History

Established in 1975.

Strand ACE Hardware has been owned and operated by three generations of the Swanson family for 39 years. In 1975, Larry and Agatha Swanson purchased Strand Brothers hardware, a business that had started in 1946 in Escalon on 2nd street. The Swanson’s decided to keep the Strand Bros. name due to the reputation the business had established within the community, and as a symbol of gratitude toward the Strand family.

Every time I go in here everybody is super helpful. I just moved to this town and need all the help I can get. They are very knowledgeable in all areas of the store. I just bought a house so I will be coming back quite often just because of the customer service.

I went there for yet another obscure item for my goofy projects, a 1/​8″ steel ball. Not only did they have it, they had every size from 1⁄16th up to 1″. They seem to have EVERYTHING. Got a project you need to figure out how to build? These guys will help you figure it out if you have half a clue how you wanna do it. The check out girls are always hot!!! and the guys working there always super helpful. Did I mention they seem to have EVERYTHING?

Great place, their free popcorn is very good, but they do not always make it as much as they should! Shameful, hahahaa! Clean and organized. Usually has whats on ad too. But keep that popcorn popping daily! OK??? cool.

I shop here almost everyday off great people Mia always counts my change back the proper way. love the helpfulness the minute you step in and the popcorn great for the kids! (Update) so other than the almost overly helpful staff in a positive way the other day I went in to buy some 4×4 posts and paid for eight but when they went to go pull them out they only had seven. I needed to make sure they all were matching due to my compulsive nature so I got my money back and headed to the dreadful big box store. As I got a few miles away I received a call letting me know they found the missing inventory and if I still wanted them they would save them for me. Thanks for the small town customer service!!!

Wow! They must employ half of Escalon here. I stop here at least every other weekend… sometimes more, and it seems that there are three or four staffers near the entrance to greet me. I’ll get asked at least once more if I need any help finding anything. Sometimes I’ll ask them where something is so they can feel useful… can’t just let them stand around bored all day!
Pretty standard selection of a hardware store, it’s a newer store, so it’s clean and easy to find things. It’s really the customer service that I appreciate.

good help, good selection, good service… considering this is still considered a mom & pop store the prices aren’t bad and the employees are polite & knowledgeable. I miss the old location on Main street though, it had real character!

Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man, or, in this case, person. lol
While driving home from places unknown I remembered there were a few things that I needed so decided to stop in here as it was on my way. This is a fairly new store. Being built within the last 3 years or so. Very well laid out, clean. The staff was very friendly.
