Nachum Loss, PT., MS., GDAMT., is the co-​founder of Holistic Manual Physical Therapy, and a physical therapist and rehabilitation specialist.

With over 30 years of physical therapy experience, Nachum Loss was the former physical therapist for the Israeli National Women’s Volley Ball team. Today, he has built an award-​winning practice in Englewood, New Jersey, which holds the unique distinction of being a participating provider for The Hospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation Network in Bergen County.

It was established as a family owned business in 1989, we started in Englewood NJ and we are still in the same town.

The main practice is Hands on Manual Therapy approach concomitant with exercises and modalities (laser, US, electrical stimulation, heat, cold etc).

I had discovered this PT place on my own based on some reviews and also the way the modality was advertised. I was working on recovering from a ligament issue and among several other modalities I chose to explore this one. I called to check on their technique and approach. The PT seemed annoyed that I had questions. He wanted me to rely on the website description only. I found the communication style very strange. I thought that this may be a stylistic thing. One can overlook stylistic matters if the competency is there.
During my 1st visit I realized that the therapist had a very rough demeanor. I tried 2 – 3 sessions over the course of 30 – 45 days and I must say that I have yet to come across such a brazen and rude service provider. I have come across far more knowledgeable people who guide their patients and have decent communication skills. They also advise them what to do after the session or in their day to day in terms of exercise and so forth. There were no instructions provided to me except for repeated confrontational conversation. In addition, if I will ask a question instead of a response I will get a convoluted drivel with no head and tail.
Before a session, he would ask questions and then refute his question. That is his technique of refining his questions and improving himself. To give an example, I was asked after my 3rd session, «how do you feel?» I responded, «much better». Since I had been taking my other personal exercise classes and practising other modalities that were helping me out I was feeling much better Rather than being pleased with my progress as well as self work to improve the condition, I was told, «how do you know that?» When I responded, I was told that’s not what he was asking. He constantly refutes himself and would waste your time in conflicting analysis /​rude commentary and unrelated analogies /​examples. It’s like someone is engaged in loud self talk.
On my very recent visit, I decided to cut my trip short when I saw the past few visits’ trend repeating. I have previously tried several holistic therapy places and have come across extremely competent and decent holistic service providers who know how to communicate. Here, I was left with a very distasteful experience.

Great physical thetapist! I have been to him on many occasions most recently being when I severely strained my neck during recreational climbing to the point that I was stuck with my head tilted to one side (ouch!) And I immediatly went to him. He worked his magic with his hands and taped me up with his kinesthetic tape which greatly alleviated my pain. I called and he fit me in right away which I always appreciate. He also gives me exercises to do at home that are a great supplement to his therapy treatments for my lumbar spondylosis. I wouldn’t trust my back with anyone else!
