Kathi Rose Color Specialist

I came to Kathi about a year ago with a bad experience with my former colorist who seemed scared to do blonde hair. She took forever too… everytime I was there for hours. This particular day the former colorist officially left my hair very brassy orangish. I went to work with my hair in a headband and bun and frantically searched Unilocal.I found Kathi and immediately called. She listened to my issue and was kind enough to make a special trip to the Encino Salon location to fix it that day! I was so relieved. She took a quick look at my hair when we met. asked me what I was looking to achieve which was a light ashy blonde. She reassured me this was not only possible but she was going to make it look amazing. And she did! I get a Brazilian blow out and color/​highlights and trim. She is always using the beset products to protect/​preserve my hair and I couldn’t be happier. In between the sessions I use purple shampoo from clariol called «shimmering lights» and deep mask conditioner with macadamia oil in. My hair is exactly what I always wanted and Im indeed having more fun as a blonde! =P
She is energetic, fun to hang with for the time you’re in the chair and always leaves me beyond happy with the outcome. THANK YOU KATHI!

Kathi and I were saying how upset we were that we didn’t take a before and after photo of my hair when I left the salon after only one visit… I had been going to the same stylist for several years and my hair was different shades of red, blonde, black… basically hot mess and not at all what I wanted… so true story, I worked with a girl and I was mentioning that I loved the color of her hair and that’s what I was trying to accomplish, like a natural-​looking blonde, b/​c I figured that she was a natural blonde. She told me she was a brunette but that she went to this amazing color stylist, Kathi Rose and I asked her to pleassse hook me up with this woman! I truly wasn’t expecting to get much results after one visit b/​c my hair was a hot mess, but Kathi took her time and not only color corrected everything and blended my color beautifully, but I actually walked out of there closer to the color than I had been in years after seeing this other stylist! But she was very honest with me, b/​c my hair is naturally like almost black so to get the super blonde I want, to be realistic is going to take 3 or 4 visits but seriously I’m almost there after just the one time. Kathi really is amazing and I’m SO HAPPY I happened to find this woman!

You’re gonna love Kathi – I have been going to her for over ten years and she does an amazing job. I happened to move out of the area for awhile and had someone else do my hair. BIG MISTAKE. It was dark, dank and the cut sucked. Lucky for me I came back to Encino and Kathi fixed everything. She fixed the color, the cut, the condition of my hair, she did it all. I just love being around her and she really makes you feel good about yourself. And she does the greatest blowout ever – she’s the best hairdresser I have ever been to (and I have been to plenty of hairdressers). I had a wonderful experience at my first appointment with Kathi! It was like she knew what I was going for before I detailed what I had in mind. We decided on a color and it turned out beautiful! She assured me if I began to feel like it was too light that she would be happy to followup the next day. A great reassurance, but unnecessary because I love the color. I had only come in for highlights, but she made some great cut recommendations and I went for it. I love my long length and haven’t done more than a trim in some time, but I had complete confidence in Kathi. She gave my hair beautiful movement that really compliments the color. Her enthusiasm is infectious and expertise is evident. I’m new to town and am feeling very lucky to have found a great stylist on my first try!

I’ve been going to Kathi now for six months and my hair color continues to be a shade that goes great with my skin tone. I love it! I never would have been able to articulate exactly what I wanted, but Kathi spends time talking it out with me and makes suggestions based on her vast experience. I made the mistake of dying my hair black about 5 years ago. Since then I have spent over a thousand dollars and seen half a dozen colorists to try and undo the black. My hair has probably been every color of orange possible after leaving other salons because the colorist just wasn’t honest with me about what they could do or they just had no idea what they were doing.

Kathi asked a lot of questions before even touching my hair and made sure she understood exactly what I was going for. She really did an amazing job. My hair now looks exactly how I have been wanting it to look for years.

I love my hair!!! Kathi is the most talented color specialist I’ve ever been to. I have naturally curly frizzy hair. I was looking for someone who could look at me and tell me what color would look best with my complexion. She not only chose the right color and highlights, she understood the do’s and dont’s of cutting frizzy curly hair. I’ve never had someone blow dry my hair as beautiful as Kathi did. In the past I usually went home with wet hair and dried my own hair. Not any more!!! My hair has never looked more amazing. This is the 1^st time one person has cut, colored and styled my hair to perfection!!!

I love what Kathi did with my hair! It had been so long since I’d gotten color done on my hair that I was a little nervous about having anyone do it. I showed her a picture of what I was going for and she nailed it. I will definitely be going back for future services!

Kathi is the definition of giving 110%. She gave me a beautiful cut and color on my fine, blonde hair, and actually took interest in wanting to make me pretty. THEN she emailed me a few days later to see if I was liking it. I told her I liked it but I couldn’t get it to look as good as when she styled it. So she had me come back in and she personally showed me how to blow dry my hair. I’ve never had a hairstylist care so much. She loves her job and she’s great at it. I finally have a hairstylist in LA!

Kathi is amazing! I had virgin hair and was really nervous about getting it colored for the first time. I wanted to do an Ombré but was very confused about what exactly it was I wanted. I called Kathi up and asked if we could do a consultation, she agreed without hesitation and I dropped in the next day. I truly appreciated her taking the time to speak with me before actually committing to anything especially with her busy schedule. I booked an appointment within 10 minutes of speaking with her, she made me feel so comfortable and excited about the entire process.
I was her last appointment of the day, so we took our time, talked and enjoyed each others conversation. Finally it was time to wash out the color, cut and style my hair. I absolutely loved the cut, its was exactly what I wanted. I went from a brunette to a blonde ombré so it was definitely gonna take time to get use too., but I liked it Kathi let me know before all of this, that if I woke up the next morning and didn’t like it, to come right back and she would fix it. Well I woke up the next morning and felt that it was way to light and needed toning. So I called Kathi right away and let her know I wanted to tone it down and make it more suttle. She let me know to come in that day at 2:00 and she knew exactly what to do. I went in, 20 minutes later she was washing me out and I could already tell I LOVE IT. She blew out a section and my feeling was right, it was just the color I wanted. I get compliments all the time on the color and the cut is perfect. Thanks Kathi, I will recommend you to anyone interested in a great cut and color!

Kathi is amazing with hair! She has been cutting, coloring, and now doing the brazilian blowout to my hair and I LOVE IT! She is great at listening to what I want, telling me her feedback and the result is amazing. Her color technique is top notch and her skill cannot be beat on applying it. You won’t have to search anymore after you go to Kathi for ANY of your hair needs. I have gone to her in Encino and Westlake Village and both locations are convenient, fun and comfortable. Hands down the best hair dresser around.

Kathi is fantastic– All the way around. She is great in scheduling you in & out, even in a last minute bind! She is also a total pro when it comes to color! My hair is noticeably healthier since she took over, and that’s because she uses good products and takes care in her processes. She is a rock star who definitely knows her stuff!
