Established in 1985.

Upon earning his dental degree at the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry, Doctor Shelden served 4 years in the United States Air Force honing his dental skills. After a distinguished military career, Dr. Shelden began his private family practice in general and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Shelden belongs to several dental organizations and dental study clubs. Quality and customer service are very important to Dr. Shelden. He only treats one patient at a time enabling him to focus all of his attention. Dr. Shelden attends well over 20 dental continuing education courses per year allowing him to stay up to date with all the current and newest dental techniques and material.

Dr. Ross C Shelden DDS was born and raised in Los Angeles. He graduated Harvard Westlake High School in 1978. He attended UCSD and UOP. Dr Shelden received his DDS from UOP School of Dentistry in 1985. Following his graduation from dental school, he then served 4 years as a dentist in the United States Air Force. Dr. Shelden received advanced training in cosmetic dentistry with an emphasis on ultra conservative dentistry. This included porcelain veneers, porcelain inlays and onlays, and non-​metallic dental restorations. In addition to the foregoing, Dr. Shelden also offers and performs different types of dental whitening as well as dental implants. Dr. Shelden only treats one patient at a time. Several dental options will be offered following the initial examination. In addition to the other dental services available, Dr. Shelden employs a well qualified dental Hygentist. Saturday appointments are available and validated parking is provided.

It’s a miracle! After living in LA for 14 years, I’ve finally found a dentist that didn’t leave me broke or bloody. And trust me, I’ve had the unfortunate experience of dealing with multitudes of greedy and incompetent dentists in LA – one who explained to me that «it was perfectly normal» that I was bleeding profusely after a routine cleaning, another that had a whole financial department right in their office to explain what type of credit card you should get in order to pay for their ungodly overpriced treatments (only took me a couple of YEARS to pay that one off), you get the idea. I had honestly given up trying to find a dentist that actually gave a damn about their patients along with *gasp!* knowing how to do their job, and dentures started to sound pretty appealing to me (even though I’m only 34) just so I could avoid any further dealings with these hack jobs. Thank God I got a referral to Dr. Sheldon. Not only is he very talented, he also has a great sense of humor and a personality that put me totally at ease, even with a buzzing drill coming towards my face. Plus he explained everything he was about to do, which to me is excellent as I’m usually not too thrilled about someone poking around in my mouth with sharp objects. To top it all off, his staff is very friendly and helpful, which is awesome if you’re not a genius when it comes to dental insurance jargon. I very rarely write reviews and usually would rather suffer than go to a dentist (the only reason I went this time was because my tooth literally cracked apart – can’t just suffer through that one for too long, though I tried…) so that gives you an idea of how satisfied I am with this business. Excellent dentist!!! Extremely knowledgeable and efficient! For many years I had severe tooth/​gum sensitivity and had been to other dentists that were unable to correct it. One visit to Dr. Shelden and he went above and beyond to find the cause of my tooth/​gum sensitivity and fix it. I never thought after all these years I would be able to drink cold water again!!! Words cannot express how happy I am with the results!!! In addition, the staff is wonderful!!!
I would highly recommend him to anyone that is searching for an excellent dentist!!!

Quite simply, the best there is… There are many elements to proper dentistry, a combination of artistry and good judgement, as well as a steady, kind hand– Dr. Shelden has those qualities in abundance and, what is more significant, he really seems to enjoy his work– he actually takes a great deal of pride in what he does, which is rare among other practitioners of Dental Arts that i’ve come across.

Update to my review.
As previously stated I was recommended to Dr. Sheldon and I’m so happy about it. He’s ethical and fair and in my opinion, a perfectionist. His appointments start on time, no waiting around because he’s trying to work on multiple patients. The staff are informative and kind.
After completing some deep cleaning and a crown Dr. Sheldon did some cosmetic work repairing an old chipped tooth and filling in a gap in my two front teeth. I had another dentist tell me the only fix was very expensive veneers. Dr. Sheldon said he could do the job for a fraction of the price and using the less evasive filler. I couldn’t be more happy with the work, he’s an artist.

Ross is an amazing dentist all the way around. He is a perfectionist! He takes care of all of our needs. Whitening, sealant, fillings and he never over treats. He’s kind, caring and he always takes his time. His one on one time with you is priceless… I used to hate the dentist until I found him! If I could give him ten stars I would!!!

