Walk Out Feeling Better

Walk out feeling WORSE!
I bought a Livingsocial deal for this place, and when I tried to schedule, it would be MONTHS before they could actually see me. Well beyond the expiry date of the voucher. Oh well, it was still a good deal for the massage so I kept the appointment anyway. Then, when I actually showed up for my massage on the appointment date, they had double booked me with somebody else. The guy at the counter was nice enough, but he had to deal with the owner on the phone and I could tell she was being very difficult. After standing there for several minutes listening to guy and his boss going back and forth about this, he eventually hung up, told me that he would make it right, and would call me soon to schedule my massage. That was almost 3 weeks ago now, and I haven’t heard anything from anyone. Today I decided to just call Livingsocial and get a refund. I would never consider going here for a massage, and I recommend you think twice too.

Not a good experience at all. You can hear people walking above you during a suppose to be relaxing massage. The massage therapist constantly does a hold position to run out the clock. Rude people who work and go in there. I would not recommend.

Walk out feeling worse would be a more appropriate name. There are so many wonderful massage businesses in Encinitas, don’t waste your time here! Rude and righteous. Very strange that this person went into the business of healing. It’s no wonder the discount coupons keep popping up. I’d be surprised if she delivered even half of the massages that were pre paid. There won’t be many repeat customers, that’s for sure! I predict they’ll be out of business by the end of the year.

My daughter bought a groupon before doing due diligence, which is rare for her. After the fact, she checked Unilocal reviews, which weren’t inspiring, but she was willing to check it out for herself.
We looked at the website, and were really appalled at the stated tipping policy (20% might be customary, but not $ 20. That’s just not true. It’s also not very pleasant to have such an emphasis placed on TIPS. Subtlety is more effective).
Unfortunately, when her appointment came my daughter had a cold and noticed that they could refuse service for sickness. She tried to call to ask for advice before coming in, but no one answered. She then suggested that I go in her place rather than simply losing the value of the groupon. I went, hoping that we could work something out (most policies are malleable if a customer asks directly, especially in service industries, and especially given the rather strict guidelines – I couldn’t believe how much they wouldn’t do!).

The two other ladies working there wouldn’t look at me when I tried to greet them. I don’t mind the encinitas funk– but it does need to be accompanied by efforts to accommodate and simple courtesy.
To say no to everything (except that my dd would have been allowed to buy another groupon – to repay, in other words), is not an inducement to come again. It’s too bad – we would like to support a small local business. But saying «no, you’re sick; no one can take your place; you’re too late; you can pay for another massage and come in three weeks» seems harsh.
There was really no way to get a «yes» from this business.

10 days later: still unable to reach this place to schedule an appointment.

Great massage, plus acupuncture is right on hand too!
