Fit To Smile

I always get my teeth cleaned about twice a year. The only work I’ve had done other than that is a crown on a tooth that broke in an accident. I went to fit to smile because i heard about them from someone at my gym and i needed a dentist that took my new insurance. The program they have to credit you for going to the gym is pretty cool, so I thought I would check it out. I made a mistake.
The cleaning was OK but seemed pretty rushed. The doctor came in and barely introduced himself. He didn’t seem concerned, he seemed snobby, rude, and condescending. He told me that a bunch of my teeth need small cavities and then added that I need a mouth guard because he can see i grind my teeth a lot! I have never had a cavity in my life before.
I went to a different dentist and told them this story. They told me that I might need to have ONE cavity in the future, but that they would wait until next year to see if it has gotten any worse. ONE! They said they do not recommend the mouth guard because my teeth show no grinding at all.
Warning — get a second opinion if you get hit with a huge list of work to do at this place! I guess they need to pay for all of that advertising somehow…

After not going to the dentist for several years before, I have been going to Dr. Redfearn for about two years. I started going with a bad fear of dental services. They are great and have always kept my concerns in mind. I now go regularly. The staff is wonderful. Dr. Redfearn really cares. It’s a refreshing change from the chain places. They also have different hours for different days so they have been able to accommodate appointments in the morning, middle of the day, and after work. I’ve been very happy with them. And the fitness incentive is odd and nice. It was a big part of my signing up for my first 5k.

I made a decision a couple years ago to change my dentist to Dr. Redfearn at Fit to Smile because he has a passion for running and a great story. He incentivizes patients for healthy living, offering credits for race bibs and registrations. The staff is incredibly friendly and full of enlightening conversation, even at 7 in the morning!
If you have an active lifestyle and consider yourself a casual athlete or more, stop in for a consult… you’ll feel right at home!

Dr Redfearn couldn’t have made me feel more at home during my visit! I am a new patient who is very impressed! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly in this office and I will recommend this dentist to all my friends and coworkers. Not to mention I was able to use my yoga payments towards my filling and the money I paid for my kids sports counted too! I am so blessed to have found this office!

In my recent experience, it has been difficult to receive competent medical and dental care.
Not so with Fit To Smile!
My son has been suffering from severe dental pain for several years. After being given up on by his previous dentist, I enrolled him with Dr Redfearn at Fit To Smile. I have been a patient there for over a year, referred by my mother, who has been a patient there for several years.
Dr Redfearn is the FIRST dentist to accurately diagnose the cause of my son’s pain. He performed a thorough and lengthy work up, and presented his findings with professionalism and compassion. Both he and the staff have worked diligently and thoughtfully to help us locate an oral surgeon who accepts his insurance, and who will be a qualified practitioner to perform a serious and complicated procedure to reconstruct his jaw.
It is a tremendous relief to FINALLY have an accurate diagnosis.
I have seen many dentists in my life. Few can compare to the excellence in care and treatment that we have all received from the wonderful staff at Fit To Smile! !
I have and do recommend them to many people I know.
They always take great care of us!

This dental practice changed its name from Legacy Dental. Go read the reviews under that name and you’ll see the name change was probably to escape the negative feedback. This dentist has a beautiful office and fancy equipment, but he’s unethical — don’t be fooled like we were.

After 2 years with another family oriented dentist running a small practice (only needed cleanings there) — and not suffering a single issue that had constantly concerned Legacy Dental I am bumping them down to 1 star. I still get pissed occasionally thinking about the crown which I feel was completely unnecessary now. I feel sorry for anyone else that goes in and suddenly needs a ton of work when they likely don’t. They may run a friendly and professional office but I would highly encourage you get a 2^nd opinion from a recommended dentist before spending a single dime on dental work there.

