Description

Specialties

We strengthen the body while increasing range of motion, and elasticity, through using the structure of simplified and modified traditional hatha-yoga poses, but with a vastly increased intensity of effort.

Post-rehabilitation patients come to us from local private practices for body-weight strength training progressions that brings their tendons and ligaments along with their muscular growth.

We also teach techniques for developing patients with discomforts in training, creating deeper fortitude and mental toughness through breath work while exercising, and through meditation classes.

History

Established in 2011.

Neal is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified Personal Trainer and has been teaching yoga for the past ten years. After studying South Asian religions and cultures for his B.A. in Liberal Studies, he moved to live and work in yoga and meditation retreat centers for five-and-a-half years in England, Scotland, and Spain.

Neal has spent nine months studying in South Asia over three separate trips from 1999 – 2005, where he was exposed to Buddhist and Hindu mental and physical training in Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, and on the Tibetan Plateau. He has selected from what he learned in Asia and while working in Europe for the specific needs of the people he trains in America, and he makes sure that any flexibility training is integrated into a complete exercise prescription program that improves strength, power, cardiovascular conditioning and mental toughness.

Business Owner

When Neal isn’t working out or working with clients, then you can find him open water swimming, free running, or playing his acoustic bass guitar (usually out of tune). Neal works as a Physical Therapy Aide, is on the Advisory Board for MiraCosta College’s Kinesiology Department; and gives yoga instruction to Physical Therapy students at The University of St. Augustine. His favorite pastimes include reading ancient Pali and Sanskrit texts, reflecting on Platonic solids, enjoying nature, and spending time with his wife and son.
