Yakitori, sashimi premium, eel hand roll, miso soup, yellowtail collar, and dessert: miso butterscotch cookie for a great sweet finale. Free underground parking. Our waitress was super sweet, loved her. Wish I knew her name to write her name here. Excellent staff with kind service. I would definitely come again.

Seriously terrible service. Had to ask for soy sauce dipping dish … Really ?!? Sushi restaurant brings you place setting can even bring a sauce dish. Took about 20 mins to get drinks. I can count on one hand how many customers are in the restaurant and it takes them this long to help us. Ordered appetizers first then sushi… The appetizers came as the last dish. Fantastic! Foods not even that good. Took us about 30 mins to finally find someone to get our check then another 20 to get someone to take it to charge us. Even had to get up and walk over to the bar to get them paid for this crapy service. Don’t bother coming here. I promise your not gunna miss a thing.

Very cute place. Good drinks. Food was decent and service was nice. A bit overpriced, you can get much better sushi in the valley for a fraction of the price although the ambiance is probably what you’re really paying for. Very fancy design, sexy bar and flames on the balcony which is what caught my eye as we were driving down Ventura to begin with.
It’s always hard to find a place with great food and good ambiance. Seems like it’s always one or the other.
I don’t think it’s worth it unless you go during happy hour. Or if u wanna feel sexy; P

I am always up for sushi but I won’t be patronizing this restaurant again. Weekend happy hour starts at 9pm. Drinks were 4.95 so I ordered two different drinks and was not even slightly impressed. Didn’t even taste like they contained alcohol. I ordered 2 cut rolls: tuna and yellowtail. Someone else ordered ramen and another couple ordered two rolls. Super simple. The restaurant was practically empty besides our group of 5
Another group of 10 came in right after us and ordered a ton of specialty dishes… they were served first and our group last. It took at least 30 minutes for our drinks to be served and It took an hour and half for my food to be served.

I arrived here middle of the week for dinner. As I arrived with a friend we where the only tablet at 8pm. After being seating couple minutes after are server came over. Here is major negative about being a Shabu Sbau fan this place is not set up for Shabu Shabu. After ordering the Shabu Shabu the bring a boiler that did not work in order to get meat warm enough.
The positive they had excellent cucumber salad and shrimp sushi roll. They do have a great bar. It takes a lot of me to write a negative review about this place. The server Fernando was the nicest person you can find.
I would love to see this place get proper Shabu Shabu tablets and get their food quality up to par I may come back.

Looking for a sushi place to eat but was unfortunately disappointed. I don’t like to give negative reviews but it didn’t live up to my expectation of when dining out.
I decided to come here upon review and that happy hour started at 9 and that it had promising reviews. It has a large and spacious area and dimly lit for a intimate date night. We ended up ordering from the happy hour menu. Most beers were 3.50−4.50 during HH which was about a 6 – 8 oz glass it seemed. Ordered 3 skewers for $ 7, potstickers, karaage chicken, and 2 sushi rolls (crunchy roll and scallop roll).
The best stuff was probably the skewers and the chicken which is unfortunate for a sushi place. The crunchy roll was decent but didn’t stand out as you could get a comparative roll at a ayce buffet. The scallop roll we couldn’t even finish, it would break apart upon picking it up, not sure if it was the rice or the type of roll that we ordered but it was a disappointment to say the least.
The bill came out to around 42 and some change and gave the hostess a 100 and when I received my change I only received 55 back? I’m no math expert but I was probably shorted a few bucks which isn’t a concern but the principle of giving patrons their correct change. Probably isn’t too much to ask I’d say? After a few minutes of the hostess trying to figure it out he asked do I even want the change I told him just keep it and left.
Not only was the food sub par but the service and the way the situation was handled was not professional.

Food was amazing, place is beautiful.
My only complaint is the booths are really uncomfortable. The seats are really mushy so you sink in and then the back of the booths is perfectly 90 degrees so it makes for an awkward eating position.
Very yummy. Get the sea bass skewer or any skewer.
The Spicy Tuna Pizza is delicious as an appetizer. But my favorite was the mushroom fries. Holy s**t. too good to be true.

Awesome joint with some great amenities. There is an iPad that you can take photos on and share to yourself in a sweet side room. The band played a top a balcony which made the music even more incredible. Alcohol bottles going around the bar not only on the table but hanging in the air as well made it quite incredible.
Definitely is a great place to hang out and take a group and there is a good amount of parking too.

I went here with Japanese friends. I knew that this restaurant has many shops in Japan as well. However, the food here is not Japanese food. Those were definitely American Japanese food. Also, the taste was just so so.
Worse, I was disappointed their service. They couldn’t take orders correctly. They need to train their waiters more, not just the greeting words, Irassyaimase.

