ConnectOne Bank

ConnectOne Bank I have had an account with for years and I can always say every clerk that ever worked at this location has always been helpful. I am known by name which is nice especially in todays world where you are always 20 minutes late. They always greet you when you walk in the door, they have a change machine, and they have a brand new coffee maker. I love the atmosphere of the bank, it is certainly not a painful experience and will bank with them moving forward if you live in North Jersey look into it!

This bank is awesome! I have a small business account with them. I wrote a check out last week and I was called by the branch manager in West NY that my account will be overdrawn if I don’t deposit the difference by the afternoon. I was panicking since I could not get to the bank today and she worked with me and told me they have a branch in NYC! I mean that’s service! I’ve never had a bank manager call me to warn me my account will be overdrawn! I would just be slapped with fees and those big banks are all the happier. Excellent customer service. Also, the staff in NYC was awesome too and super dooper friendly. Thank you!

This is the worst bank ever. They have an app FINALLY but it barely works and you need to have an insane password that includes symbols and numbers and letters and caps so good luck remembering it. The questions they ask you for «security» to set up the app are out of date so I hope you remember the cross street of your house 20 years ago or the name and city of bank you had your first mortgage with or you wont ever gain app access. The banker told me that he couldn’t even get his set up since the answers to his questions are wrong.
The online banking system (which was set up by the banker for me in person because it is mandatory to do it this way) only shows you 30 days worth of transactions from the day you sign up for online statements. But signing up for online banking and signing up for online statements are not the same thing apparently as I just found out. Even when you sign up it is not retroactive… All other statements are lost. Every other bank in the world has this both ways. In fact the bank this bank bought used to have it both ways so I was used to it. I lost all my statements for the past years. I hope I don’t have to reference them for any reason.
As an aside, everything needs to be done in person at this bank so plan on being off on a weekday between 9 and 5. When you call customer service they transfer you a bazillion times to people in the south who are not happy campers and just keep saying «I have no control over that ma’am.» Its super frustrating. When you say things like every other bank in the 21^st century has this capability why don’t you? They can’t answer. Its seriously like banking in the 70s. When they first bought UCNB they cancelled my debit card and my online banking and I called to see how I could apply for online banking access electronically. They told me I had to go to the branch in which I opened the account and fill out a form. They have no online forms… They couldn’t even email me the form. They only have paper copies that need faxing. I sarcastically asked if they also have carbon copies and typewriters. For crying out loud its 2015. With my capital one account, I can deposit checks from bed. I’ve had this account since I was a teenager. (which is why I want to but find it hard to switch) My mom opened it with me. Since its a community bank there are 5 branches in the town and I couldn’t remember (16 years back) to which one I sat down to open it at… That was a challenge. I spent my whole day off (again during the week 9 – 5) going from branch to branch to find someone to verify I opened the account there.
I am going to have to bite the bullet and switch banks… but that will require me to take a day off from work since I’m sure you have to be there in person at the branch you opened it originally forever ago.
