Keep looking. Although, I love his hygienists. My first surgery he had a young female Dentist watch him work and the surgery was great. The second surgery they put me to sleep before confirming the work to be done and half way home I realized he only did one quadrant of work when he was supposed to do two. That meant another visit and another $ 1,000 for IV sedation, another missed day of work, and another day of getting a ride to and from the Dentist. My Mom was helping me out and so I had to change her flight home. He wouldn’t speak to me about this mistake only the office manager would. The office manager said she was sorry and didn’t know what else I wanted from her. I was in for a cleaning a few weeks ago and everything had been confirmed that day so not sure what happened.

I had surgery with Dr penhaskashi and I am very pleased with him and his staff He is very kind and thorough I am a dental phobic and chose to have iv sedation which worked out great. Pauline, his nurse was very kind I would highly recommend going to DrPenhashaski

I have been going to Dr. Penhaskashi for many years and have been very pleased with his periodontal work. He has improved my condition immensely, he and his staff are truly amazing !

The plan was an extraction of a bad tooth and implantation of a new one. The extraction was quick and painless, even days after having an empty socket. 9 months later had the implant installed (sore after the post was installed) and one year later this thing is great. No more tooth pain and minimal pain involved in the entire procedure. Great Job Dr. P!

I was compelled to write a review for Dr. Penhaskashi and his staff because I was one of those people who literally had a phobia of going to the dentist or anything that had to do with teeth. I was so fearful that I developed periodontal disease. First, Mary is just fabulous at cleaning teeth, whether it is a «regular» cleaning or a «deep» cleaning. She is amazing. Unfortunately, because of the fact that I stayed away too long, I required dental surgery. Dr. Penhaskashi saw the fear in my eyes and when I told him I had a fear, he said that I had an apprehension, which put a smile on my face. Dr. Penhaskashi not only is highly skilled and technical in his ability, but he has a tender and kind spirit to make me feel at ease. Following my surgery, Dr. Penhaskashi and his staff made me feel good and welcome and in good hands. They were all so friendly and wonderful. I just had my follow up from surgery and my mouth is completely healthy again. I no longer have a phobia, or even an apprehension, of going to the dentist or getting my teeth cleaned. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Penhaskashi and his staff for any of your dental needs.

I am a retired general dentist (two years ago) who paracticed for over forty years in the San Fernando Valley. During the last ten years I referred all of my patients in need of periodontal therapy to Dr, Penhaskashi. I am pleased to say that each referred patient was greatly impressed and extremely satisfied with the professional services that they received under Dr. Penhaskashi’s care.
Recently, I personally required the services of Dr. Penhaskashi to evaluate how to treat a fractured root of a molar tooth. After a thorough examination we mutually agreed that the tooth should be extracted. This role reversal of the doctor/​patient relationship was very revealing to me, and I am pleased to say that at all times throughout the procedure I was quite comfortable, relaxed, and confident of Dr. Penhaskashi’s expertise. His skill is beautifully complemented by his exceptional staff, and the minimal post operative discomfort that I experienced was completely alleviated by the perscription that I had received.
The thorough, caring, and professional treatment that was rendered to me gave me the personal assurance that I had chosen the right periodontist for the referral of my patients when I was in practice.

I recently had some deep cleaning done by the hygienist and couldn’t be more pleased with the sensitivity, the respect and the professionalism I was treated with. I thought I had a cavity but my dentist told me that my gums were receding and that I needed a gum graft. Upon his recommendation, I went to see Dr Penhaskashi and I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness and thoroughness of his approach. He did the procedure and it was no big deal. My gum looks great and better yet, the pain I had when I brushed is gone. Dr. P. and his staff were all very nice to me.

Dr. P has been referred to for my implant surgery by my dentist and I have been very happy about it. I have recently completed one implant which has been going terrific! I am working on the second one with him even.
The office team is very helpful and friendly, making my dreaded dentist visits as pleasant as it can be!

