UPMC Hamot

It was my first time at the ER last week, they were so rude from the beginning till the end. Zero courtesy in their personal, excepted for the nurse. I waited long time for the doctor to show up and he was 2 minutes with me. He didn’t explain what I have, the causes, medicine or treatment, he didn’t even say good bye, I was waiting for his return at the room until the nurse came to give me the prescription. I had to ask the nurse about the explanations!
However the personal to take your insurance information was like 20 minutes with me (making sure that I have the insurance and everything in order to pay) It was clear that’s what they care, not about the patient.
The girl that was in the checkout desk was discourteous, Not even because I am going to pay you can you say hi or smile? Wow!
This shouldn’t called Emergency because they don’t treat you like one.
This is a Private Hospital (and expensive one), we are patients! They offer a service however they don’t know how to treat us like a customer. This is not a free service, I am paying a lot so, I am expecting a quality and excellent service from every single staff.

I’m going to start this review out with three stars and see where it ends once my father-​in-​law is discharged!
At first we were sorta happy that we found a decent parking spot — then it was easy to find my father-​in-​law. That’s was when the happy times seemed to end — at least for awhile.
His nurse Dave acted as if we were a nuisance to him — preventing him from maybe doing his job. Though part of that job is dealing with the family — we certainly didn’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling with this man! Yes — we know what nurses go through — my wife is an occupational therapist and works with them all the time, but this was not right! He barely told us anything and gave us one stupid answer after another — basically not answering anything. Then when it was time for my dad to eat — he went from a liquid diet to a regular diet to NO DIET and finally a regular kidney diet once I talked to two other nurses! Dave was about as useful as nipples on a bull! We were VERY happy my dad was being moved to another floor because at this rate — and with the nurse not scanning properly we felt dad needed more care and concern than he was receiving.
From the 4^th floor up to the 7^th floor we went and happiness was soon back in our life — with Kyle and Patty treating my dad and our family with the utmost respect and dignity! Leaving us feeling as though dad was now in much better care then a few floors down!
As for the place itself — as always it seemed decent — almost all the staff certainly seemed friendly enough — please seemed clean — and everything seemed to operate correctly.
The only other review I’ve seen for this place talked as if it were for women only, which it is not — it’s the same olé Hamot Hospital it’s always been and certainly not a 5 star!

I always enjoyed Hamot, but recently the staff has been beyond rude & disgusting. You would think you were asking for things completely beyond the scope of there job to get your sheets changed, or order food from the cafeteria staff. They have no grasp of hospitality or sensitivity to the patient. Completely unimpressed. I think the entire staff should undergo communication & sensitivity courses before being allowed to deal with patients again.

This women’s hospital is just over a year old and absolutely fantastic! They have jacuzzi tubs in the labor room and the recovery rooms are nice and spacious.
I would fly in from out of town just to have my next baby here that is how awesome this hospital is. Every person who was involved in my Labor, Delivery and Recovery was first rate. Many of the RN’s treated my baby as if she was there own which was very comforting for a first time mom.
I can not say enough great things about this hospital. OB Gyn Associates of Erie delivers here and I every single Doc on their staff is wonderful.
