Hands To Hold

This place is horrible. My nails look awful and when I told the front desk that I didn’t like them, they sent over the same lady who did them. She then comes over saying «what do you want?» with a horrible disgusting attitude. Awful customer service and awful manicure pedicure. Should’ve been a $ 1 manicure. DO NOT GO HERE.

She did a great job! It’s a great price and is a nice clean area. I am definitely a repeat customer.

This is one of theeee Best nail Salons around. Ots clean beautiful comfortable and Serene. ALL the people are always so Happy. They have a great location good parking and easy access. They also do waxing facials. They are also doing EYELASH EXTENSIONS !! Debbie does them and shes great mine look sooo real as do hers and i fell asleep during application. IT WAS SOOO EASY AND RELAXING !! THE owners are always rigjt at hand so helpful and wanting to make sure everyone is happy and taken care of. They offer coffee tea and water to to all their guest .! If your looking foir a Great nail salon where they also offer eyelash extensions? facials, waxing this is your place. David Debbie and Kim are my go tops but there are many more to choose from ! Make this your place like i did !

I have two separate things to review:
1) Mani/​pedi — the ladies were sweet and were patient with me as I was indecisive about a color. Kim, the one who did my pedi, chose two colors that I am very happy with. The sweet lady who was working on my mani was wonderful as well! Thank you for your kindness. My nails look clean and cute :)
2) Eyebrows — I had last minute decided to get my eyebrows done, and they were able to accommodate me right away! If there is someone that you should trust your eyebrows with, it is Sudi. She is very honest, kind, and someone that knows her stuff. I am still in awe of my eyebrows, so thank you for talking me through everything. That wax made my eyebrows look much sharper and cleaner.
Though Hands to Hold is in Encino, I would drive out to come here again because of the lovely experience. This was great for a last-​minute decision to get my nails done. Thanks! See you again, Hands to Hold!

Soodie is awesome. Front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. All technicians are nice and do a great job! I’ll be a loyal customer for life. Best nail salon in los angeles.

I get light pink gels here all the time. Last time I went, the gel changed color after a couple days. The tips became brownish and it progressively got worse. I don’t think it’s because I touched something brown because it was on every single nail. Maybe the gel they used was old?

I started going to Hands to Hold Sherman Oaks in 2009 — always great service, nice clean establishment. Never had a bad experience there. After a move to Encino, I saw they had a second location which was now more convenient, so I decided to try it out. Again good, solid place — professional and clean. For years I made my appointments never choosing a specific technician until I met Michelle. I have been seeing her solely for both mani and pedi since 2012. I highly recommend. She’s sweet, funny and is a great technician. I was always a 2 or 3 color sort of girl, but she has gotten me out of my comfort zone. I’ve experimented with different shades and she even suggests alternate ones when she doesn’t think the one I picked will look the best for my skin tone. If she ever leaves, I’d follow her!

Hate to write this negative review as the staff and technician were pleasant and tried to be accommodating during both of my visits, however, 2 terrible gel manicures later… I’m a little frustrated. As a gel wearer for years I’m used to a week and a half to two weeks of good to decent looking nails. Some brands seem to hold up better than others but my first gel manicure here was Trashed within a few hours. Every nail bubbled, lifted and peeled off completely intact. Not to mention messy polish on cuticles. I called and was told to come in, free of charge for redo. So, good customer service but, even with different polish, the result was much the same. By the next day several nails were chipped, some lifting, and super sloppy job overall. Wish I could give it another shot but not worth risking the $ 55 (mani/​pedi). I’ll stick with my old salon and make the drive! Bummed…

Dropped by for a mani pedi on a Saturday afternoon. They were busy. Too busy to take me. They sent me away, which is practically unheard of. Usually they will say something like, pick a color and it will be a wait, but no. They didn’t want my business.
Surprising, since I’m not a fire breathing dragon with fungus fingers. Felt very unwelcome. It was also in the manner in they treated me. Never came back. Found greener mani pedi pastures elsewhere in the Valley.

I should first state that I’m in no way a loyal client to your establishment. This event was the first and only time I tried to use your business. The interaction was enough to make me not want to return.
The second point I should make was, you refer to my experience in a way like you were there, or are fully familiar with it, and like it was just last Saturday. I should state that it wasn’t just this last Saturday, but several months ago, I’ve only just gotten to posting the review now. So maybe you have this issue with other people trying to check out your service. Why don’t you address that as quickly as you do your negative Unilocal reviews. In any case, when I go somewhere I want to feel welcome — even if you are too busy, sending me off in a friendly manner wouldn’t kill your staff. Thanks.

