that he broke down exactly what he was doing in my car because me being a girl, I’m always nervous about being taken advantage of. His work is inexpensive, professional, and most of all honest. I will be sure to recommend this place to all friends and family.

No hassle install and Larry knows what he is doing. I had Microtech install a stereo in my wife’s car with Bluetooth, repair a door lock and car alarm. Larry did an excellent job putting it all together and getting it working after many frustrating years of having it not work. He also took the time to show me how the stereo and all of the settings worked. Got the job done quickly and at a good price. I will recommend him to everyone I know.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE, AFFORDABLE PRICE.
The owner, Larry, clearly knows his stuff. He was able to modify my car stereo to play great sounding audio from my iPhone in less than a half hour at a super reasonable price. I had fun looking around his shop, which is full of cool-​looking antique audio equipment. I will use Larry for all my audio needs in the future. He’s friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Delighted I found him.

Went here today after driving all over San Marcos and Escondido to get my system fixed. Larry is the man! I gave him a call after going to 3 other places. He was quick, professional, gave me a more than reasonable price, and was a cool guy overall. Got me bumpin again in no time. Highly recommend him for any kind of audio/​stereo repair. Buttons were sticking on my radio dash board Larry took radio out and repaired the same day. Wasn’t expecting same day but I will take it. Also learned they repair antique radios also cool!

We needed a tracking device installed on one of our company cars, and Larry quoted us a very honest and fair price over the phone. I called other places and they were asking outrageous fees (3 hours at 95 $ an hour). It took less than 30 min and we were very satisfied. Will absolutely use him again and would highly recommend him.
From the first phone call I was sold. I like that there is someone we know we can trust with our cars, because we really don’t know anything about them. Thank you Larry!
