Wonderful customer service. Today my 2 year old son got to touch a giant monitor, a snake, and a baby tortoise. He was fascinated. :) Will definitely be coming back. You can tell that the people who work here enjoy helping customers.

This is my go to store for all of my bearded dragon’s needs, the guys and gals here are very knowledgable and can give you hints on certain behaviors your pet is demonstrating and wether or not you should be concerened or it’s normal for that type of reptile.
They always have the right food for my picky reptile and if not they can get it for you. They get new shipments of tasty treats on Thursday mornings so make sure you call before then to get what you need.
The service and selection cannot be beat, if you own a reptile and live in the area you probably already go here but if not it’s worth checking out to see what they have to offer.

Great place to get info about reptiles, buy feed, supplies or just to go look at reptiles. Always friendly and most of all beats all prices from other stores. The one bad thing I can think of is that the roaches go by fast but you just have to time it right.

Was very disappointed today after attempting to return a heat lamp fixture and bulb I purchased two weeks ago. I breed dairy goats, and was referred to LLL to purchase a heat lamp, as I had baby goats due to be born with a cold storm forecasted later that week. I specifically asked two of the sales people, including the cashier who rang me up, that if I returned within a month, with receipt I would absolutely have no problem returning these two items, for a cash refund. Well two weeks after purchase, items not used, still in original packaging, original receipt in hand, was refused a return and was told that the return policy was 24 hours! Even after pleading my case, was refused a refund and told «good luck in talking to the owner.» I like to support local businesses but next will go to Home Depot.

I got a baby Western Hognose from here along with the whole set up. He’s super healthy, is doing great and all of the equipment is good quality for cheaper than craigslist.
My hognose stopped eating for no apparent reason and I came into LLL every week for a few weeks which then turned into everyday. The same guy helped me quite a few times (sorry I don’t remember his name) with different techniques to try, what the problem may be, etc. He even tried feeding him at the store. Nothing worked, but I was patient and the next week he started eating and has been eating steadily the past three weeks!
I’m very thankful that this place continues to help their customers with their animals if there are any issues.

I’ve been meaning to write a review about my experience at LLL for some time now but I’ve been too busy taking care of our not-​so-​little-​anymore chameleon!!! haha!
Back in October 2015 I told my soon-​to-​be 10yr old daughter that she could pick out a small pet for her birthday present and (little did I know what I was getting myself into), after doing a ton of research, she decided on a panther chameleon. Ayayayay. After searching around all of SD as well as a few online websites that specialized in chameleons, I decided to give LLLReptile (in Escondido) a call. JJ, Aaron and Jarett were all incredibly helpful and patient with my millions of questions. I was a little concerned about not only the $$$ cost but also the amount of work it has taken to get our little guy set up, but nearly 5 months later, I have to say it has been such a fabulous decision. We ADORE «Karma» our chameleon and he has brought our entire family so much joy that all the work (and $$!!) has been worth it.

I went in late after work on a Friday, about 30 minutes until they were supposed to close, and they hooked me up. I bought a snake & terrarium from a woman off of Craigslist just before I went to their store, and I was sorely disappointed with the condition of the terrarium when I went to pick it up. It was dirty with old bedding, all she had in there for the snake was an old Tupperware container with some water in it, which was also gross, and she gave me some old heat lamps she had used for a gecko with no light bulbs. I headed to LLL’s as quickly as I could to get some supplies, and maybe ask a few questions, as I was a first time snake owner. I wish I knew the guys names, but there were two young guys closing that night, and one of them helped me bring the tank/​snake in from my car while I grabbed the heat lamps, and he immediately started cleaning the cage and put brand new bedding and moss in it for me, while the other guy helped me pick out a few necessities in the store, and a good bulb for my lamp. They educated me on the basics of snake care, and answered all my questions. They were seriously champs. I’m pretty sure I walked out of there right at closing and they didn’t give even a hint of annoyance or seem put off that I was keeping them from their closing duties. Excellent customer service. It’s not as big as the location in Oceanside, and I don’t live remotely close to them, but I would make the drive to this location for the customer service alone.

Good place to buy reptile stuff. I have 3 turtles and 1 tortoise and i always come here for my turtle needs. They have the best prices in town. One time i was next to petsmart and bought turtle food for $ 20 and went to LLL and it was 6.99. That cemented my faith to these guys. The dude that knows everything plays in a band and has good music on the radio all the tome so thats a plus. Snakes for dayzzzzz! Crickets all over the floor so you know its legit. If you ask dumb questions they don’t look at you funny trust me i tried it. Just best place around. Oh! they also have a giant lizard that looks like godzilla in the window sometime stop by just to see that. Two thumbs up from a Unilocaler elite.

Lots of reptiles, kids had fun checking them out. The employees were very friendly and helpful.

I love this store. The guys are great and very helpful. My daughter loves looking at all the reptiles. Everything you need for your reptiles in a one stop shop!

