Business Owner

Born and raised in San Diego, I graduated from Cuyamaca Junior College in 1996 with a focus on drafting and decided to go to work in the construction industry. After about five years, I was hired as the facilities manager at a local coffee roasting facility, overseeing a 14,000 square foot building. This was where I furthered my knowledge in plumbing and electrical.

I decided to lay down my roots and start a family of my own here in my hometown. My wife and I bought a home in North County and we now have a three-​year-​old daughter and a son on the way.

I began my journey as a home inspector in 2008. After being mentored by a respectable home inspection company with over 10 years of experience and a member of the BBB with an A+ rating it was time to build my own business.

Cox Property Inspections is now servicing San Diego and South Riverside Counties. We are also members of the North San Diego Business Chamber.

Joey Cox came with very high recommendation from our real estate agent, and we were thrilled with him! I echo the other reviews on here — he is extremely professional and knowledgeable, efficient (but never rushed) and thorough. His rates were very reasonable. He scoured the entire interior and exterior, climbing into attics, crawl spaces, underneath sinks, all the while poking things with his tools, explaining findings to us, and answering questions. When something wasn’t working correctly, I was shocked that he even came back on different days for an additional look to help us troubleshoot. His report was sent over amazingly quickly, everything carefully documented with color photos, so we could move forward with our home purchase. Even beyond all that, he is super cool to talk to, a great resource, and so patient with my husband who loves asking him questions :) Would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an inspector!

Ok, buying a house is big deal. There is so much stuff that you don’t really know you’re getting yourself into by the time you’ve saved up enough funds to make the leap. Joey made this part of the process so smooth, I wasn’t even in town and he swooped in like a superhero, dealt with the seller’s tenants still milling about with grace and efficiency and just made me feel like this whole «escrow» thing wasn’t all that bad. Haha… well, his part of the deal was smooth as silk and I would highly recommend him to anyone I know who is buying a new home.

My first observations about Joey Cox were that he was on time, friendly, and accommodating. I might also add that his prices are incredibly fair, and competitive.
This guy takes his time and gets down to every last detail. I watched Joey scoot on his hands and knees along retaining walls, climb up into a 120° attic, and he also put on a special suit and crawled underneath our new home.
My husband followed him around the house and asked him various questions… Joey was always more than willing to answer everything, and was informative in detail.
When the home inspection was finished he uploaded all of the photos he had taken onto his laptop and went through every single photo with us, explaining the process and his findings.
We received his overall report the next day. We are so pleased with the results, and we would recommend Mr. Cox to ANY ONE who’s in need of a home inspection.

We used Cox Property Inspections for a potential house purchase in November 2013. Thanks to the thorough inspection we were made aware of a crack in the foundation and stucco wall. A foundation specialist was referred and the crack was evaluated. It helped us decide this was not the house for us.
We were so impressed with Joey’s service, we used CPI for a different house we found in February 2014. Again his thorough inspection helped point out minor concerns, we otherwise never would have noticed. Those concerns were addressed and completed with the seller.
CPI is a great home inspection company. Their prices are very competitive and reports are sent back very rapidly, including pictures and detailed analysis! Joey is very helpful and worked great with our realtor, we highly highly recommend him!
