K9 Resort and Spa’s owner, Penny DiLoreto has more than 20 years working in the industry. Penny is a certified groomer, certified Veterinary Assistant, Dog Behaviorist, Dog Trainer and accomplished Author. K9 Resort and Spa is a training site for Animal Behavior College-​Groomers and Dog Trainers and Regional Occupational Program (ROP). FREE Reactive Dog Consultation/​Evaluation. History

Established in 2012.

Our dog training, pet sitting and dog walking business started in our Escondido, CA home in 2005. After a while it became evident that we needed to move so we moved into our brick and mortar location at 2750 Auto Park Way on April 1, 2012. At that time we offered training, dog park and grooming. Since then we converted the dog park area into boarding and daycare. Today we have changed our name to more accurately reflect who we are as K9 Resort and Spa. Our offering has grown to include Boarding, Daycare, Grooming, Training, some Veterinarian services and Retail.

I brought my 16 year old lab mix in for a de-​shed and puppy cut. I’m very cautious of who I allow to take care of our old timer. I found K9 Resort by driving by it frequently and read reviews about their service. I gave them a shot and was thoroughly impressed with the facility, staff and the service. Very reasonably priced for the amount of work they did. I will be a return customer. I wholeheartedly recommend K9 Resort.

Took my fur baby in for a nice long overdue bath. I had brought her here before when I first adopted her and really thought they did a great job, so now that my Mom moved to the area, I was back for another try!
I brought her in for a bath and was able to make a same day appointment! She is a small chihuahua and for a complete groom including nails, ears, and glands, it cost me $ 35. My baby is quite skittish and shy, and the staff seemed very friendly and responsive to her needs.
I dropped her off for an appointment and they called me about an hour later letting me know she was done. Very fast efficient service. When I got her back, she smelled great! Only thing that kind of bugged me was she was shedding a TON, so I wish they would’ve spent more time blow drying and brushing her, so she didn’t shed all over the car and house! Their little report cards they give are very cute and give you a sense of how they are behaving.
Overall, I like this place and will be back! The price is a little high in my opinion, but it seems they really care about the pups and do a good job.

I want to share my experience with K9 Resort & Spa grooming and hope it will help others decide where to take their pup. I have been taking my pup Max for spa treatment at K9 since late last year and I’ve been happy with them. Whenever I pick up Max, his coat looks shiny and he smells really good! I love the ribbon they put on the collar (very cute and it’s different every time)! You can choose which staff member you want when you make appointment and I have been choosing Nicole Riley who is fantastic! Ever since she took care of Max, I always choose her. I am sure all of the staff members are good but I feel really comfortable with Nicole! Thank you K9 Resort & Spa! Thank you Nicole for taking good care of Max! He loves you!

So glad we found this place! We’ve been using their daycare once a week for our 7 month old puppy so he can become acclimated around other dogs. They have a webcam so we can see what our pup is up to which makes us very at ease knowing he’s taken good care of. The staff is friendly and the place is clean! Would highly recommend!

I love this place! We’ve been coming here for bathing/​grooming for about eight months now and have always had a good experience. One of the groomers has been so patient with my oldest dog, Chorizo, who gets skittish and really upset when you file her nails.
My other dog is a puppy and we did the STAR puppy training with Penny who was extremely helpful and patient.

I was put in the position to have to find doggy day care quickly because of the flood situation in my house. After doing research I visited K9 spa and resort only to be very pleasantly surprised at the professionalism and genuinely caring for my dog’s well-​being. Molly is very happy there. Everyone there has been wonderful. I encourage anybody to check this place out. Even when we are back home, I plan on continuing to take Molly back once a week to play with her new friends!

These are onsite owners with many years of training and expertise. They provide wonderful grooming, on site doggie day care, and behavioral training. The owners and staff are very friendly and professional. I have a challenging dog, and they are very patient with him. The business is very clean and inviting as well. Penny and David, you are great!

We’ve been taking Bella to K-​9 once a month for the luxury spa and de-​shedding process. It has been about 4 months now. She’s a big girl (85 lbs) and although gentle by nature, she has her days when she can be a bit testy. All the groomers have been wonderful with her. They really have a way with dogs — treating them with genuine kindness and loving affirmation
Her coat feels like silk and the de-​shedding process that they use works! Bella is an inside dog. My house has a lot less dog hair than it did before.