Hubs and I came by on a Friday night for dinner. The happy hour from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am was a pleasant surprise! Ordered the tonkatsu ramen, three skewers of robata, a blue crab hand roll, and mochi balls with red beans. The hubs ordered two Bloody Mary drinks, a Palm Springs roll, yellowtail tuna roll, three skewers of robata, chicken Kara-​age, and I don’t even remember what else. All them dishes were delish! We checked in on Unilocal for the $ 5 off $ 25 deal. Our tab ended up being $ 63.11. Not bad! The service was also superb and or server was super efficient. We’d totally go back there for another round of happy hour. Love!

Came here, checked in got 20% off. Happy Hour pricing is Great. As General McArthur said, (or was it Schwarzenegger) We’ll be back.

Servers are slow and don’t seem happy to be there. Manager lady is not in tune on how to deal w customers.
We have been coming here for a very long time and probably won’t come back anymore sadly.

For the price, this place is great. It’s such a relief to go out for sushi on Ventura Blvd. and not get hammered with exorbitant prices.
A huge menu to choose your meal from all of the food we got was very good. My wife fighting a winter cold had the Raman Noodle soup. It hit the spot and was really tasty.
The Tempura combo was done very well. The beers on tap were ice cold and the pot stickers were big and delicious.
The service was friendly (but here it goes…) but sporadic. With menus in hand and ready to order, we couldn’t flag down a waiter if we had road flares. I almost stuck my foot out to trip a waiter but thought otherwise.
Once we got a waiter (20 minutes later) we were insistent that our dinner come to us in a certain order. Not usually important to us, my wife not feeling well this night she wanted her soup last! That request was completely ignored and the food came to us whenever it was ready and totally out of our sequence.
I will come back here. I will not sit in a booth! They are really too big, and hide you from the general population. If I was having an affair and wanted a covert dinner, their booths would be my first choice. If I was on the FBI’s most wanted list, I would hide in one of these booths and never get caught. But that not being the case (an affair or being wanted by the FBI), get a table.
I would request a table up front by the door. That seemed to be the center of activity in this place and was getting all of the attention.

La is a Mecca for sushi lovers so the competition is stiff. Unfortunately, I was not pleased with my Wagyu beef stock or Monrovia Roll. The service is fantastic however I think this place lost its luster with the lack of customers around 7pm on a Friday night. I would come back and try it a few more times to update my review.
The Monrovia Roll has tuna, yellowtail, salmon, with Shisho leaf inside sliced cucumber. Translation: one of the most unflavorful and lack of rolls Ive ever had. I ordered the baked scallop roll next.

How did I not know about this restaurant until about a week ago? I was walking along Ventura Boulevard and noticed the restaurant with a sign advertising ramen and shabu shabu. Shabu Shabu in Encino? I keep driving long distances to find a good alternative. So we headed over here the Sunday night of Thanksgiving weekend, not a big weekend for eating out, but still. We started with an appetizer of raw fish and avocado called Avocado & Negitoro Tartar. It was amazing with a fresh and refreshing taste. I could have eaten more, but then we moved on to a variety of yakitori skewers, including beef wrapped asparagus and mushrooms, sea bass, chicken, and mushrooms, all delicious. From there we went on to the shabu shabu, and yes, we were three people and ordered three full orders because, well, some things we just don’t share. I will admit this is the first time I’ve been moved to a bigger table in a restaurant because of how much food we ordered… Don’t judge the diner, judge the food! The beef was super fresh as were the vegetables. The shabu also came with udon noodles and rice. The ponzu sauce was good and came with the minced radish and green onions (I like extra minced garlic too, but no big deal and I didn’t ask), and the sesame sauce was so much better than average.
They also serve ramen, sushi and a variety of other dishes. The happy hour menu is enticing. The outdoor patio looks fun for warmer weather, and the décor inside is fun as well. Service was good (they weren’t busy, but look at our choice of days to come). Food was excellent. All in all, I can’t wait to go back. So much more to try. So much want to do a repeat of what I just ate as well. Mmmmmmm!

Yum! This place is pretty great! Loving the décor and outside lounges. Great place for a quiet dinner or get together.
Pro’s: very tasty food. Happy hour deals. Sushi is fresh. Very clean. Service is great. Plenty of parking in the structure.
Con’s: located on a busy street and in a busy shopping complex. You need to pay for parking. Food is a bit on the pricey side.

Gyoro-​Gyoro used to be one of my favorite sushi places in the valley and I loved their food, service, and atmosphere. The very last time that I visited here, neither food nor service was impressive. There were so many servers and chefs working there but the service was super slow; it took so long to get our food ready. The food also didn’t taste as good as it used to be and I couldn’t even finish my rolls because something didn’t taste right. I was very disappointed with the service and the food quality but the atmosphere is still nice and cozy.

