Rodeway Inn Encinitas North

We arrived late on a Friday. All we asked for was a quiet room on the second floor, so we could sleep in.
We were placed above a room where construction began the next morning. AT 8AM. ON A SATURDAY. Drilling, sawing, the whole thing. And this is a thin-​walled place.
The 10AM phone call from the front desk was not, as expected, to apologize and offer to move us. It was to remind us that checkout was at 11. I pointed out that, given the nightmare below, it’d help if we could have a late checkout.
The response? «You can stay until 11:30 but after that we’re going to charge your card for another night.»
Rudest, worst hotel experience I’ve had.
Oh, and PS: bugs. And I’m going to leave it at that.

Let me first start of by saying this hotel is nice for a short period of time. 1 to three days and it is well worth it. The rooms are clean and beds are decent. However if you need to do laundry during your stay this not the place. They charge in quarters with no change machine no ATM near by and no other way to accommodate their guests. Not only that but it is $ 2.00to wash and $ 2.00 to dry your clothes so if you have more than one load you could end up spending a lot of money just on laundry. To add to that they only have 2 washers and 2 dryers to contend with the entire facility. It seems asinine that one would have to go through so many issues just for laundry. Would not recommend for long term stays.

I stayed here last night with my family and the location was great. I was in the area for the boardroom show and all the hotels in del mar were booked. The room was clean and had a working mini fridge and microwave. The staff was nice. They have done some remodeling in the past and I could see they were trying to still make improvement to the place. My only suggestion is they purchase lids to put on the coffee cups for the free morning coffee they offer (:

I booked thru Expedia and it said i had until 5÷12÷16 to cancel without a charge. Well it turns out that there will be no charge with Expedia the Rodeway Inn still charges a penalty for the night. Which I guess i can live with. But when i called the front desk to ask since they are charging me for the night can i just stay there the night anyway and she said «if you check in for the night we are charging both nights, and if you cancel we will charge you for the first night but can’t stay the night either» i think that is pretty dumb. If your already charging me for the night then just let me stay there.

Great value for the money. On short notice I had to find an inexpensive room for a few nights and feared I would get gouged. Not so. The front desk clerk was friendly and professional, the price was very reasonable given that this is a tourist area near the beach, the room was much cleaner than expected and had many updates (new light fixtures, ceiling fan, granite-​style countertops in bathroom). I feel that I lucked out for the price I paid (around $ 65 mid-​week). Even the Motel 6 down the road was charging more. All in all a very good experience.

the worst hotel ever, first room was dirty wanted my money back after they refused to give money back they offered to give me another room second room was nastier it had blood stain in it and even had bed bugs, left immediately called next day requesting money back keep refusing to give money back finally week later gave me some back but still fighting for my money back — first hotel and that was my worst experience ever.

Worst experience ever! Been trying to check out all morning and no one was in the office. In addition I bought another night at the hotel online but they are still making me check out of the hotel and check back into the hotel in a different room. I won’t be getting back until much later at night and there was no one here last night so I asked if someone would be here to check me in. She told me better off to just cancel my reservation. Horrible customer service and the rooms are disgusting and outdated but it’s cheap.

With my credit card going through when I made the reservation. This place sucks and instead of holding the room till 8 o’clock like my email said I had to check in, they decided to give our room away. I guess when they want to make money they give away your room when the expiration date on your card was imputed incorrectly. I will never stay at a Rodeway Inn or have anything good to say about this experience! Headed to the Holiday Inn Cardiff by the Sea for a real hotel with way better service and etiquette.

I booked my hotel here and literally hours later, my plans changed. I understand policies, but when I called to discuss the cancellation, the girl on the phone was extremely rude. I asked to speak to a manager in which the reply was there won’t be one for weeks. I then asked her who she would talk to if she had an issue and she said, well the manager is just going to tell you the same thing I am. I didn’t ask you what the manager was going to tell me, I asked to speak to one. You better hope no one you know dies after booking a room here because apparently there’s absolutely nothing they can do to help accommodate in any way.

Never in my life I would have expected a motel to be so this pleasant.

This is great motel, reasonably priced in a great location. I have stayed here several times and each time it is clean and well kept. This month we paid only $ 70 per night! The motel is walking distance to Leucadia beach. Fish 101 is a great restaurant right next door. There is also a fabulous liquor store 2 doors down that carries every craft beer imaginable. And Leucadia donuts is a short walk selling the best donuts I’ve had in awhile. The motel is simple but each room has a refrigerator and small microwave. Highly recommended for a fun beach getaway.

