Kid’s Kuts Salon

We’ve been coming for about 4 years to this place. My son has curly hair and Renee does a wonderful job cutting his hair. Everyone is very friendly and it’s always clean.

I liked Laura a lot and she did a good job with my hair, but the first time I went in, she blew the short hairs off my neck and shoulders. I attended cosmetology school and remember seeing not to do that in the text book and thinking, Who would? Now I know.
The second time she cut my hair, she coughed the whole entire time without covering her mouth. I felt like I had her germs all over me and for these reasons, I will not return.

The good: my 7 month old doesn’t like strangers being to close to him, but Taylor did an amazing job with his first haircut. She moved along with his movements while he just stared at her trying to figure out what was going on. She was very personable and made the experience stress free, something I wasn’t expecting. At the end, she gave us a certificate for him along with a zip lock with some hair clippings.
The not so good: because we figured haircuts are so quick there, we didn’t think to make an appointment. We got there at 6:20 on a Saturday and were told they didn’t have openings until 7:30. That’s fine and we said we would come back then. The girl didn’t bother to take our name down and seemed to try to push us off into coming back another day. Idk if it’s because it was a Saturday night. Sorry!
That’s the only reason I’m not giving it a full 5. Other than that, ask for Taylor if you have infants. She’s great.

Not hard to find, if you know they moved from their long time location across the street.
The staff has been friendly every time we visit, and they do a great job with even the youngest kids. Best to call in advance as they do get pretty packed.

This hair salon did the best haircut I ever gotten. The lady (wish I’d asked her name) did a very awesome job on my hair. I thought she would just cut my hair, she styled it too. Very cute! I have been admiring my hair for hours and hours. Love it! :)

We have been having Rene cut our daughters hair since she was two and she is now five. She always does a wonderful job. Their new location (behind Burger King at the south entrance to the auto parkway) is very nice and everyone there is very kid friendly. A few weeks ago my daughter actually asked if she could get her hair cut. I called and Rene fit us in. She took extra time to curl my daughters hair and my wife and I were thrilled with the results. The $ 16 price for everything is great too!

I had just moved to the area so I needed a fun kids place to get my 2 year old’s haircut. When something is literally called «Kid’s Kuts» you would think it was all about kids. Definitely not the case. It is decorated child-​like and has a nice little enclosed play area for kids, but the chairs are normal adult chairs and the stylists were nowhere geared toward kids. They didn’t even have any product for children. Why is «Kid’s» even in the business name?
I made an early appointment and when I showed up my assigned stylist was working on someone else and didn’t even acknowledge me. 20 minutes late, she basically lifted her head to tell us to come over and did my son’s cut. It was less then exciting and just a basic cut. She did do a nice job on his haircut and we were in and out within 10 minutes (once the haircut started) but if you are looking for a fun, kid friendly place, this is not it.

Went the first time when my son was 6 months. They did a great job. Went back for 9 month hair cut (born with a TON of hair) and it has been about a week since his hair cut. On the sides of my little boys hair, it is still over grown on his ears and it was cut shorter on one side in the front than the other. It looks off. No hair cut will be perfect, but when the stylist was finishing up, she broke out THINNING shears on my 9month old before I had a chance to know what was going on. Who thins out a babies hair??? Now the front of his hair looks all feathery compared to the rest of his head. When she was done, she continued to put what she called «products» on my sons hair. Again, who puts PRODUCTS on a 9month old. The staff is very friendly and the big kids seem happy, but I am not going to take my baby there again.

We took my 22 month old daughter for her bangs trimmed on Saturday. Overall the cut was alright, Im coming back in today because she missed a layer of bangs so my daughter still has hair in her face. What I was most annoyed with though was the lady at the receptionist’s desk. I had called and made an appt a couple days in advance and the woman told me I wasn’t in the books very rudely and that I didn’t have an appointment, while I was asking her if she could fit us in, a hair dresser came up to the desk asking if she could help me and the woman behind the desk snapped at her, I was shocked at her behavior and customer service. She fit us in and then continued to sit on her personal phone on facebook, discussing it with everyone else. After I take my daughter back today to get her bangs evened we will not be coming back.

Where else can you get a full service haircut for your kids, including wash and style, for $ 16? I have been coming here for 9 years and won’t get my girls’ hair done anywhere else. Dolores, the owner, is quick handed and patient with wriggling kids. Shannon is another favorite. She has the magic touch when it comes to my special needs daughter. Every other time we come here, it is just for a bang trim. $ 5.00? Sold! This place is always clean, and decorated for the season. I recommend calling ahead for an appointment as this place can get pretty busy.

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. My husband took our 3 year old here last week to get her haircut. Our daughter has long beautiful hair and all she needed was the ends trimmed. My daughter came home with the ends so unevenly hacked off, I was in shock and pissed off that this person has a job cutting children’s hair! We brought her back today, so someone working there could try and cut her hair a little more evenly. Seriously, how difficult could this be? I know now that this was a big mistake because they had the person who messed her hair up in the first place try to fix it. I watched her while she cut my daughters hair and she did not know what the hell she was doing. She was rude and gave too many ridiculous excuses as to why she did such a poor job, even trying to tell me the way I was checking if my daughter’s hair was cut evenly was not correct. WTF! I am not blind and I again pointed out to her parts of my daughters hair that was longer than the other. I finally had it with this stupid idiot. We left. I’m just going to take our daughter to another salon to get her hair fixed.

