Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores

Went in for a new hot glue gun. Left with disappointment.
I had a 50% off coupon on my phone app. For some reason it would not load while I was in the store. I showed my phone to the clerk at the register (The clerk I always seem to get. The clerk who is grumpy every single time) and asked if she could just key in 50% off since the coupon would not load. She would not.
Thanks Teri for another grumpy & disappointing experience in your store.
Found the same gun for $ 5 less down the road at Walmart.
(BTW, the glue gun selection at Jo-​Ann had five empty pegs where the reasonably priced guns would have been. Keeping the shelves stocked in this location seems to be a real chore.)

DIRTY. Old. Dirty. Stinky. Poor service. Ladies cutting fabric were cranky. Not interested in helping. Not a friendly store. They do have a large selection and offer student discount.
Handicap accessible: It was tight moving around the fabric area in my wheelchair. No one available to help get higher items. In a bad part if town. Never going back.

Expensive, but a variety. pretty much have anything you could possibly need craft. Had some hit and miss with customer service. First time I went here there was no one there. Second time it was packed with lots of happy helpful workers. Third time everyone seem to be in a very bad mood. I mean I understand everyone has bad days but it was bad enough to make me uncomfortable lol. If I need to just grab a few things or something little I’ll probably go here because I know they will have it. Other then that, I’m going to just order my fabric from now on.

Store was clean and organized but the bathrooms were locked bc they only had one key for the makes and females only

This location should be closed due to incompetent staff and poor management.
My first frustration: before heading over, I searched their website to be sure they had the frame I wanted in stock. The website shows they were 50% off. When I get to the store, the frame was actually only 40% off. Having different sales online vs. in store is Very Misleading, especially when they have one of those stock meters on the website and no clear language next to the price that the sale is online only.
I also bought a charm in the jewelry department. The shelf price was $ 1.99, but when I looked at my receipt when I got home, I was actually charged $ 2.49. Weights and Measures, anyone?
I found several other items that I would have purchased, but no prices could be found on the shelf, or they were stocked in the wrong location… this store is just a disaster!
Lastly, when I went to check out, I gave the cashier my friends and family coupon to get 25% off my purchase. The cashier told me it was only valid on the 15^th. I showed her that it says valid THROUGH the 15^th. She said no, only the 15^th. Again, I pointed out the wording where it Clearly States THROUGH the 15^th… and again, No. So, I pointed to the words where it says the coupon is good for 3 days… then again where it says THROUGH the 15^th. She was frustrated with me and clearly set in her incompetent ways, but finally asked another cashier if she could use the coupon. Because the other cashier agreed with me, then she finally tried scanning it. And wouldn’t you know… the coupon worked!
Did I get an apology? No.
Will I shop at this location again? No.
Just had to vent my frustration. Thanks for reading.

Friendly staff, good selection of fabrics, and the prices aren’t bad for a craft store. I really enjoy my trips here even though it’s not in particularly nice area.

My wife loves this place for their large scrapbooking supplies.
This place is huge, there’s never a line, and there’s plenty of parking.
Make sure to download their app for a coupon that you can use that day.
Very comparable to Michael’s.

I can’t believe how much nicer this joanns is compared to the one in oceanside I didn’t have to wait and everyone is so friendly specially faith she was so helpful with finding what I needed and cutting it… thank you faith my roaring 20s dress will be amazing!

Carlos & Antonio were great. They helped us find everything we needed. Antonio helped me, the novice sewer, figure out the necessary yardage for my wedding table decorations. He was professional, courteous and an all around pleasure to work with.
The store has lots to offer– plenty of fabric, crafts and sundries for anyone doing any sort of project. It was well stocked, organized and was definitely worth the 30 minute drive! I will be coming back here in the future– I’d pick this place for seeing material, calligraphy supplies, wedding crafts or other needs.
Also, a great bonus– they give outstanding discounts if you’re a teacher!!!
Don’t be dissuaded by the outdated/​former reviews– this Joann’s is a gem!!!