We stayed at this hotel this weekend. The location was good. It was near the beach which was awesome, and also close to local restaurants/​cafes. The room was clean, and spacious. The train across the st didnt bother us. The staff was friendly too. We had an issue with our key card not working, and right away they sent a nice maintenance guy to take a look. They only thing I didn’t like was the slow wifi, and my remote ch browsing buttons didn’t work, very minor issues no biggie. Would we stay here again. Yes. Do I recommend it, yes I do.

If I could leave a negative star I would! I have never received worse service from any company in my life! First of all we have two service dogs and they tried to refuse us a room until I told them that was completely illegal. Then the next day after checking out we get a $ 25 fee charged on our card for «smoking in the room» which we definitely never did! We have been trying to reach a manager to get this worked out but apparently they don’t have a set schedule and the employees couldn’t tell me when they are ever in the office. We have both called and left messages for the manager and still have not received a call back. Today I called again and spoke with a Michelle and she basically told me if I haven’t t received a call yet from the manager, he most likely isn’t refunding us the money. Will never return!

at a decent price for two nights. We’re staying here because my husband is going ski diving on Sunday in Oceanside. I didn’t know much of the place so I decided to look at reviews and to be honest reading all of the reviews made me want a refund. All the reviews were saying the building was going through construction, how loud it is, it’s a bad place etc. any who the construction is done so that’s a plus. When we (my husband, two little monsters and my self) got here the place looks good it doesn’t look run down and scary. i haven’t seen any homeless crazies standing outside. Lots of families and couples are staying here. The room was clean and remodeled. Don’t expect the Hilton or anything special it’s a standard hotel room. The Ac works just fine, flat screen tv, fridge and microwave inside the unit. The only thing that was funny/​cool to me was that there was a ceiling fan in the room (It definitely helps). And no I didn’t find any hairs in my bed sheets. Yes there is train across the road but it didn’t bother us at all. If you’re looking for things to do there is a west field mall down the free way that has an awesome comic store, Robertos mexican food down the street (tacos are
), Leucadia donut shop for breakfasts (5am-12:30pm), and of course the beach. So don’t be afraid it’s a nice place. And if youdon’t want to hear the railroad try and get a room in 205 – 210.

We had a great experience here. Decent prices, great location, friendly staff, and spacious room with fridge and microwave. They have coffee in the mornings and will make it at night if you ask. The hotel is along many restaurants and shops within walking distant and close to many different beaches. South ponto beach was our favorite since it was less crowded. We had a great stay here and would definitely consider returning.

Excellent hotel! 10 mins from the beach. You have so many options on great bars and restaurants just within walking distance. The friendliness, the cleanliness, and atmosphere of this hotel will always bring me back. Thank you!

This hotel sucked. First the room was next to the maid service which seemed like every time they shut their door our door sounded like someone pounding on it all hours of the night. There was no smoking at all in the room and we still got charged for it. And there was a maid all over the top floor were we stayed but I still had to walk down to the front desk to get clean towels which was really strange. Parking sucked you have to walk a mile just to get to your room. Done never going back I’d rather sleep in my car.

I really want to give one star. I called ahead, to make sure they had a «WORKING Spa Tub !!! Told the reception desk that I usually would not stay at Rodeway — though we always stay at other «choice» hotels in the same chain. She assured me the Suites with Spa tub were «very nice» so I booked here .
Took FOREVER TO FILL THE TUB, then the jets DID NOT Work!!! So hateful! When we called to see what’s to be done, they told us nothing to be done,
They did give us a partial refund eventually, but overall I feel like I got tricked into staying at this dumpy hotel. Ruined what I had tried hard to plan —a nice «date nite».
I guess if you just need a cheap bed it wasn’t so bad — not what I carefully shopped for though

Beware of fake reviews!! Horrible service, pathetic staff, total crackhead guests and staff, plus they charged me and wouldn’t refund it!?! But I paid in advance on priceline. I asked for a late check out at 8am they let me know wasn’t happening. So I tried to sleep after I hung up and they kept waking me up saying «are you checking out!!» What? I just asked for a late check out 30 minutes ago?! 2 more times before 11 am they called and laughed and hung up. One time a Mexican lady said «oh sorry wrong room» WTF! Please stay away. UNSAFE, HOLES all over the covers, Horrible staff, other guests seem like they are on drugs.
