Description

Specialties

Our teachers seek the integration of biblical truth into each subject and discipline. We want our graduates to possess critical thinking skills in the framework of a biblical worldview.

Student-driven mentoring has proven that young people are more successful and less likely to have destructive lifestyles if they are involved in a mentoring program.

Christian Formation classes study the Bible and explore ways to integrate biblical principles into students’ lives.

Creative Arts enable us to allow artistic expression for our students to find the voice for their passions and dreams.

Keeping class size small and student/teacher ratios low enables us to focus on learning and relationships. Our small, relational community fosters a welcoming environment that encourages older students to purposefully befriend and encourage younger students.

Helping our students grow in passion for God and His work in the world involves community outreach and at least one required cross-cultural mission trip.

History

Established in 1991.

The foundations for what would become Jim Elliot Christian School were laid when three groups of people began to pray independently for God’s provision in developing a new Christian secondary school in the Denver area. The participants, representing twenty-one families and eleven churches, identified key elements of what they considered as a truly Christian education.

Meeting approximately once every three weeks, this founding group of people continued to lay the groundwork for a new Christian school to open in the fall of 1991.

Jim Elliot School officially opened in September of 1991 as a middle school/high school with twenty-three students representing twenty families. The school also affiliated with the educational institution Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). In 2004 our Board approved a name change to Jim Elliot Christian School to better reflect our spiritual emphasis to the community.