I am so glad I went here!
Note that I’ve never taken my dog to be groomed until today. That aside I will take him again.
The owner initially assisted me in scheduling, all the while extremely helpful with all the questions I had and concerns. I’m that kind of ‘fur-​parent’ I had a lot!
Then when I needed to reschedule due to work, again so accommodating.
Once I finally arrived to drop Sir Ian off, I had no qualms about it.
The intake area is inviting, staff very helpful, patient and informative. The lovely lady who took my buddy back even brought me back into the area to confirm how I wanted his hair cut/​trimmed!
When I came to pick him up most importantly, Sir Ian was happy. He wasn’t shaking or afraid, even snuggled into the lady bringing him out and gave her kisses!
He wasn’t in a hurry to leave, I will be in no hurry to take him grooming needs elsewhere!

Our 5 month old chocolate lab loves it here ! We take her in for a ½ day daycare. She comes home exhausted and we’ve noticed that she’s not terrorizing our senior dog that much, which is great! The staff is great, we love the daily report cards and the access to the cameras. We definitely feel at ease leaving our puppy here. We’ve yet to try their other services, but it’s definitely something we will be trying out in the future.

I have used the in home training sessions and I couldn’t be more satisfied! Paula is seriously amazing and has taught us and our pup a great deal of knowledge! I never understood the power of positive reinforcement until now, especially for a low confidence dog. The prices are really really reasonable too! Give them a call, you won’t regret it!

Slash (my phantom cockapoo) and I are SO incredibly happy that we have found K-​9 Resort & Spa!
I had previously brought Slash to several grooming salons, including PetCo, and she always came back more skittish than when she left.
When I moved to Escondido, Slash needed some grooming, and I looked here on Unilocal for the best place to bring her, and I found David & Penny. I was amazed that they had so many positive reviews, and their prices are AMAZING, so I figured I would give it a try.
Best. Decision. Period.
Slash went right in the door, and the way the staff handled her and spoke with her was completely genuine, and mirrored my mannerisms. When I picked her up, she was happy and playful.
I knew I had found our new grooming home!
I have now brought Slash a total of 2 times. She had a birthday yesterday, and David & Penny gave my princess a birthday discount, and painted her toes!
After so many terribly experiences, I am so happy to have found K-​9 Resort & Spa. They treat my dog the way I feel she should be treated, and are friendly and genuine people.
Bottom line? Definite recommendation. To everyone.

I’ve been to several groomers, cheap and expensive. No one has ever been able to cut my dogs hair exactly how I wanted it. It was either too short, choppy or just not cleanly done.
I went to K9 Resort & Spa with high hopes based on the reviews. I was definitely not disappointed. The groomer knew exactly how I wanted her cut before I even began to nit-​pick. They treated her kindly and answered any concerns or questions I had.
I am excited to bring her back for another grooming!

While I was living in north county I would only ever take my GSD here for grooming, ever since moving I can’t find anywhere that even begins to compare. When I visit north county with my dog I take him in! They do a great job and I love how informative they are about how the appointment went.

My husband and I love K9 Resort & Spa. We take both of our dogs Iris and Leo there. They love to run around and play with the other dogs. Leo is the one that is most excited when he realizes we are on our way there. I love getting a report card for each dog because it gives me an insight on what they were up to during their stay! I would recommend K9 Resort & Spa for all of your needs, whether it be grooming, training, daycare or boarding!

My 2 girls used to go to Camp Bow Wow, and once we took them to K9, we noticed two big differences that made us decide to keep them at K9…1) They get excited to leave in the morning and 2) they don’t cry when I leave them.
I feel like K9 provides them with an environment that is less stressful with the use of music and rooms instead of kennels.

My first time here, and I’m very pleased. I booked on line in a few minutes and
had an appointment the next day. I love the way my golden/St.Bernard turned out
with his hair shaved down to ¼″. Jennifer listened to want I wanted and even called
me after she got started to tell me she had to change the plan just a bit, so that I would know
what was going on.
When I picked him up I was so happy to see how he looked. No more long hair!!!
