How many crappy sports bars have to open and close in this spot before someone tries a different concept other than another crappy sports bar with bad food, bad beer, and bad service? This iteration lasted about four or five months.

I’d been going here since I turned 21; as the stadium I had a blast, the bartenders were extremely nice and remember a face, great beers on tap for great prices. as 33 N. it was way classy but I fear came across as too formal but still had great service and prices, by far my favorite watering hole. im really upset that it’s closed now. I wish i could find an invester and take over the place myself cuz I swear it could go off but im only 23 and I doubt anyone would care to help

This place had a groupon out a few weeks ago and I bought it. Received an email from groupon today that they’ve gone out of business. FYI until Unilocal changes the status of this restaurant to «closed».

This place is closed. Makes me sad because concept was good but delivery was bad. I saw the writing on the wall when they only had well vodka and they ran out of iced tea and the majority of their tap beers. Maybe finally someone will come in and make this location work.

This place will be out of business soon. They dont get it. We were not welcomed when we went in, we ordered burgers and after 35 mins we were told they didnt have any ground beef. Total fail…

Yikes, I think this place is out of business and the last one to find out is the landlord. The sign says craft beers and fine wines, of which they have neither. Could be they have been cut off by every wholesaler for not paying their billss. It’s dark, dingy, no atmosphere with a TV in your face at every turn. If not for the friends and family there would be no guests. Needs a major injection of fun!

Like the other Unilocalers, I agree that this place seems to be in some sort of yucky beer/food limbo, almost like they’re just about to go out of business. Bought a groupon for cheap, so the bf and I thought we’d try it out. Ordered the pita and hummus with goat cheese, and while the pita was warm and hummus was good, the cheese was most certainly not goat. Don’t try to pass off cream cheese as goat cheese bro, it’s insulting. Bf got the burger(dry and overcooked) and I got the 33 flatbread. Tasted like frozen pizza fresh out of the oven. We figured their signature dishes would at least have some extra effort put into them. Not the case. Lady next to us ordered the pita, 10 mins later the server comes back and says they’re out of pita bread. I joked and said that we took the last one, so she can blame us, and she looked at me, covered her mouth with her hand so the server couldn’t see, and said, «this place runs out of everything!» To put a cherry on top, they have about 20 taps that are unused. As a beer lover and connoisseur, this was tragedy. The beers they did have were pacifico, Coors light, blue moon, and Stone IPA. If it weren’t for the stone we would have turned around and walked out immediately. Kinda wish we had. The 2 stars are for the service. While lackluster, the bartender was very polite and helpful. I asked why so many taps and so few beers, and he said, «I don’t know, I only work here once a week.» Womp wooooomp.

We tried it for the first time. Waitress was friendly but the food was terrible. The chewiest calamari iv’e ever had, the bacon burger was dry and the bacon tasted like beef jerky. Very understaffed, this place could be cool

The place has a very odd smell. A mix between cigarette smoke and stale beer. They were out of iced tea, so we had some waters. Burgers are overcooked and not seasoned. They were out of curly fries and served crinkle cut to two in our party and shoestring fires to another. I can’t imagine why a restaurant would not make their own fries from potatoes as opposed to using frozen fries. I ordered a side Caesar. Caesars salad was made with field greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and what tasted like sweet corn bread croutons. I asked the server if this was their Caesar salad and he replied that it was. Service was good but the funk and poor food drag it down. Expect to see this place on Bar Rescue or Restaurant Impossible next year.

It feels like this place wants to go out of business. We went to watch March Madness and it was a mess! They were understaffed, they were out of almost all their draft beers, and the food was just plain awful. I should have taken pictures on how the food was presented. It was comical! While I was eating the food, my brain kept saying, «I can’t believe you are eating this slop!» It reminded me of a Restaurant Impossible episode where the viewer can’t believe that those are real restaurants. Well look no further, there is one in Encinitas! I too live down the street and wanted this place to work, but it’s so bad that I feel like I have to go back to every restaurant review that I have ever posted and give them all an EXTRASTAR!!! — UPDATE — which I DID!!! Seriously, 33 North, I want to thank you for showing me just how bad a restaurant can be from all aspects. you have really set a new bar. Please sell it to someone that wants to succeed so the locals can have a place to brag about!!!

So far super disappointed. Came in and a live band was playing so was excited and thought this would be a fun place. We have been sitting here for 10 min with no one coming to take drink orders. We had to go tell bar tender we needed service and hem still has not come to help. My boyfriend has now gone up a second time. How very sad. The place is not even busy, maybe 4 tables with people eating. Won’t be back

I read the other reviews so I went into this meal not expecting much. We sat outside near the large fire pit. I had purchased a Groupon and went on a Tuesday because the website indicated drink specials for Tuesday nights. I was disappointed to find out there were no drink specials. So instead we ordered off the beer menu. Half the beers were crossed out with black marker which was a little strange since they say they have 33 beers on tap. Oh well, I ordered a large wit. We ordered the dirty chips and 2 bacon burgers with side salads to be safe. The chips were delicious. The brisket was well sauced and a nice balance to the light chips. I was living the high life until we reached the middle and they were ice cold. Whomp Whomp. The side salads had a good variety of veggies and the lettuce wasn’t wilted. So they have that going for them. Then our burgers came out. Bacon was soggy but they were cooked to perfect medium. The pretzel bun was fresh and condiments on the side. It was a good burger. All around I wouldn’t go racing back but it wasn’t a terrible experience.

