Bailey’s Moving and Storage

Well, I am glad I chose Bailey’s Moving and Storage before I read Unilocal,because all I can say is, that their team is the BEST. My family used their services in our recent move from Colorado to Nevada. They made it a seamless, hassle free experience. It’s not easy to set up a move anytime, anywhere; however, it adds another dimension when you are living 1,500 miles from where your home is, and moving to yet a third location. The entire team we interacted with were fabulous. The recommendations service and care provided by Mr. Brian Larson included professional guidance and recommendations. Actually, we had similar friendly, professional service from everyone, starting with the Bailey staff in the office the efficient, professional field moving staff. All I can say, these folks are my ‘go to team’ in moving, and they should be your team too!

Just spent $ 23k to move from Colorado to Florida. Baileys packers/​movers scattered the important parts needed to assemble our furniture wily nilly among all the boxes. I arrived home on evening of delivery day (I was working, wife was coordinating delivery) to a sea of half assembled furniture and boxes because delivery people couldn’t locate needed hardware. The local delivery people left us that evening to finish the job ourselves. There we were, first night In our new home, in a morass of half finished furniture and cryptically marked boxes. I didn’t sleep well. The next day we regained composure and started the detective work to locate the missing hardware. We managed to locate the hardware in various locations and fortunately I had tools and strong sons to finish the furniture assembly which we paid Allied to do.
This is the 5^th move in my professional career and by far the worst. I can’t imagine you could pick a worse mover.

Incompetent. They were constantly asking me to sign papers I had already signed and calling me for the same information over and over. The movers left various pieces of furniture which we fortunately caught before they left. They didn’t arrive until 2pm for an 8 hour job and therefore were there until 10pm at night! They were not careful at all and ended up breaking a light bulb in a fixture (fortunately not breaking the fixture itself)
When delivering our material the driver clearly never communicated with the Bailey’s coordinator, Rukiya, as he had no idea where he was supposed to deliver my stuff. And the coordinator did not run my credit card prior to delivery and therefore the driver arrived and refused to unload the truck because he did not have payment. Now I was two time zones away so Rukiya wasn’t in the office yet and I was stuck trying to scramble to get together a cashier’s check so he would actually unload the truck.
I’m extremely disappointed with the service.

I have since found many more missed items that the packer didn’t pack, pictures on the wall in the toilet room, the bathroom trash can, stool, etc. It has now cost me $ 154 to ship those items by UPS! It cost $ 20 to replace the rug they took.
I have left messages, sent emails, and have not had ONE response back from Bailey’s!

Scheduling, pick up, and first of two deliveries went without a problem. Would have resulted in five stars. But final delivery was a problem. On Friday night, the driver texted us that delivery would be on Easter Sunday. We later found out that Easter Sunday was off limits for delivery by Allied policy. Only problem, the loading dock in our building was not open then. The driver offered two alternatives: he would park on the street and dump our stuff there, or he would take it back to North Carolina with him as he had an appointment on Monday to have his truck in the shop. Had to search and find the only storage unit in Philadelphia nearby with Easter Sunday hours and have the delivery there. Cost me over $ 800 to have it delivered to me from the storage unit by another mover. Bailey’s would not take responsibility as they said the driver told them he offered me a Saturday delivery time, which he did not. I talked to the driver on Saturday and he was in Columbia MD making a delivery. Very poor service, and dishonest driver.

We used Bailey’s Moving & Storage 15 years ago for a local move and they did a great job, so I called them back for a second local move — and it was a disaster. My second mistake (after calling Bailey’s…) was not adding the $ 1,047 insurance. My Allstate agent suggested that, since it was a local move (1.5 miles or so), it would not be necessary. What we didn’t know is that the Bailey’s crew handles customers’ belongings one way if they’re insured and another (indifferent/​reckless) way if they’re not insured. The crew completely destroyed or damaged $ 6,400 worth of furniture that had to be tossed or repaired (at my expense). The bulk of the damage occurred based on how our furniture was (improperly/​carelessly) stacked/​secured in their truck. The balance of the damage resulted from the movers removing the protective padding/​plastic outside (near the truck) and then banging the furniture up on the way into the house. Really poor judgment. The crew definitely did not handle our possessions with care. Really shoddy — especially when you’re paying top dollar for a «professional» crew as opposed to using the cheapest service you can find. They also laid down plastic and cardboard initially but then would use other access points that had not been protected. More laziness and indifference toward the customer. I’ll give one star because, in the end, most of our property made it from Point A to Point B in one piece. And I’ll give a second star because everything occurred on the dates scheduled. But I would NEVER recommend or use Bailey’s Moving & Storage again. In fact, my father-​in-​law downsized from a 5,000 sq. ft. condo to a 1,700 sq. ft. condo a month later and we hired Buehler Mayflower movers. Everything went smoothly, nothing was damaged, and I would not hesitate to recommend Buehler Mayflower based on my experience.

Prior to Baileys Moving Company coming over I had personally packed some of my valuable items in their own boxes to insure sufficient packaging. Last minute they decided to add another costumer’s items on to my truck, therefore they unpacked the worked I had already done, cramming my items onto their truck to fit their other customers belongings on with mine. I was then told that I was not covered for any broken items because I «initially» packed my items, even though they repacked it all. I was left with MANY broken items that could not be replaced or reimbursed for. Nancy their office manager was a huge disappointment during my experience. Her attitude was very off setting: patronizing, rude and argumentative, just to describe a few. Bringing the issue to the owner, Kevin Becksteav’s attention was worthless. He failed to respond to the extensive amount of phone calls and voicemails I had left for him. After trying for a few weeks Kevin ended up blocking my phone number, leaving me without a way to contact him. Overall spending over 20,000.00 on my move I was EXTREMELY disappointed with my experience. They failed to resolve any of my issues; their pity reimbursement didn’t even begin to cover the damage they caused during this move. I wouldn’t recommend this company to a single sole. Bailey’s Moving Company should be avoided at ALL causes.