This is by far the worst dental office I’ve experienced. I think there is a great amount of subjectivity in dentistry which affords unethical dentists the opportunity to increase profits by selling services a patient does not need. I believe this is what Dr. Redfearn attempted to do when telling me that I had three cavities which needed filling.
This is my opinion. But I will tell my whole story & you can decide what you think.
I visited legacy dental for a cleaning in fall of 2012. I was 28 yrs old & I’ve only had 1 or 2 cavities in my life. I’ve always had regular cleanings & my previous dentist (very good ethical dentist in Wichita, KS) had said my teeth looked good at my last cleaning earlier in 2012.
Dr. Redfearn at legacy dental said that I had three cavities. He wanted to fill these the same day. He also said I had a couple more teeth which appeared to be forming cavities which would likely need to be filled in the next 6 months. Since this was a very unusual experience for me (most dentists have said my teeth look good), I did not get any of my «cavities» filled.
Since then I have been to regular dental cleaning appointments at two different dentists. Both offices took X-​rays. Both dentists told me I have ZERO cavities.
My advice: DO NOT GET ANY CAVITIES FILLED HERE!!! At the very least, be weary of this doctor’s opinions & get a second opinion to be sure you need the work.

Dr. Redfearn and the entire Fit To Smile team are fantastic and I have only oodles of good things to say about them. They make the whole dental experience really pleasant and positive, which is pretty remarkable for something that typically isn’t much fun at most practices. I’ve been going to this practice for almost 4 years and they’ve always done excellent work, and even when I move to the other side of town I know the drive will still be far worth it to stay with them because I just can’t imagine a better experience (unless they served margaritas…).
I also really like their new name and the tremendous support they have for their patients’ health and fitness — which is yet another way they show that they really care about their patients as people, not just their teeth. Fit To Smile is a wonderful practice that makes you feel like you have not just a dentist, but a real partner in your dental and overall health. I highly recommend Dr. Redfearn to my closest family and friends, and of course, to all you Unilocalers too!

Several years later, I’m still happy with my dentist! I’ve never been pressured to do anything I didn’t believe was necessary; I haven’t been told I have cavities when I didn’t; and I’ve always left feeling great about my experience. I drive out of my way to use this office and will continue doing so. They offer a very affordable package that covers two cleanings and discounts off of most procedures for patients who don’t have dental insurance. Thanks Fit To Smile!

Legacy dental group, now Fit To Smile, is a wonderful dental practice. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are a family practice that treats me like family as well– they all always remember every thing from my personal life that we discuss. The last time I went in everyone immediately congratulated me on my recent wedding, even though it had been over 6 months since my last visit! I love that kind of treatment!
The dental staff is very thorough and NEVER pushy. I don’t use fluoride and when I expressed this to them they were very understanding and went out of their way to make sure they used fluoride free products. I have no idea where other reviews would get the idea of being up sold… I have been going here for over 2 years and have never had that experience.
The doctor is very kind and easy to talk to, I trust him to do a stand up job and have never been let down. He even told me my wisdom teeth were starting to look troublesome and I ignored it… 2 weeks later I was in more pain than you can imagine! Talk about knowing your business! He referred me to a wonderful oral surgeon who got me in quickly and did a great job.
I also like that they advocate a healthy lifestyle. Fitness and health go hand in hand, of course that includes your teeth!
All in all, I couldn’t be happier with the service Fit To Smile provides.

I said I’d come back and update my review after giving this practice some time. Well… it’s the worst office I’ve ever been to. Used to have perfect teeth. Now I’ve had two root canals due to shoddy work. Looking at the newer reviews, I’m not alone!!! This office is like a beautiful woman you see across a room, but once you get close, you see that she has a beard and her hand is on your wallet. Don’t get fooled and end up in constant pain like me.

There should be an option for no stars!!! DON’T GO! They try to upsale you. Yes, at a dental office! Somewhere you expect an honest opinion and honest work and not to be treated like you’re at a car dealership. They do not stand behind their work. If you have a problem with the already expensive work you paid for, don’t expect them to take care of it. Oh, did i mention, a tech did my work and the Dr. didnt even check it. They come across as a nice family practice, its not!!!

I went to Legacy because of these reviews and I can’t stop telling my friends to go there. I doubted the reviews could stand up to their claims but they did and more. It’s a very bright, nicely decorated office. The staff remembered it was my birthday, they ask you what you want to watch on TV (tv in every room), asked if you want a blanket, and the chairs have BACK MASSAGERS! It’s nuts, I was dreading going to the dentist at 7am on my birthday but it was really, a nice experience. I’m totally fine giong back to get all my fillings taken care of because I know I will be comfortable and they will do a great job.