Very impressed with this place, what a wonderful meal we had.
The service was great and the presentation on the sashimi was just beautiful.
The fish was extemely fresh and great quality.
The prices for the most part were not cheap but i felt they were pretty reasonable.
We had many different things and loved all but two things. The US kobe beef yakitori had wonderful flavor but was quite tough, so we would not order that again, and the green tea crème brûlée while very cheap at only 3.50, had a very strange flavor. I did however, enjoy that they prepared the crème brûlée at our table.
The miso black cod was absolutely delicious and probably my favorite dish of the meal.
Other things we ordered were the monrovia roll, the crispy albacore roll, tempura green beans, seaweed salad, and tuna sashimi. All or which were quite good.
There were many small touches that really made for a nice meal. All sauces were served on the side, which was wonderful because i got to choose of i wanted any and how much of each sauce i wanted to use. There was also a pitcher of iced water on the table, which is great for people like me who drink a lot of water and get tired of asking for refills.
I’m not a big sake fan but my father is and ordered a $ 22 bottle of dunmai daijingo that he thoroughly enjoyed and felt was reasonably priced for the quality.
One complaint though i do have is with the booths, where we sat. The seats in the booths are too low and too far away from the table, the fabric was also coming off a bit from the seats. they really need to be reupholstered and have some padding added into them. some throw pillows to put behind your back would be a simple but great addition as well. My dad has back problems so when he got up from the meal he couldnt even stand up straight. Next time we will definitely be sitting at a table.
One of the great yet subtle touches was the mouthwash in the bathroom. I have never seen that anywhere but it is a great thing to have!
Parking is such a breeze at this location which is great because sometimes it’s impossible to find parking along ventura blvd.
The Unilocal deal for 5 off every 25 helped a lot, and the waiter was even nice enough to give us an extra one even though we were slightly under 100 before tax.
Including the $ 20 discount, tax, and tip the total came out to about $ 95 for the two of us. Not a cheap meal, but not overpriced at all given the amount of food, quality, service, atmosphere, etc.
We will definitely be back, but probably will come more often for their happy hour as $ 45 a person is a bit of a splurge for a casual dinner.

Came here for a baby shower on the patio and got to try some of their apps. The Portabello mushroom fries seems to be a big hit among the group. Tuna rolls were great, but I really thought they did a nice job on the Spicy Tuna and Crispy rice. The bartender announce they have $ 1 oysters during HH so I ordered 6 to start and proceeded to order 3 dozens for myself and some friends! They’re some of the freshest, most terrific Pacific Oysters I ever have ate. Must go back for more…

Trust me. You’ll fall in love with Gyoro-​Gyoro.
You want to eat here. Not only once, but maybe twice in day as I did. Once for lunch during happy hour and again for dinner to taste some of their regular menu items.
It’s taken me a long time to try Gyoro-​Gyoro. When they first opened, I read some of the lukewarm reviews complaining about expensive drinks. It looks like a club or some sort of Americanized sushi restaurant.
My sister visited last night and absolutely loved it. She knows of the kind of influence Unilocal Elites have when they a review a restaurant. She told me to visit and save this restaurant from closing down.
I did some research today and discovered that this is not an Americanized, Americanized Japanese restaurant, but a Japanese owned chain restaurant with 160 restaurants in Tokyo.
If you know much about Japanese cuisine. They’re sticklers for flavor and quality. With 160 restaurants under their belt, I have no doubt on their mind that everything in the menu is great here.
For happy hour lunch, I ordered the sashimi plate, 2 oysters and a small tasting of their craft beer all on the tasting menu. I felt that the sashimi was of better quality and cannot be compared to the Kabukis or other Americanized chain sushi establishments. The sushi was clean tasting and not bad for the $ 13 price. The Pacific oysters were small served with some sort of sweet sauce on it.
I had the opportunity to visit again today, when I told my sister that I visited for lunch and loved it as well.
So we returned, I let her as usual run free and order whatever she wanted from the Yakitori menu. Considering the cold, rainy weather today, I ordered a small bowl of Tonkotsu ramen and an uni handroll.
Every yakitori menu item we ordered was excellent. Moist, juicy flavorful. Just perfect.
My nephew couldn’t get over the mouthwash they had in the restroom. He loved it so much that he wants to come back often and even for his birthday.
Parking is located in the street. Free in the evenings at the meters. Food served until 2 am with happy hour from 3 pm — 6:30 pm and on Saturday and Fridays, 10 pm to 2 am. You get coupons to $ 5 off your meal if you spend over $ 25.

It’s an excellent all around dining experience — the izakaya food, happy hour sashimi, the service and nice selection of indie music playing in the background that pleased even me, a finicky music listener.
I’ve tried many izakaya such as Musha (both in West LA and Torrance), LIttle Izakaya by Katsuya, Honda Ya, Furaibo, but this one is my favorite in LA.
This is authentic Tokyo pub food and a destination restaurant.