BEST DENTIST IN THE WORLD.
Been going to Dr Shelden since I was a kid and as an adult I still love him!
Fixed my chipped youth with out anesthetic and it looked even more gorgeous after my fabulous cleaning!

At times, Dr. Sheldon does great work. Though, as I’d been his client for 15+ years, his poor judgment is now wreaking havoc.
Just one wxample: at 30, I’d not had my Wisdom Teeth pulled and they were decayed. Dr. Sheldon, inexplicably, did not pull the rotten teeth, but filled them. My guess is that he foresaw more work/​income later when his Band-​Aid solution fell apart.
Now, it has, and I’m in pain requiring opiates. Those teeth are now jagged & hollow. I have periodontal disease, and await two root canals and partial dentures. I can’t chew using the hollow teeth, as food slipping inside onto the exposed nerves is
excruciating.
I’ve been questioned by two eminent periodontists as to why Dr. Sheldon did not just remove the Wisdom Teeth upon presentation. I don’t know what to tell these professionals.
Again, Dr. Sheldon’s sometimes bad judgement as caused unrelated problems. Many dentists are out there — don’t roll the dice with this inconsistent practitioner.

As a son of a retired dentist, I am not easily impressed!
Dr. Shelden is a first class and extremely talented dentist. He is thorough and takes tremendous pride in his work. Dr. Shelden and his entire staff are most friendly and accommodating.
His workmanship is second to none and it’s clearly obvious Dr. Shelden loves what he does.
Well worth the visit to his office no matter how close or far you live. A top notch dentist, period!

Dr. Ross is the BEST Dentist I’ve Ever been to — And I’m 68 Years Old. His Staff is the Best too. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sheldon’s for about 5 years, and he has been amazing. I’ve lived all over the country and the world, and throughout the years I’ve had both excellent dentists as well as average or below average dentists. I can confidently say that Dr. Sheldon is as good as they come, and I feel fortunate to have him as my dentist and lucky that he’s less than 10 minutes from my house. I also have taken all my kids, who live out of town, to see him.
The other thing about Dr. Sheldon is that he is honest and conservative. He will tell you what really needs to be done and hold off on what doesn’t. When I first saw him, he took care of some old fillings, but also put a number of teeth and filling on a ‘watch list’ and it took about 4 years until we took care of everything. So you can feel confident that he won’t do excessive work and he’s rates are also reasonable. In addition, his equipment is state-​of-​the art and he is always going to conferences to keep up to date with the latest in dental technology and best practices.
Finally, Dr. Sheldon is an all-​around great guy. I was in his office today and mentioned that I was taking a trip to Mexico, and he spent about 15 minutes just giving me advice about all the best places to go!

I have been going to Dr. Shelden for years, even when I moved out to La Verne, I make the drive, highly recommend him. His professionalism, the efficient and friendly office, my 16 year old is now a patient and loves him, has a special way of making her at ease to make the visit go smooth. I personally don’t like dentist, but Dr. Shelden makes going to the dentist much easier. He really has lots of knowledge and is always professional, explains everything in detail, very meticulous, honest and accommodating. I will keep making the drive, my daughter and I are very happy and will not change our dentist. He is worth the drive and not to mention the professionalism in the office.

This was my first visit to Dr. Shelden and I must say, it was an exceptionally good one. The first thing you notice about Dr. Shelden’s office is this feeling of peacefulness and positivity. The nurses were kind, gentle and professional. Not knowing what to expect initially, I felt a bit tense but after being greeted by Dr. Shelden, all of my concerns quickly subsided. Not only is he a kind and honest individual but you also get this really positive vibe from him, his space and his colleagues. I can honestly say that this was the most pleasurable experience I’ve ever had with a doctor and I’m grateful to have found him. Dr. Shelden and company definitely have a customer for life.

Let me just star by saying that Dr. Shelden is the BEST! He is an amazing dentist and artist! He has rebuilt my smile and I can’t stop smiling. I was in desperate need to get my front tooth crown replaced. It was old, yellow, and too small. I did intensive research before deciding, but I was sold when I witnessed the high standard of work he did on a coworker and his dedication to make my coworker happy. After a crown lengthening and a couple of visits, I am completely satisfied and so happy Dr. Shelden is my dentist. His staff is very friendly and always flexible with my schedule. I highly recommended Dr. Sheldon’s practice.