Key take-​aways: Don’t use Bailey’s and don’t rely on a moving company to ship any necessary items, no matter how heavy they are.
Contract for moving signed on ⁹⁄₃. Delivery contracted for 10÷19−10÷22 for household items and a car shipment (separate, but both coordinated through Bailey’s).
All clothing, shoes, and safes were transported on ⁹⁄₁₄ via our two cars and I did not ask for a revised (lowered) estimate with wardrobe boxes and labor removed.
Signed rental contract on ¹⁰⁄₁₃ for move-​in on ¹⁰⁄₁₉ in order to receive household items.
Items and car packed on ¹⁰⁄₁₄ and loaded on ¹⁰⁄₁₅ as promised.
Legacy delivered car on ¹⁰⁄₁₇ and driver demanded $ 500 in cash for delivery, later reimbursed.
Contacted Kasey at Bailey’s on ¹⁰⁄₁₈ to correct my address for the fourth time (once to Bailey’s as an update, once to Legacy for car delivery, once to Legacy driver, and again to Bailey’s for itemized paperwork filled out upon packing and loading) and requested a refined ETA if possible as delivery could come as early as the next day and no updates were available online (
).
Received email on ¹⁰⁄₁₈ at 2:30pm (Friday) from Sonya in customer service stating that delivery will be delayed as they do not have a driver available until ¹⁰⁄₂₆. Delivery won’t be until at least ¹⁰⁄₂₉.
Worked with Cyndi in Bailey’s customer service on alternate options for at least the 1300lb toolbox, which was required for employment (employment start date was contracted for ¹⁰⁄₂₂)
Cyndi contacted me on ¹⁰⁄₂₁ to say that the toolbox was unloaded from the warehouse and will be on a truck that day with delivery promised by 1pm on ¹⁰⁄₂₃.
Call received on ¹⁰⁄₂₃ from «dispatcher» stating that toolbox will not arrive and they do not know where the toolbox is. Call-​back was promised and never occurred.
I worked with Vickie P at Allied and Cyndi at Bailey’s on ¹⁰⁄₂₃ and was notified that toolbox was never loaded and remained in warehouse in Salt Lake.
Cyndi worked with company that promised to deliver the toolbox to get the toolbox overnight shipped with a promise that it will arrive on ¹⁰⁄₂₄ by 3pm. It arrived by 3pm on ¹⁰⁄₂₄. My husband is fortunately, thankfully employed.
Cyndi and I communicated about household goods and she let me know that she spoke with a North American driver who can likely get the items to our house by ¹⁰⁄₂₈.
Driver again had my wrong address and I corrected it. Driver arrived on ¹⁰⁄₂₈ with all household goods. Damage was incurred at packaging stage on one headboard and a claim was filed on ¹⁰⁄₂₈ (don’t try to send them a link to your exact item– they use their own averages). Delay claim form emailed to Vickie P on ¹⁰⁄₂₈.
A letter arrived from Evan M at Allied on ¹¹⁄₅ stating that ~$ 500 of my ~1300 reasonably spent dollars would be reimbursed because their two reimbursement options cannot accommodate our unique situation. I voiced my concern about this to Vickie P who stated that no further reimbursement would be approved and I asked to work with her supervisor who also confirmed no further reimbursement would be issued.
Essentially, we were expected to live in a new rental place that had a move-​in date concordant with the expected arrival of our things, sleep on the floor with no blankets, not buy dishes or linens, and eat out for every meal (which would be reimbursed at 50%, but don’t get smart and try to get groceries– not reimbursed) until our delivery arrived.
Unbelievable.

This company was definitely worth the money if you have possessions that you care about and can’t easily be replaced. Our move was to the opposite side of the state and most of our things are antique and very fragile. I asked the dispatcher to send the most experienced guys as this was going to be a demanding move with all the antiques. They definitely sent the «A Team». Even the summer student help knew the correct was to pack fragile items. The Bosnian driver and his son were exceptionally knowledgeable on the correct way to move antique furniture and watched to make sure the entire team of seven movers did it carefully. Also the lead packer, Vicentes, took the utmost care with clocks, paintings, glass lamps etc. He rocks! Although the initial estimate was the highest of 3 companies, we got the service we expected with minimal damage. Also the estimate was a little high so in the end it was the same as the other companies.

Where I grew up in New Jersey we had a saying ”A good friend helps you move. A best friend helps you move a body.” The problem is that if you move too often (bodies or otherwise) your friends will start to scatter like cockroaches when you need them most. That’s why I opted to use a professional mover the last time I changed residences.
Lucky for me I found a good mover in Bailey’s Moving and Storage. While a professional mover certainly costs more than a U-​Haul and a couple of pizzas, I was very happy with the results from start to finish.
Bailey’s (an agent for Allied) gave me an upfront quote in writing, which I strongly recommend getting before signing any moving contract. They also called to confirm the move a couple days ahead of time. On the day of the move they arrived close to on time (maybe 15 minutes late).
Bailey’s sent two guys to move my stuff from a second floor apartment building. They were fast and did not break anything. They also went straight to my new place and unloaded everything quickly. Since they finished faster than expected I got about 10% off the expected price. Those guys earned a good tip and I would use them again anytime.
