This is the place to go to when in Ephrata. The service was exceptional, friendly, prompt and accurate. The food was exactly as I expected. Delicious. I had breakfast and my husband had lunch(usually difficult to find in the morning hours). I asked about where to find chicken fried chicken(it is not on their menu), the chef assured me that he would be more than happy to make me some next time we eat there. I will definitely recommend to anyone and everyone that wants my opinion, this truly is the place to eat at in Ephrata!

I hate leaving reviews like this, but my experience here was so terrible I feel I need to warn people. When my fiancé and I arrived, the waitress was occupied chatting with what I later found out was her son. When she came to greet us, her salutation was a ‘Don’t have kids, heh, heh’… She brought our drinks and didn’t come back for our orders for another 10 – 15 minutes, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. When she came back to take our order, her mouth was FULLOFFOOD. I’m not kidding, it was gross to listen to her talk to us while crumbs were literally falling out of her face onto the table. When the food arrived, she set our plates down and walked off, and there was no silverware on the table. I had to get up and ask her for some, and when she brought it, she joked that I looked ‘too proper’ to eat with my hands, but my fiancé clearly wasn’t…WTF does that mean? Regarding the food, my omelette was okay, but my hash browns were both burned AND freezer burned – totally inedible. I wish I’d said something, but we’d already waited quite a while for our food and I didn’t feel like asking for new ones. I can appreciate the staffing constraints of a small town diner, but I think they could find someone who didn’t reek like cigarettes, take orders with their mouth full and insult their patrons. I was hoping to find a little breakfast gem in the small town of Ephrata, but was pretty disappointed. Other people have left nice reviews of this place, so I’m hoping my experience was a one-off thing, but I would definitely not risk going back their again.

Overall, if you want a large, yummy breakfast you should stop by Wanda’s Country Café. There’s friendly service and good food. Just get your coffee before or after at a nearby café. ;) You could tell there was one cook and one waitress, so there was a wait. I ordered the veggie omelet with hashbrowns and was not disappointed. Not only was it enough food for a second meal, I was also pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t overly greasy. Aside from the out-of-date decorations and watered down coffee, I would recommend this place for a delicious & huge breakfast.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. We came in at a fairly busy time but was greeted warmly by the waitress. She changed the tv so that the kiddos could be entertained by some cartoons and made sure that we were comfortable and apologized for the wait. If you can patiently wait, this place is great for a good heaping portion breakfast at a low low price. The only thing I would say is be prepared for diner style watery coffee, other than that everything we ordered was so tasty. I would recommend this to anyone driving through.

This is an embarrassment of a restaurant. My friend and I were looking for a breakfast place and the locals said to go there, even though none had been themselves. Once we walked in at 1120am we were greeted promptly with coffee and waters. The couple next to us had just sat down also. Within the time we sat there the what I am assuming as «the usuals/locals» came in and were served their meals first. We were served out meals at 1215pm. That would be after the people next to us had already eaten paid and left. It was(1) 2 pieces of French Toast with two pieces of bacon &(2) 2 scrambled egges 2 German sausages and hash browns with toast. ONEHOUR!!! The kitchen is open view of the dinning area and what I saw the cook do was appalling. The female blonde cook was on the portable black phone repeatedly, at least 5 times for an extended time. Her kids come in over and over into the cooking area without any care of hygiene. One kid with tattoos on his underarms and calves(pointing out for the owner to authenticate) even harassed our server to borrow $ 10 and take it from his tips tomorrow. When the meal finally arrived it was a travesty of inadequate food. The German Sausages was simply One wiener. The Hash browns were browned on the outside and raw in the middle and the eggs were flavorless. EMBARRASSED is what Wanda Fencl should be. I tried to reach her on her cel and she ducked all of my calls. I would never eat here again and would never recommend anyone who ever visits the Gorge Amphitheater to eat at this café. Wandas Country Café is what I would call the worse dinning experience I had ever had.

If you are looking for a good, local place to grab a meal, this is the place to stop. But be prepared… the waitress has attitude. Our party was entertained by her playful jabs(she gave us nicknames; Giggles, Mr. Giggles, miss Tea, and Horse Whisperer for our friend that busted his leg falling off a horse). Also make sure you ask what is in the food if you have allergies. We found out at the end of the meal that they put flour in their scrambled eggs. Awesome for making great fluffly eggs… not so good for our friend that is allergic to gluten.