My experience with Aaron has been amazing at the Escondido store! Now for the Oceanside store, it seems as if everybody has smoked a bunch of weed and doesn’t care about paying customers even being in the store. On the 18^th of July, 5 days ago I bought 2 bearded dragons in Oceanside and one of them seemed a little slow when we got home. It refuses to eat, doesn’t move, and when I took it back to show them they gave me a list of vets. I called them immediately, and was told to come in and exchange it if it didn’t get better. Today was a run around between oceanside and escondido. Aaron wasn’t there today, and the escondido store was just as bad and I was only offered a $ 10 credit towards another one! Very upset to bring my dying dragon back home, just to watch him die!

Highly recommend going here for all your reptile needs as opposed to any corporate stores for your pets. Every time I have a question about anything reptile related, they’re always very knowledgeable about all subjects relating to reptiles.
Prices are fair, not too expensive and not too cheap. They have everything you’ll need for daily care for your pet to starting a new hobby in having a reptile.
Employees are super nice here and super friendly. Take some time out of your day to shop here.

My son and I kept going to LLL Reptile to investigate Bearded Dragons. Aaron was so helpful with telling us all the necessary info. regarding the care of one, that we took the plunge. He offered us to bring her in any time if I had any concerns. (My main concern)
The entire staff is very helpful on our bi-​weekly visits to purchase food for her.
I had an emergency when losing «Penny» while my don was gone. I called freaking out and they politely on the phone carefully explained where Penny might have gone. I was able to find her.
We are very happy with LLL Reptile and are very happy when we see Aaron. He manages between the two stores.

These guys here really know what they are talking about. I came into the store and needed help with bedding for my tortoise. Now, I got my tortoise from a friend and all I remember was that she had gotten a big bag. I described what I needed and the man went into the back and got the bag I needed. He knew exactly what I was talking about.
After walking around, he also showed me the right heat lamp I needed because mine decided to blow out. After walking around again, which I probably shouldn’t have done, I asked some questions about the chameleons that they have in store. He told me everything that I would have needed to make the habitat right and now I know when I head back exactly what to look for!

I live in MISSION VIEJO and I drove all the way here to get the pet I was looking for that pretty much any other reptile store doesn’t have. I was short a few dollars and an employee named JOE helped me with the difference. I will drive an hour here anytime I want a new pet or supplies because they deserve my money! These stars are fully based on the above excellent service I received :)

They information they provide is wrong just as often as correct. They guess.
That is if you could get the scowling staff to give you answer. Your much better off researching on the Internet.
The store is filthy and I don’t mean the horrible stink. The shelves are dusty and ditty and most of the supplies look old.
Their mice feeders are good prices. The prices on crickets are better than other stores but you can do better online. The roach prices are bad. The super, meal and other worm prices are ok but you are better off online. Not just on price but on health. I am not confident the feeders are well cared for.
I used to go in few times a week, now rarely. It would easy for the owners to fix this but is apparently not their business model. Their Oceanside store is a bit better. I liked the San Diego store better, even though it’s smaller.
These are my opinions based on many visits over the last year.

After inheriting a snake, I realized I knew very little about how to care for them properly. I went to LLL Reptile. Joe was amazingly helpful and knowledgeble. He help me get the proper set up for Ms. Bo, and helped me get a regular schedule for care and maintenance. I feel more confidence that I can take care of the snake. Ms. Bo sheded correctly, and is much more active with the proper heating and lighting. Thank you LLL Reptile for going the extra mile! It really made a difference. Everyone was so friendly, we had a great time decorating her new diggs.

I came to this LLL store a few years ago and had an awful experience. I should have posted about it then but I forgot.
I recently visited the Mission Valley location and had a crappy experience there, too, I’m posting about their Escondido location here.
The employees here were so rude to me I almost walked out but I was in the area and had to get something. There were 2 people in the store. One was sitting at the counter reading a magazine. Since he didn’t even look up when I walked in I didn’t bother to approach him. The other guy completely ignored me because he was busy trying to sell someone an expensive snake. He acted irritated when I asked him to help me find something.
If you’re buying an animal, this might be a good place to go but don’t expect them to be polite or look you in the eye even if you’re buying $ 100 worth of reptile food and products. I’m not a huge fan of the big-​box pet stores so from now on all my stuff will be ordered from Amazon.
One more note: LLL was at the reptile show and the people working their booth were super nice. I would visit their booth again but I’m not setting foot in one of their stores ever again.

I should start by saying that I am not a reptile fan or owner. They actually really irrationally scare me, but I think that is important because it can show how high quality this establishment is.
Though the creatures every where make me feel nervous, all of them are are in clean and secure enclosures. I always feel safe. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable. I have been there several times with a friend who owns a snake. Service was always fast without being rushed.
When I went in alone to get a rat for my friend, it was brought up that I am afraid of reptiles. Instead of teasing me, they were kind and encouraging. This showed me that they respected me and that is huge.
I would recommend this store to anyone from a reptile fanatic to a new comer.
