When I took my newborn daughter to her fist pediatrician visit and was told that she had a heart mermer. We didn’t know much at all about heart mermers but the pediatrician scared the heck out of us. He keep saying it’s an emergency and we had to get to a cardiologist right away ! He told us it sounded like a very big mermer and she may need surgery right away. I couldn’t believe I was being told my 5 day old baby could need heart surgery! The Dr in the hospital didn’t say anything about a heart mermer. We went to see Dr. wong a few hours later. He was amazing! He took the time to explain exactly what the problem was. He started out by telling me that almost every baby has a heart mermer at first and it’s nothing that I did, it had nothing to do with the pregnancy. As a first time mom it was a huge relief to hear that. I had already been going over all the things I might have done wrong n my head.(Was it because I drank a small amount of caffeine) he also told us that some Olympic athletes have heart mermers. He really took the extra time and care to make my husband and I feel at ease. We have been back to see Dr. Wong many times keeping an eye on her mermer and every time I leave loving him even more. He doesn’t just come in the room start to examine her right away like our pediatrician dose. He takes time to let her get to know him first so she feels comfortable having him listen to her heart and feel her tummy. I can’t tell how much this means to me. My daughter is now 6 months old and we will be back to see him again and I wouldn’t want to take her to anyone else. If you need a pediatric cardiologist Dr. Wong is a God send

We feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Jeffrey Wong, MD, FACC. I cannot say enough good things about him. He is kind, patient, smart, warm, great with kids, unintimidating, knowledgeable about the latest research, spends time with you to explain what’s going on and most important… wears a Tweety Bird tie! You don’t have to wait very long, but while you’re waiting, there are kid-appropriate videos playing in the nice waiting room. During one visit to Dr. Wong, my then 4-year old son was reading a book on shellfish in the patient’s room. When Dr. Wong came into the room, my son asked about whether oysters had hearts. Dr. Wong explained in his wonderful way(that a child and mom who should have paid more attention in biology class can understand) the simple heart that an oyster has. Dr. Wong is also a parent and so he «gets» how important it is for parents to understand the risks that their children with coronary issues face. His office is well-run, with fast and efficiently run EKG machines and the wonderful Lynette who runs the ultrasound equipment. My son has been getting ultrasounds and EKGs every few months since he was four months, and he’s always cooperative partly because they know how to deal with kids here. During the 10+ minutes or so of ultra sounding, they turn off the lights and play videos from their large DVD collection. You wait a few minutes while Dr. Wong reviews the diagnostics, and then Dr. Wong interprets them for you, draws pictures, helps you understand what’s going on, what the prognosis is, what you should be doing to help your kid, and to not worry. :) Dr. Wong works out of two locations: Pediatrics Cardiology in Encino, CA: 5400 Balboa Blvd Ste 202, Encino,(818) 784‑6269 and Cedar Sinai Pediatric Services, 1−800−233−2771 Fantastic doctor!
