I am so disappointed with the way this doctor treats his patients that I can simply say: there is a variety of other professionals to switch to. They will at least greet you with a smile or won’t send you home without a valid advice. Dr. Mercer doesn’t even look at you when he is talking. His receptionist sent us home today without any help. Unacceptable! Looking for another doctor!

I am the type of patient that pays its medical insurance bills monthly and goes to doctors annually for check ups. Was assigned this provider by healthnet insurance. Used him 2 times. Provider never even looked up at me. He came into a room read from the chart spoke to it and left. Second time around the doctor knew nothing about me other than what he read in a chart. thank god i am healthy. Granted these were routine visits. I came in this morning with a once in 3 years medical problem not just a check up. staff is all business like, I was turned away because of some administrative issues with insurance. she(the enforcer) was not at all concerned with why was I there. she was not interested in resolving anything like asking me to talk to insurance, she had only one response«you can see the doctor now if you pay out of pocket. or leave and deal with your insurance and then come back» not even a question«how do you feel can we do something for you and then we can deal with your insurance»? Great job medicine!

Not having seen a doctor for many years, I was apprehensive to try a new one. Dr. Mercer was awesome. He is a down to earth guy that chose to actually talk to me about my concerns and map out a game plan, rather than rush me through and get to his next patient. I would recommend him and his staff to anyone that’s looking for a great PCP experience.

Dr. Mercer has been my PCP for over 20 years. He is very caring & takes the time to listen to me. I have never felt rushed. He also has a good sense of humor. Over the years I’ve had a few health issues that required a specialist. Dr. Mercer has always referred me to the best ones & I’m thankful for that.

Used to have him for a PCP. Did not last long. Large staff turnover. Dr. had a horrible bedside manner. If you have to wait for results, you’ll be waiting a very long time for the answers. And when you talk to Dr. Mercer about the length of time it takes, he will get mad and blame it on his large amount of patients he has to see. I have to ask, how is that his patient’s fault?!

I recently hit a milestone age and wanted to make sure that this well oiled machine was running properly. I went to go see Dr. Mercer for a physically examination. The office is located right behind the Scripps Encinitas Hospital. The staff is very friendly here at this office. No issues scheduling appointments, they get you in and out. Dr. Mercer is very easy to talk to. If you have any concerns, all you have to do is bring it to his attention and he will do his best to help you out. We made a few jokes here and there then he proceeded with the physical. For guys, you have to drop your pants for the doctor to check your sack. Not usually my favorite part of the physical but hey, gotta get it done. After that he mentioned to me that there would be no prostate exam till I’m 40.(That was a sigh of relief that’s for sure!) Physical was done in about 30 mins. All went well and I was scheduled for my next visit. I would recommend him to everyone. Whether it be for physicals, getting yo balls checked, or to just have a cool Primary Care Physician, go to Dr. Mercer!