I guess you could quote the Beatles here by saying Dr. Penhaskashi and his office staff can «take a sad song and make it better.»
I have been saddled with gum disease for many years so visits to both my dentist and a previous periodontist have been filled with bad news, even if I am just in for a cleaning. But when my previous periodontist stopped taking my insurance, I had to make a change. And I am so happy to have been referred here.
This doctor and his office staff certainly make gum procedure facts sound as pleasant and painless as they can. Every member of the staff has been polite and professional, albeit they certainly can be a bit colder when they discuss your out-​of-​pocket costs (geez, all this talk of how the new health care laws are more than 2,000 pages thick yet they couldn’t find room for one sentence about dental care). Seriously, they are very easy to work with when it comes to switching appointments and/​or discussing care. The ladies up front don’t come across like some office staffs I’ve encountered that have made me feel like a peasant trying to get a meeting with the king.
Dr. Penhaskashi is very nice and expresses genuine concern for me. He has taken great care in the work he’s had to do (laser surgery as well as good old fashioned drilling) and has been like clockwork with his follow-​up calls. So far, I have had work done on my entire mouth and not suffered any type of strange complication. My current belief is Dr. Penhaskashi certainly knows what he is doing.
I see a previous review that makes it sound like he is a car salesman looking to push you for unnecessary services. I didn’t feel that way at all, especially in light of being told years ago of upcoming problems and my regular dentist agreeing with Dr Penhaskashi’s prognosis for my rapidly-​receding gums.
I highly recommend him. But, be sure you are ready for sticker shock, as well as having a sizable credit card limit, when you learn the costs, with or without dental insurance!

Dr. Penhaskashi, a periodontist, did a masterful job in performinjg osseous surgery which is deep, surgical cleaning around the gum area. First, he eased my mind by explaining what to expect before the procedure began so I knew what to expect. Knowing that patients, like myself, are ill at ease with dental procedures, especially when it involves oral surgury, he asked me for my favorite music which he played from his prerecorded selection. After the procedure was complete, he reviewed all the necessary steps I needed to know. Bottom line, his warmth, including his assistant, made the experience easy to go through. I would highly recommend anyone seeking a periodonist, whether in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles) or Santa Ana (where I was treated) to use Dr. Penhaskashi (aka Dr. P).

I have been a patient for more than a decade and Dr. Penhaskashi is absolutely the best periodontist or oral surgeon you could find. His level of training and education along with his fantastic skills and chair side manner are first rate. Like the good doctor, his staff are all highly professional and courteous.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Penhaskashi for over 10 years. I came to him with a tooth in really bad trouble which he helped save for many years. Nevertheless it was inevitable that I would need the tooth removed and replaced with an implant at some point. When that time came, Dr. P did an excellent job! I have had the implant for years and have had NO trouble with it at all. Through my years with him, I have also noticed that he always keeps up with the latest, greatest new trends in dental technology, which I think is very important in this day and age. Additionally I think he has the best dental hygienists in the business. I have never had better teeth cleaning anywhere. I truly can’t recommend him and his staff enough.

Dr. P did a gum graft for me in late 2013. I was a little nervous, but everything went well. He’s very professional, and his staff are first rate.

I’m updating this to report that Dr. P called me on Saturday to see how I was doing. My mother didn’t even do that! Thanks, Doc.

Finally a periodontist with a magic touch. Dr. Alfred Penhaskashi is a fine gum surgeon. He is extremely caring and precise in what he does. His office and work place is immaculately clean. I was also impressed by his follow up call.

I just can’t write a good review about this practice. I went in for a consultation with the full x-​rays from my regular dentist. They must’ve thought here’s some rich lady with gum issues, lets take her for a ride. I was given a 4-​step «package» with a whopping price-​tag. I felt like I was in there to buy a car, there was such a hard-​sell going on. Basically I was told that my whole being was going to fall to pieces if I didn’t start this process immediately, but first write us a big fat check. I almost had a feeling that Dr. P was desperate of money, like had a big mortgage payment or something that had to be met, that’s how hard the sell was. I had a second referral so I made an appointment with that doctor. Well guess what? Dr. P’s office would not send them the X-​rays! I called twice and they said they were sending them but they wound up sending them back to my dentist. All this stalling and sending to the wrong place delayed my appointment to the next periodontist by almost a month. I called Dr. P’s office and they pretty much said they owed me nothing if I was going to a different periodontist.
End of story — I found an EXCELLENT periodontist, Dr. Michael Imberman, who, ironically, was Dr. P’s instructor in dental school! Dr. Imberman has taken a wait-​and– see attitude, doing each procedure and then re-​evaluating so I don’t have any unnecessary procedures like Dr. P had listed for me. So much better! The lesson here is: If it feels wrong, iIT IS WRONG and don’t be afraid to SAY NO to a strong sales pitch, even if its a doctor!

This blows. Before I went to Dr P I looked at Unilocal and there was NO reviews. I figured maybe he’s new on Unilocal and haven’t had any reviews. Now 2 months post op and I see this 2 reviews, one was written way before my surgery. WTF? Had I known about this I would not have gone to this doctor! — This doctor has heavy hands, left me swollen for days.
Update: I’ve had my tooth extracted before, and i was never swollen. Now its been almost 1 year post-​op and one of the tooth he did a procedure on didn’t take in. it was a fail per another Perio doctor I went to. I will have to repeat the procedure in the future. Never going to this Doctor again.