This place is a decent hobby/​craft store. They have a lot of fabrics here to choose from. They sell it by the yard and it’s pretty cheap. They have a lot of arts and crafts items here as well. I came here for items to decorate a money box for my wedding. We bought some fabric and ribbon that they sell by the yard as well. We also got some diamond ribbon design that we used for some outlining on the box. It was was not expensive at all for the items to do it yourself. This place would come in handy if I needed to decorate something and needed some supplies.

Customer service is non-​existent! Not only at the Escondido location but also at the Poway location. The only things I buy at Joann’s are notions; for fabric, I go to quilt shops or buy online at Fat Quarter Shop. Joann stores are dirty and cluttered. You would think that, with about 15 top quality quilt shops in San Diego county, they would step up their customer service and the appearance if their stores.

Terrible. I walked in saw they had great clearance sales or discounts. I looked around found a fabric I liked went to the back to get it cut and have the price checked. The lady was just standing there. Wouldn’t help me because I didn’t have a number. I said I only have a question and she said get a number, walked off. I went and found a staple gun came back and a different lady told me I needed a number and where to find them.
I get up there finally to cut the fabric and ask the price and I tell her I found it in the 30% off section. She argues with me saying is not on sale. I said I found it in that section again. She sighed and said fine, it’s $ 3 off. I get the fabric cut and she hands me the receipt to take up to the register. She didn’t take the discount off.
At this point, an hour spent in the store, I just left. I didn’t want another argument.

I’ve been here multiple times to get fabric and always leave with a bag full. They have really good coupons and they always remind you at checkout to use them (at least they always remind me). The customer service is really good. Carlos is very friendly and helpful. The whole staff is awesome! I highly recommend this store to everyone.

We found exactly what we were looking for and were helped at checkout by a wonderful woman named Susan. She took the time to re tally my daughter’s and my purchases to get us the maximum discount and was so nice about it. Sometimes cashiers are so easily ruffled, but not Susan! I sure hope that JoAnn Fabrics knows what GREAT customer service this lovely lady provides!!!

Terrible service! I’ll be spending my money at Yardage Town. Went to the counter to ask a question and there was no one else around. The employee made eye contact with me and then proceeded to converse with a co-​worker. I waited patiently while the two spoke, and then they turned around and left as I proclaimed, «wait! I have a question. Wait. Please come back» The two ignored me and walked away.

The only decent thing about this store is the fabric. And I mean, it’s just decent. Nothing to brag about. The store generally has a little bit of a dirty feel to it, has many areas in the aisles that just have nothing in them, and isn’t updated. The worst thing for me is the lack of employees that work there. There is never any more than one person at the registers, and it takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r. I met a very nice employee today, but I also met one other that was horrible. Generally their customer service is pretty embarrassing.
Unfortunately it’s really one of the only fabric stores in Escondido, so I go. Just wish they could get their store up to par. Come on Joanns!

JoAnn’s is one of the only places around that has an extensive options for fabric. That being said:
–they tend to be a lil pricey
–this location is not the cleanest
–there is always a long line
–their customer service is not the best
If you are looking for something that might be hard to find, i would say stop by here, but it’s really not worth going out of your way for.

Look past the ghetto neighborhood and 1970s flashback building and you’ll find the largest collection of incompetent employees under one roof! These people are unable to do simple math (addition, subtraction) or communicate effectively. It amazes me that out of 5 employees in the store, no one could understand why 50% off of $ 8 should not total $ 9 with tax! Fast forward 20 minutes of arguing logic (and my 6 yr old explaining mathematics to these women), and we left after being redirected all over the store to do their job of finding prices and relabeling fabric cuts. There is a huge selection of fabric, but your money is better spent elsewhere — it is worth paying more to not have to waste hours of your time with these morons.

A typical craft store in an older part of Escondido. Nothing really outstanding, but, convenient with a large parking lot. Was hard looking for what I needed, but, eventually found it!

This was the first Jo-Ann’s Ive been too so I don’t know if being super messy and unorganized is normal for this store? It took me a while to find what I was looking for and it was hard to track down an employee.