I went here a couple days ago to get a manicure and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Not only were the receptionists very unwelcoming but when the manicurist began doing my nails, it seemed like she had attitude towards me from the start. As she was doing my nails, I asked her to paint the corner of my nails that she missed and she rolled her eyes at me and did it fast and messy. Then after she finished she sarcastically asked me if there was anything else wrong that she could fix. When I said yes and nicely asked her to clean the nail polish she got all around my nails, she got up and said «You’re so picky! Go ask someone else to do it.» I was shocked and furious and got up to go pay and get out of there. Not only was the service horrible, but the manicure was the worst manicure I’ve ever gotten. It looked like a 5 year old painted my nails and I will never go back there!

Came in here to do a quick gel polish change and a man named David walked by while I was doing my nails and told me ur nails r lifting and your nails are garbage I’m Never going back plain rudeness

I get anxiety when it comes to trying new nail salons. And I wasn’t expecting anything great after reading the reviews but I happened to be in the plaza and desperately needed a mani/​pedi.
Their prices are about the same as other salons in the area but the interior is outdated and doesn’t feel much like a nail salon. Feels more like a factory. They have about 30 stations in a space that isn’t all that big. But it is fairly clean.
Debbie did a really good job on my gel manicure and she was really sweet. I can’t remember the name of the lady that did my pedicure but I wasn’t too happy with the quality of her work. It started out great, she did a good job with the cutting and filing but after she painted my toes they looked pretty bad. Which is why I can’t give them the 5^th star. She was nice but I wouldn’t go back to her. Overall my experience was ok and I’ll probably come back thanks to Debbie.

I got a mani pedi that seemed okay at first, but once I left the parking lot, I noticed that the edges of my nails were not done completely. The gel peeled off within two weeks and my toe nails chipped and cracked under one week. Essentially unheard of.
It was awkward how it was set up, because they worked my hands and feet at the same time. I was juxtaposed so that my hands were perpindicular to my feet. Very uncomfortable. There was no dedicated pedicure station. They charged extra for callus removal. I don’t know if that is standard for the valley, but that is normally complementary in other parts.
The quality is nowhere near the price. The staff was friendly though!

I love this place now. Though I continued to go out of pure desperation, I now go out of sheer «want to go». I tell them who I like and who doesn’t do such a great job and they see to it that I am able to get appointments with the ladies and gentlemen there that do great work. LOVE the front desk staff. Totally help out if you’re dissatisfied.
Why only 4 stars? The prices are too steep for what you get. :(But I’m going back and I don’t care what I said before!

Three Words — NAIL FUNGUS INFECTION.
They scraped off a layer of the nail and shortly after the nails turned brittle, yellow and an nasty nail fungal infection developed. This means they are not properly cleaning their equipment and following proper hygiene practices.
You are at risk if you go here.

Recently being in this area, I’ve needed a nail place to clean up the scruff I am not inclined to do myself. Plus, what girl doesn’t enjoy a little pampering.
Upon entry, I’m noticing no one is here but me & an angry faced woman getting her nails done & with what appears to be a long overdue shoulder massage.
I’m asked to be seated near a window, but once I was settled in, David politely asked me to have a seat in an area with more light.
I came in for a mani/​pedi no polish.
David & Debbie took care of me in a flash! Digits soaked, scraped & clipped.
We chatted politely & I asked them about business, everything about their timing down to the tandem hand/​foot massage was excellent. They’re terrific & my ends look tip top clean.
Checking out… Not so exuberant. I just paid $ 30 for a 10 minute experience & that’s fine… But please tell your receptionist to have a better attitude. The last thing I need after a long week is some teenage girl with darty eyes to give me a snarky tone.
Have a nice weekend, I’m hoping to see better next time!

Got the gel manicure today. This place was recommended by a friend but the quality of the gel manicure was poor. It is pricier than most at $ 37 for a regular gel manicure (they do not use OPI gel polish). I have had better results at $ 25. It already looks like it grew out even after it was «fixed.» Don’t waste your money because pricier is not better.

Anna is great ! Love coming to this nail salon. It’s clean and has excellent service. It’s not like the other nail salons that the manicurists are all yelling and talking to each other from the other side of the room! Haha
