Micki is a hidden gem in Encinitas! She works alone in her funky little storefront on 101, using her genius to give the best cut to my thick, wavy, curly hair that I have ever had. I went to the best salons in NYC and never found a stylist who understands and loves my hair the way Micki does. NOBODY cuts hair like Micki! She has a real gift and a procedure that is hers alone.
I admired the way my friend’s hair was growing into a beautiful, wavy mane around her face. It set off her features so well and looked so healthy, light, and natural. This was about a year ago, and that’s when I first went to Micki. I have bounced from stylist to stylist and had just about given up, since they all cut against my hair’s natural wave and curl, and a cut that looked OK in the chair looked butchered after two weeks.
The cool thing about Micki is that she pays no attention to current trends and images out in the media. She gives your head of hair the cut IT wants. If you’re OK with that and relax and trust her, you will be wonderfully taken care of. If you want to look like some celebrity, she may tell you, «No, I’m sorry. Your hair doesn’t want to do that!» Yes, it may seem she cares more about your hair than about your ego!
But the irony is, you go with her cut, and your ego will FINALLY have the boost it’s always wanted! She really brings out beauty and femininity (or handsomeness and masculinity, as she does cut men’s hair, too). It’s not about edgy, trendy, chopped, harsh, or unnatural cuts. It’s about looking wonderful.
Micki is mature, a natural beauty, a native of Encinitas – a beachy, breezy, sweet, conversational lady with a great smile and big blues eyes that discern a lot of what’s wrong in a mistreated head of hair. She should be in Beverly Hills (she used to be in La Jolla, but got sick of the pressure) and has the training to do it if she wanted to. Thank goodness she doesn’t want to!
I just go on and on because I have never spent anything like a year with one stylist, and my dearest hope is that she’ll never leave! Especially you men and women out there with curly, wavy hair – do yourself a favor!

Micki has been doing my hair for 23 years and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! I’m so picky about my hair and she is so patient with me always. She is also very up with what’s new, when I go in not sure what to do with my cut she always has great ideas.
Micki is also all about wash in wear! I typically have stick straight hair and always wanted curly but Micki has shown me through the years that I have my own natural curl I just needed to learn how to bring it out and wear it. What I love about Mickis is that not only is her shop very beachy and trendy and she is so friendly and cares about my life each time I go in, but she is super knowledgeable about hair and the science that is behind getting and restoring your hair back to healthy and teaching you the healthy way to use what you got and absolutely love it! My hair has never grown faster and been shinier and healthier thanks to Micki.

MIcki was the one I trusted to give me a hair make-​over. My hair was down past my waist; she cut it to just past shoulder length and layered it. I have gotten tons of complements on my hair. It really is a genuine wash and wear style – I don’t blow it dry or do much of anything to style it. Micki gave me exactly what I was looking for: a flattering haircut that requires a minimum of effort.

Found Micki’s Salon driving down 101 in Encinitas while living in Del Mar. Guess I was considered a «walk in».
That was about 6 months ago and I have relocated to North Orange County. Now I drive over 1 hour every 4 weeks to have her style my hair. I’m in my mid 50’s and many people have cut my hair over the years but Micki is the best!!! Nuff said.

Curly hair expert! Micki has the best price, for the best quality hair cut, with the best products. I am picky as to who cuts my hair since it is curly. But she always does the job right! Cleans it right up and puts keratin in your hair so it feels soooo smooth afterwards. Thank you!