Wow… this place is AWFUL. It has gone way downhill since it was the Bullpen. Low-lights from my dinner there last night: –Two employees in the entire place, only 15 customers there. We didn’t see a server for 10 – 15 minutes or more between«visits» to our table, and more than once we had to get up and go find them. –Terrible food. TERRIBLE. My friend ordered the calamari; there were SEVENPIECES on the place when it came out. It looked pathetic. I had the fish and chips; it was four little fish mcnuggets and potato chips. REALLY?! –Upside: I was drinking the Oskar Blues Old Chub, which was supposed to be a 10-oz. pour. They were giving me pints, which is awesome. Good mistake. :) Also, we were both still hungry after our pathetic dinner, so we ordered the Dirty Chips(brisket nachos on those potato chips they serve with everything). They were quite good. This place doesn’t know what they want to be when they grow up: wine bar, sports bar, craft beer pub… their confusion seriously hurts the quality of their menu and service.

you can take the sports bar off the sign but it’s still a sports bar. the food was subpar Pizza was frozen :/ potato bites were mashed potatoes deep fried with a side of blue cheese dressing that had no blue cheese in it? the bartender actually said that the house wine wasn’t too terrible… and I like it. I think it was his poor attempt to get me to buy more expensive wine. the calamari was served with an aioli that had no garlic or mustard. while I was there they were interviewing for a waitress position and a pretty young blonde woman left her interview one of the other owners said hey man its too bad your not single to the interviewer. I just don’t think I could go back

The same as before but different. Although not completely finished, yet currently open for business, «33 North» is essentially the same layout as it’s predesessor«Stadium Bar & Grill» but has better open floor space and menu items and now serves more craft beers. While the banner outside says, «wine and craft beer» it still handles a full bar and 3 pool tables. With it’s long fire pit out back, and table top TV’s, also a features of it’s previous sports bar era, you can still enjoy all the comforts of that place on the corner we loved before it’s change. 33 North is basically that same place but better. They are working on getting a Cabaret license,(that means live music) in case you don’t know, we hope to see and hear more local talent in my favorite nearest to home«bar», restaraunt”, «sports bar» or whatever you wish to refer to it as. I will just call it, «that place I go when I want to have fun». I look forward to many nights shooting pool, slammin back beers and/or shots and avoiding those mind numbing reality shows my girl insists on watching. Oh yeah, you’ll be seeing me here much more often.

Nick and the crew do a great job. Good new menu and excellent service. The dirty chips are to live for and the Veronica Rose drink my girlfriend loves. Cole went out of his way to by fresh rose hip hibiscus from the farmers market.

Great remodel and focus on SD County craft beers. A little more emphasis on the menu(beer haus w/no brats??) and plating. The whole wings(drums and wings) need work-messy! Will take a bit of time but think they can pull it off if the menu/atmosphere blends

For sports viewing with good food I give this a 5 in Encinitas /North County. Sort of place I’ve been wanting in the area for years. Just as many sports viewing choices as the new bigger bar down the street, but with a surprising diverse menu and no corporate restaurant nonsense. Easy to get to and lots of parking — no hassles like the coast. Food quality was excellent for the price. I had the short ribs. Hard to say I ever had better. Friends had burgers and hog wings and destroyed them.
Some good beers on tap and others in bottle — with more tap handles coming I heard. Better than downtown Encinitas for watching your game and I also heard music may be coming. If so this would be so good for the Village Park /Olivenhain /La Costa Canyon neighborhoods. Fire pit looked great through the windows from the bar too.

Close to home, decent selection of craft beers. Had the bacon cheddar burger with sweet potato fries and I was positively surprised of the quality. Ambiance reminded me of a small town sport bar. They should remove the tv from the raised tables; but some of the customers are listening to them. Loved the outside fire on the table.

Well, this place has changed ownership more times than the Padres have changed their starting lineup over the past few years. Years ago, it was Indigo Joe’s and that place sucked horribly. Then it was the Bullpen which was an improvement, but still too much like a Denny’s with flat screen televisions. Then, along comes Stadium Sports Bar & Grill. These guys seemed to have the best run of all, but I think with Buffalo Wild Wings opening up down the street, they felt the need to carve out a unique niche. Plus, Stadium’s food was honestly somewhat mediocre and the service was spotty at best. So, along comes ‘Thirty Three North’ and this one might actually work. It’s like a sports bar with craft cocktails, wine, local microbrews and gourmet food made with organic ingredients. Even some glutten-free options. The soft-opening featured some of their new menu items and again, the upscale sports bar menu motif seems to be carried through with items like«IPA Beer Battered Asparagus,» «Ahi Sliders» and several gourmet pizzas. The ambiance is an upgrade but still not amazing like the old Mission Valley Seau’s that had the high ceilings and giant televisions to make watching games there a truly unique event. Still, they’ve finally spent some money to improve the interior to go with their new menu and style. Overall, this place fills a nice niche in the North County Coastal area. It’s a great place for anyone who likes the sports bar experience, but wants food that is slightly better than the usual bar fare at reasonable prices. They are also going to host live music but I’m not sure whether or not they’ve actually gotten the permits to do this yet. That would be another interesting new angle for New Encinitas though especially with several venues opting out of live music in Downtown Encinitas and Leucadia. Their biggest drawback is being tucked away in the corner of a strip mall next to a 99-Cent Store. However, this does also mean there is plenty of easy parking just about any time. Overall, I like their chances and think the owners have finally found a way to combine sports and decent food in a fun way. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something a little different in North County.