We stepped in for seriously 10 seconds the waitress looked at my family and said«I don’t have any room for you guys». Yes, they were busy, but when you are a Family of color visiting a predominantly white town you can’t help but be aware of occurrences like this. She could have apologized and said«I’m sorry we are full» or «I’m sorry but we won’t be able to seat you for a while». Obviously this left me and my family livid. We won’t be coming here again.

When we stopped at Wandas we walked in the door and the waitress said s*** as we entered the restaurant. Then it was a seat yourself diner and so my party and I preceded to clean off our own table. We sat a few more more minutes unattended too and then got up to get our own menus. As we continued to sit for another twenty minutes or so we decided to get up and leave. It was under staffed and the staff was very unfriendly.

Very happy we stopped! We were out looking for the local range and luckily got lost and stumbled upon Wanda’s and here I am now writing a review of how awesome they were! Food was great/plentiful/reasonably priced. Pics of menu attached. Definitely a local hangout; say hi to Tom and enjoy chatting with the waitress! We had a great time and a great meal, with coffee for both my wife and I all for under. $ 20. Thanks Wanda’s!

This is an adorable local All American diner. The waitresses are awesome. Went here after sleeping through free breakfast at the Best Western after a great Arcade Fire concert at the gorge. Glad we did. We had combo(delicious) and Cowpoke(pretty good) with homemade biscuits and gravy. Great Sat morning brunch.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon drive. Waited almost twenty minutes for water. The waitress apologized and said they were very busy and she couldn’t take our order yet because the grill was full. There was a table with six people sitting at it and a smattering of other customers in the place. On my way back from the bathroom I did notice that the grill area was completely covered with food, there simply was no place left to cook anything! Crazy! Talk about small! Finally placed our orders and began another wait. The poor waitress was running around and trying to help people but just couldn’t keep up. Folks finally got up and poured their own coffee and waters. One cook, one waitress, and a dishwasher(who occasionally helped with coffee service) just wasn’t getting the job done. Food finally arrived, my wife’s hamburger was so greasy it soaked the bun. My patty melt was okay, the fries were kinda nasty. Went to pay and get out and found that we couldn’t tip our waitress because we were using a debit card. No cash among us so I apologized and we left. Very awkward. Next time though Ephrata we won’t be stopping here again.

We were on a roadtrip and were very hungry, we stopped in on a whim and were pleasantly surprised! The server was so kind and friendly! The food was good, we got French toast, veggie omelete, and the standard eggs/hashbrowns/toast. The 5 rating is for the server, she made these out of towners feel very welcome!

Years ago, on the way back from Sun Lakes, we stopped here for breakfast. I had a Mexican or maybe Chili Omelet, and it had a delicious chili-like meat sauce with the omelet(hmmm, maybe chorizo?). I stlll remember that omelet all these years later, that’s how good it was. I think I was probably ravenously hungry, so maybe that’s a factor too. Next time I’m out that way, I’ll stop in again!

Just what you’d expect of a small town, family-run establishment. The menu is pretty straightforward, it’s got the basics with a couple of twists. I ordered the Hobo omelet. Wow, very big portion(I could only eat about 2/3’s of it) and was very tasty. The service was great and attentive. The restaurant itself was easy to find(right on the towns main street), was quaint, clean and intimate. Overall, a very pleasant and delicious experience.

I was pleasantly surprised. Most Mom&Pop places are only so-so for breakfast but this place did a great job. We had a party of 6 on a very busy Saturday morning. We sat in the front of the restaurant at a table big enough for up to 8 people. 2 kids and 4 adults we had chicken fried steak, eggs, toast, biscuits and gravy, pancakes and an omlette. All we very good and made to order. Service was fast and no nonsense. Iced water in a pitcher on the table, glasses available. Coffee, tea juice in the large mug-style mason jars. The portions are huge but that’s always a plus for breakfast. There is a TV in the far corner but its not terribly loud or huge. It’s normal noise level and a great friendly atmosphere.

Let’s face it, Ephrata is in the middle of nowhere, so you have to be happy when you stumble upon a mom n pop café that’s open for business and serves decent food. I had an egg and cheese omelet and it aimed to please.