I’ve been to this location twice. My first experience was much better than my second.
Sue, who is no longer there, cut my son’s hair. She really did a great job. The ladies are chatty (a bit too chatty for me) but she was doing a great job so I overlooked the conversation about prostitutes in Vegas. I still don’t get the connection between a child’s haircut and prostitutes in Vegas.
The second time, Sue’s niece cut his hair. I had to practically direct her where to cut his hair, where to take more off, use the buzzers on his neckline, etc. I wasn’t as happy with the cut this time.
The prices are similar to what other people pay, but they only accept cash or check. A bit of a pain for me.
Sorry, we won’t be returning. :(

I went in to have my 18 month old’s hair cut. The place was cute, it had a few TVs in the walls to help distract kids, and they have a castle themed play area for the kids to wait before they get their hair cut. When we went, the place was empty; just 3 stylists. When I walked in, the stylist sitting at the reception desk asked me to hold on while she turned off the tv. I’m not sure why one of the other stylists couldn’t have turned off the tv, or taken us to the booth, but whatever. My son was very wiggly and our stylist was very nice and patient cutting his hair. His hair cut took about 10 minutes total because he was so wiggly. At the end of the haircut, I paid. They only accept cash or check, so I gave her enough to give me a $ 5 bill back for change. She didn’t give me the change back, she kept it as a tip without me asking if taking that much would be ok. I wouldn’t be too upset with this, except that she didn’t ask, and she gave herself a 31% tip, which was not what I thought the customer service, or even a haircut without a shampoo and blow dry, called for. I have never seen this in hair or nail salons, or valets; the only place I’ve seen this happen in the past was with taxi cab drivers.
I’ve been to another hair salon specifically for kids called Adventure cuts, in Carlsbad, and the hair stylists are nice and don’t assume or automatically take a tip. I’m willing to make the drive out there next time.
My advice, if you decide to use Kid’s Kuts, is to bring exact change for cash, or write a check.

We’ve gone twice and both cuts with the place have been fine. We go to Sue when we’ve gone (a wonderful perky woman who is continually happy). It is no form or shape a salon (Think great clips with less professionalism). And Yes, there is some cute castle décor but as a whole it lacks professionalism and tact. i.e. expect someone eating food at their station while your child’s hair is getting cut or the possibility of a stylist yelling to a mom «Boy does this guy have cowlicks!» sitting in the waiting area.
I’m not willing to drive 20 miles for a haircut for my son so that is why we came back. I would love to find a place that is all around awesome but I haven’t yet.
$ 16 for a haircut-​I pay it because I like Sue as a person.

I was terrified of getting my daughters first haircut. She has curly hair and I was so worried that the stylist would cut all of the curls off, or wouldn’t know how to cut and layer curly hair. We went to Shannon, and although I watched her like a hawk, she did a great job! My daughters hair looked so good, that I decided to have her cut my hair as well. My daughters first haircut was in December and since then we have been there for 2 more haircuts! If you are looking for a high-​end salon, you probably won’t want to go here because it is a KIDS salon. But, if you want a good haircut at an affordable price, this is the place to go!
I have seen some of the other stylists cut boys hair and if I had a boy, I might not take him there, but for girls hair it’s great!

FINALLY — I have someone great I can count on for my hair in the San Diego area.
I know what you’re thinking. This is a salon that is geared for children, especially with the name — Kid’s Kuts. Look in and you will see a castle and other assorted things meant to enchant children and provide a comfortable environment for them, but please don’t let that stop you from considering this salon for adults as well. The décor is similar to a Supercuts for kids. So if you’re used to the ‘salon’ or spa experience with beverages, music, lighting and amenities, you’re not going to find it here. But you will find talented, friendly stylists who truly care about people of all ages and their hair.
Kriste (who only works here on Mondays, but she’s in the Temecula area on other days) is absolutely phenomenal! I currently have hair cuts and styling here, but they provide all of the other services (color/​highlights/​perms, etc…) fabulously as well. Kriste spends time getting to know you and takes extreme care to design the perfect style and cut for you (based on your lifestyle, your hair type and dreams of how you always hoped your hair could look). And for me, she achieved it! I was referred by a happy long time (also single adult) client as well who has been seeing her for many years.
Last but certainly not least, the price is extremely reasonable, especially given the service she provides. I know that some will say ‘you get what you pay for’ but for me, I feel I get 10x more paying 10x less. I paid 10x more to have a haircut in a salon in La Jolla where the ‘stylist’ worked on 4 other people at the same time as me and didn’t give me even ¹⁄₁₀ of the personal attention and consideration I receive with Kriste at Kids Kuts.
When I’ve been there, I’ve observed very happy kids getting excellent cuts as well — along with many of the mothers. But please don’t feel as if you need to have a child in tow to feel comfortable here.
