Floyd’s 99 Barbershop

I’ve been going to Cheri for years now, and highly recommend seeing her (just don’t make it harder for me to see her as a result)! I first went there because I lived in the neighborhood. I’m picky and have tricky hair to cut and so I’m always nervous To see someone new. Cheri was so thorough on my first cut, making sure she understood exactly how my hair behaves, and communicating with me to make sure it was exactly how I wanted it. It came out great. Needless to say, I returned. When I did, she remembered me immediately and without skipping a beat, she again cut my hair perfectly — and so quickly. It has been exactly the same every visit since. Quick, friendly, and perfect. I’ve since moved out of the neighborhood, but make a point of taking the trip to see her. Cheri is the only one I let cut my hair.

I have been going to Floyds for years. My barber moved out of state and I started flipping out until I met the new manager Jessica. I find it amazing the way she treats me and makes my experience there more then just another haircut. I have recommended her to my father and several friends. I highly RECOMMEND Jessica for your next beard trim or haircut. I have never received more compliments regarding the way she trims and the look and softness of my beard.

I live in LA for 3 years from the first time I came to get a haircut I continue to come there again and again, they are the best! I recommend to go to Cheri she is taking care of me all the time all ready 3 years, Wonderful person!

We come here all the time. The staff is friendly, service is great, and the haircuts good and at a reasonable price.

A new client as of 3 months ago and have been exclusively seeing Cheri S. who has done a fantastic job on my hair. My wife of 20 years had told me that I am not permitted to get my hair cut anywhere besides Floyd’s and Cheri. She has great attention to detail and I have never had ‘haircut regrets’ in the days or weeks after the cut. I have a visit to Cheri scheduled monthly in my calendar for the next 5 years. Ive been going to Cherri since George left. she has been doing an awesome job on my hair; she even showed me how to get my hairstyle to last longer, if you are new to the area or looking for someone to give you a great cut… Cherri is your go too!

Mike M hooked it up with one of the best cuts I’ve gotten in a while, right before EDC! incredibly high recommendations for mike, the guy is a wizard with clippers and scissors! Great conversationalist, great haircut, couldn’t ask for more… ask for Mike.

Got the best fade of my life by Michael M. I’ve been going shop to shop in the valley looking for a proper skin fade and beard line up when I stumbled upon Floyds. I got Michael and he hooked me up with the best cut of my life. I’ll never go to anyone else.

Disappointing.
Even when I tried three times with different hairdressers, the result was horrible.
All that rock n’roll mood is a sham. They look pure techno to me. No offense.
The unprofessional attitude of the person at the counter is very off putting.
Suppercuts is way better. At least they don’t pretend to be what they are not.

Floyds has signs all over their shop that says Same Day Reservations. We called in for a reservation, and the person said Floyds doesn’t do reservations, only «Call Aheads». Duh… Somebody answering the phones needs some training

Awesome, cool place to get a haircut! I highly recommend getting a haircut with Marc if you are a guy trying to get a nice cut. He is honestly the best! I tell him exactly how I want to cut my hair and he gets it on point. He takes his time and make sure his artwork, aka «your hair», is perfect. If you are a talker, he’s a great person to have a conversation with. If you are not much of a talker, he respects that and lets you enjoy your haircut. Super cool guy and great at what he does! Thank you Marc for the years of haircuts!

CHERI Is the best! Great conversation and style! Apparently I need to add more for people to take my word. So here we go. The front desk girls are sweet, just don’t be late! There are others waiting as well.

I live in New York but got married in Los Angeles. I have a huge head and I don’t speak hair stylist, so I usually get a stupid haircut and have to explain to everyone that this isn’t my usual look.
So, I’m in LA. I need a haircut. For my wedding. In less than a week. Panic sets in.
They had decent reviews on Unilocal and I know what I’m getting myself into with floyds, so i took the plunge.
Came in an absolute wreck. I told them… wedding. please… don’t mess up. pictures. family. wedding. mine… eek.
they talked to me like I had ptsd. Good. I needed it.
I sat down and the lady who cut my hair went painfully slow. thank you!

Haircuts can be dramatic depending on the person. You forced to stare at yourself for 20 or 30 minutes at a mirror hoping the individual does you some kind of artistic vain justice. After my old hairstylist moved away. I searched Unilocal to find a new one. I passed several Floyds over the years and maybe the Karate Kid mural worked on my child of the 80’s mentality.
Yes, it’s a hip place façade wise. Cool music posters everywhere from Sex Pistols to Kiss in makeup. Well the new KISS not Ace and Peter, but that’s a whole other rant.
I came across a name with tons of positive reviews in Unilocal named Cheri. I couldn’t have been happier. She’s cool and knows her stuff. I have always been more then pleased. Never had a bad cut. I used to live close by, so it was perfect fit.
I later moved to Burbank and have tried a different stylist once due to the drive and made a huge mistake. I now gladly make the drive just to have her do my hair. I once came in after letting my hair grow out to maybe cut it all off and she actually told me that my hair looks great right now and I shouldn’t do anything to it. Who does that?!
She took the loss in $ that day from me because she thought it looked great as is. I laughed and appreciated her honesty. I took her advice and she ended up being right and kept me from doing something drastic.
I’m coming to Cheri until she retires. Highly recommend. Ps get the free shoulder massage at the end. I turned it down a few times in the beginning cause I didn’t want to work her harder then she had to. Then I found it it was this little machine she uses. Now it’s a must.

Thank you Alex! You’re the best! I highly recommend Alex if you want a rock’n cut & color. I’ve gone to her for my cuts the past 2 months. She’s amazing at cutting shot women’s hair (look for my picture I posted with the mint green hair for proof!). It’s been tough finding someone who can really cut short women’s hair who knows how to keep it feminine and sexy.
This most recent visit, we dyed my hair mint green. She did an amazing job and kept my ends safe from braking off (I’ve already put my hair through the ringer). She bleached my roots and hooked me up with Prevana’s Mint green.
I highly recommend her.
TIP: for color schedule 2 weeks in advance
For cuts: it’s usually a same day appointment. I usually call the shop in the AM & have never had a problem getting it.

Another terrible Faux-​hawk at Floyd’s barbershop!
They must think that a Faux-​hawk is just another spiky cut that you simply style into shape with hair products. They round off the top without leaving a full bodied center, and without a lot of symmetry, then they texture the hair a bit and off you go!
With exception to one or two good stylists (chary being one). The rest seem very inexperienced.
If you want good music and punk-​rock décor, Floyds is your place. If you want a decent haircut, go pretty much anywhere else!
Ps.
This is the second such haircut I’ve gotten at this location in the last two months. If I wasn’t short on time, I would wait for Chary, or simply go somewhere else next time.

I was part of a wedding party and received a shave from Karina on September 6^th, 2015. Before starting, I let her know that I have sensitive skin around my jawline and chin so she would be careful. After finishing the shave, she let me know that there was some irritation. Upon looking in the mirror, I saw that the entire area I previously pointed out (plus my neck) was bleeding and covered in dark red bumps (see pictures after cleaning up the blood).
For the rest of the day while taking wedding photos, during the wedding ceremony, and into the evening, I had to blot my face with a cold, wet towel to remove the blood which continued to drip from my face. It has been over 48 hours since my shave from Karina and my face is still extremely sore and sensitive and I am now starting to see ingrown hairs all over my cheeks and chin.
Please look at my pictures in this review so you can avoid a terrible experience. I would never recommend any barber services from Karina given her incompetence and inexperience. I have never had this much irritation in my 15 years of shaving and I am concerned that I will have permanent scarring to my face.
