This is an interesting store not like other discount grocery stores. Except … you need to deposit a quarter into the chain release which chains the carts. You will get it back when you return the cart. Also they don’t provide bags but will sometimes offer boxes if available. It is possible they may have bags for purchase but I didn’t see them. It was fairly easy to navigate and had everything from eggs, produce, packaged goods, to coffee and meats. The sales they had were good but not all prices beat prices of the normal supermarkets. So just keep an eye out. We did get 3 lbs of onions for 0.69. All in all we got a ton of groceries for a quarter of the price of normal markets like Krogers.

Oh Aldi, How I love thee, let me count the ways… You are cheap, and by cheap I mean affordable my love. You are fun, there is always something new to you. You have the best generics around. You have healthy food and unhealthy food all together. Did I mention you are affordable? I love Aldi! I used to go there when I lived in Germany, and was so excited years ago when the Aldi opened in Erlanger. But now I live so close I could walk which makes Aldi super awesome. If you have not ever been, it is an experience. First warning– Aldi is small and does not have everything. And unfortunately due to the stupid laws in Kentucky, this Aldi cannot sell wine, beer and assorted liquors(which are great for the price, and include a generic Baileys). What Aldi does have is great deals on cereal, baking supplies, basic essentials like tomato sauce, whole wheat pasta(not always available), rice, milk etc. But there are surprises! Aldi sometimes features world cuisine. During the Italian weeks, there is pesto, frozen ravioli, risotto, mozzarella, and even delicious Italian cookies called Pizzelle. During the German event, there is black bread, herring, and sauerkraut. Finally, Aldi has chocolate! Mmm European chocolate at deep discount prices… I usually avoid this section but occasionally give in to temptation for milk chocolate bars with hazelnuts, dark chocolate in many percentages and a raisin and milk chocolate bar that rivals Cadbury. Before you go, there are a few ‘musts” and«shoulds». You should bring bags. They will cost you some spare change if you do not bring your own. Also, there is usually a line to check out, but the cashiers work like mad people. Most importantly — Aldi takes cash or debit cards ONLY(know your pin if you are often cashless), and bring a quarter for the shopping cart(you will get your quarter back when you return it– don’t worry).