I hate the dentist. I mean:
. I’ve had cavities since I got teeth and have spent more time in the dentist’s chair than I care to admit. I swear I brush.
After having a *nightmare* experience at another location (see my other review), I have had two teeth that cracked due to an ill-​fitting crown placed there. I made an appointment and they got me in the following afternoon. Legacy Dental stands out from ALL other dentists I’ve been to over the past 30 years in several ways:
First: the ambiance — the waiting room is somewhat small, but pleasant (no old tweed chairs here), with a fireplace and flatscreen TV that always seems to have HGTV on. They also have water bottles and snacks for when you leave. The rooms have massaging chairs (as other reviewers have mentioned) and personal flatscreen TV’s that can maneuver over you and you can watch your choice of 5000 channels while they work on your teeth (mine was several episodes of Friends — it made a two-​crown visit MUCH faster).
Second: The staff. Everyone — from the receptionists to the dental hygienists and assistants — is warm and friendly (and even laughed at my jokes).
Third: Dr. Redfearn. Sometimes I feel like the (male) dentist is the Warren Jeffs of the dental world. I have been to some questionable dentists in my time, ones that flirt with their assistants while working on my teeth. It’s weird and uncomfortable. Not so with Dr. R — very professional, honest, and comfortable. He gave me a fair appraisal of the future work I need to get done and a reasonable timeline for it, and told me to never lose my dental insurance. Well said, Doctor.
Not only that, but he went the extra mile — after realizing the aforementioned crown fit so terribly, he stopped his work on my other broken tooth and said the crown was really bad, and he was going to contact the other dentist to get them to reimburse me for it. (They did, eventually).
Finally: They remembered me — I am a valued patient. When I called regarding some insurance questions several weeks after my last visit, I barely got out a few words before the gal acknowledged me by first name, knew my story, and offered to contact my insurance company for me. Maybe it was my funny jokes that made me so memorable, or maybe this is just how well this practice is run.
At any rate: they’ve made a believer out of me. I’ll be a Legacy Dental patient for as long as I have teeth (which is awhile yet, thanks to them).

This place is truly amazing. I don’t have insurance and they were really helpful in offering a variety of financial options, as well as let me get work done at my pace with no pressure. Dr. Redfearn and staff are all very friendly and welcoming. They use the best equipment, explain what they are doing rather than just prod in your mouth, and even show you pictures of your teeth on a flat screen tv (that you can watch whatever channel you want on while you wait). I’ve honestly never had such a positive dental experience (the chairs even massage!) Will definitely stick with this dentist in the future.

I can’t believe I’m the first to review, this place is like a spa!
I’ve moved several times over the last few years, and it seems I’m always in search of a decent dental experience. Usually, I leave fairly disappointed. Not this time!
Perhaps I still live in the dark ages, but I had no idea how modern and comfortable dentistry has become, or can be, at the right dentist. Legacy Dental is the closest to a spa-​like environment I have ever experienced. Examples:
–new patient welcome package, complete with reusable ‘green’ grocery bag
–personal flat screen tvs with direct tv (you can watch tv while you get cleaned)
–choice of 5 or so polish flavors (strawberry, vanilla, etc)
–massaging chairs
–digital pictures of your teeth (I was able to see a close up of my new cavity!)
–high tech tools that no dentist has ever used on me in the past. They used some type of sensor that measures the level of decay in each tooth.
–Super nice and accommodating staff, from the receptionist to dentist.
I was definitely impressed with the service. Legacy Dental does a great job of making you feel comfortable during a sometimes uncomfortable process. I felt they did a very thorough job examining my teeth… and couldn’t help but wonder if my previous exams at other clinics were nearly as thorough.
One more thing… I was able to get an appt as a new patient within a week. They have appts until ⁶⁄₇ for working folk, double plus.
**For those of you who have been told you will need to pay for a copy of your x-​rays (from the last dentist) when coming in as a new patient, no worries here. Legacy didn’t require me to get a copy from my last dentist, so technically I saved money too! Woo hoo!
