This company is indecent and very much a sleezebag of a place. While I signed up with them, I very quickly had to cancel in the next few months due to life hiccups and called in first to update my card, then called in to cancel because I couldn’t afford this extra cost due to both finding out I couldn’t tan due to a mole that was cancerous and my family’s house burned down. I called and cancelled a separate occasion and a year later happened to notice that I was still getting billed. When I called to cancel and figure out why I was still getting billed the guy was a total smart-ass. I told him I had spent alot of money over a year’s time and I had only used the establishment once. I’ll admit when I did the cost evaluation for how much I had spent I did $ 30 over 24 months instead of 12. So when I told him almost $ 800 for services never used is ridiculous, he laughed at my math and asked me where I got that from, which only made me even angrier rather than asking me politely. He said it’s only around $ 400.00, like somehow that was more acceptable. I explained he could see I hadn’t been in once and he said that it didn’t matter, people do that all the time. I asked if he could refund me anything for the issue. He said he could give me a year’s worth of tanning for free, which is offensive considering that’s why I cancelled because I can’t tan. I asked if he could do spray tans once a month or something as I know they are more expensive, he said no. He did refund me for the current month and told me he would research it further. Everything the guy said was dripping with sarcasm and disdain. He did not treat me as an individual but as some dumb person who didn’t cancel their account like everyone else. The issue isn’t how he couldn’t refund me it was how he talked to me, he had zero compassion or understanding, and simply thought his«have a good day,» comments covered his snarky ass comments and his talking down to me. This is not customer service. Why would you offer me free tanning if I wasn’t in the right, why would you not be more understanding of the situation and since my dates, times called, and entire story was adding up? He followed up but still had the same attitude. The actual Thornton location where I sighed up is actually nice and clean. I don’t remember it well as I got one $ 400 experience there.

Just got my first tan at ATB! Rachel was super helpful and knowledgable about all things tanning. Loved the 360 bed came out instantly darker. It was soothing, relaxing, easy, and super fun! Will be coming back!

This is a great place for tanning! I came in here after not tanning in years. Rachel was very helpful and knowledgeable in explaining the different beds, UV rays, and packages. I’m so happy I found this place!

I totally get the bad reviews this store had in the past; but I have to say, Christine is an awesome store manager. She has really turned this store around; totally spruced up the place, and the beds are always clean and available now. I also like the fact that since she’s become manager, I don’t have to put up with annoying sales pressure from idiots behind the counter EVERY single time I come in! I don’t know what she’s doing differently regarding the staff but I can tell you without a doubt that it’s FAR better than it was a year ago. I used to loathe the staff at that place and almost canceled my membership because of them, but something definitely changed when Christine came in. Now they’re more helpful, curtious, and seem to care more about whether I’m having a good day, rather than what they can ‘sell’ me. And they don’t call me ‘sweetie’ or ‘hun’ and act like they’ve known me for years which is something I cannot stomach. And the former staff was CLUEless when it came to customer satisfaction(force-fed me a bottle of lotion that I was on the fence about, while neglecting to inform me that they have a ‘no return’ policy so if I didn’t like it, tough luck) but I haven’t had a single issue since the new mgt took over which I guess is partly because I learned my lesson, but it’s also because the high-pressure sales, pushy, staff is gone. The only thing I’d recommend(and this has nothing to do with the store staff) is that their corporate ‘powers that be’ simplify the contract and sign up process. It’s RIDICULOUSLY long and drawn out and doesn’t need to be. If there is a new membership underway when I come in, I’ve learned to just be patient because I don’t like to interrupt them but that part of the process is really stupid for how long it takes and all the rigmarole they have to go through. That said, I’m betting the staff have to follow the ‘script’, so that would have to be an owners’ change, I suppose. Too bad they can’t do something about the awful buzzing noise in the Hampden store. Put a wall around the noise maker, or something, geez! I think a tanning salon should have a nice, quiet atmosphere and feel more like a spa than an electrical power farm!

This place is honestly terrible. Don’t go here. The people who work here are unkind and unhelpful to say the least. They made me feel stupid and like I was wasting their time. And it’s their job to be there! At The Beach is a scam of a company and it’s impossible to get out of their contracts. It’s the same story at every location I’ve been to. Find another place to go.

Be advised… Checking in here takes just as long as tanning itself. No one seems to realize I am using my lunch break to tan — What is the hold up?

I wish I could give this place less than one star or even negative stars. Let’s put it this way, my bank is doing a fraud investigation on At The Beach because of their ‘contracts’. I’m out 63 bucks on a 12 minute tan. Unfortunately I did research on the BBB after I got sucked into a bad deal and they have over 500 complaints with their contracts. They call it a ‘customer agreement’ but actually it’s a financed contract and they give your information to a collections agency with a federal disclosure. After receiving the worst customer service I’ve ever had from Cassandra Hatfield, everything from being plain rude and then teling me what package I’m going to get(which was 64.95 a month, that’s ridiculous to pay for tanning anyway) and lying about my first payment up from(we verbally agreed it was 20.00 down and 20.00 a month, then she when she said my total was over 63 bucks I asked her why and she said«Oh sorryyyyyy I forgot to tell you your first month is 39.90») and being in a crappy basic bed, I decided that I wanted to cancel my contract. I had 24 hours to do so, after calling Customer Service several times on finding out what I needed to do but getting 3 different answers(one said I needed a copy of the contract, the other said I didn’t need the contract but something signed that said I wanted to cancel, another said I needed to send it in certified return receipt, etc. etc.) and they told me my pending charge of 63.13 would not go through, well, it did, so my bank and I called them again and they stated that whatever I already paid was non-refundable. I should have walked out immediately, I’m stupd for not doing so and I’ll admit that. It was such a headache and I will never set foot in that store again.
