This was my first time at the Encinitas location. We went on a Friday I believe and was surprised to see how busy it was! T for kids, plus tv’s at the bar, huge Tv in the middle of the restaurant. We got a seat at the sushi bar right away, which was lucky. The O’Side local rocks. The food was so good, so I thought we’d try this one. The rolls are put together well and the combos are endless. The sushi is fantastic too. The hamachi melted in my mouth. They were out of Uni which was the only disappointment. Next time. I love that they include pictures for most of the rolls to help give you an idea of what you are getting. Limited sake list., Hot and cold. Friendly chefs, great service. The prices are also fantastic. We were shocked when we got the bill, including two bottles of sake and all our food was less than 50 $/60.

Food here is so good here. Portions are generous as well. My go to is the vegetable tempura and the chicken katsu. Would come back!

Great place for a family! relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Only issue was the place was already packed at 6 and we had to wait for a table(and that was not bc of a HH before — that just speaks to how good it is I guess) Reasonable priced rolls(like $ 3.50 for a tuna roll) and kids meals($ 5 – 6). chicken katsu was great agedashi tofu was really good and HUGE! veggie yakisoba was good and fresh tasting Some really interesting specialty rolls I need to try next time.

Handrolls here are my FAVORITE! Proportionately wrapped with ingredients Y U M ! Service is polite, quick and is helpful with the menu. Alisha is a sweety! Brown rice option is a $ 1 extra and too heavy for my taste. Lots of choice, we’ve returned!

Really nice interior design. Plenty of awesome specialty rolls to choose from. Pretty good service but our specific server didn’t come to check on us much to see if we needed more water so hence the 4 stars. Overall a good experience and reasonably priced sushi which is always nice when you buy 4 – 5 rolls for a couple.

What a neat spot! Not only does everyone(and I mean even the chefs from behind the working station) greet you, but they definitely cater to your every needs. Our waitress was very nice and helped us choose the right dishes. I ordered the shrimp tempura udon and my boyfriend got the katsu chicken. The broth and the mushrooms mixed into the soup were so delicious. I couldn’t get enough of it! I loved how they served the shrimp tempura on the side, too. I hate when it gets all mushy in the soup! The udon noodles were cooked perfectly, too. My boyfriend loved the chicken, but said there was just a bit too much rice. For the price, and free edamame with a check-in on Unilocal,I’ll be coming here again that’s for sure! Side note: my boyfriend was really cold and it wasn’t really hot out that day; maybe turn down the AC a bit? Just a thought!

Come here for lunch! Good service. Food comes out fast. Many specials to choose from including two sushi rolls for only $ 11.99! My husband and I just shared this with some edamame. We were happy and content at the end of our meal. At under $ 20 for two to dine in at lunch, this place is a steal. Highly recommend.

This was my first time going to this place, but wow I must say delicious food. And great family atmosphere. The host are nice and quick to your needs. There’s also a variety of choices of sushi to choose from. I think they told me over 80. If you haven’t been to this spot it’s a must. The prices are really good, as well as a good happy hour special. Well recommended. I will definitely go there again with my girlfriend

OMS!!! Oh my sushi! This place is one of my new favorites! We’re thinking that 2 hours isn’t too far to drive! You must come and try the Hooked on Sushi Roll Citrus explosion over delicate fish! Morimotos would be proud!

I am totally disappointed! I went for a to go lunch and I choose a combo that the price was not so cheep(around $ 13), so I was expecting something at least normal, but when I opened the box was 3 pieces so small of salmon that the 3 together would be a very little piece, and was looking like the left over of something, so baaad!!! I didn’t eat well and I was still hungry at the end. I called to talk to the manager and she didn’t care.

We had such a great time at Hooked On Sushi. They have great food, with a lot of specialty rolls, great service and a great atmosphere. The server knew a lot about Sushi and really helped us making our order, she was very knowledgeable, helpful and honest. I highly reccomend this place if you want great Sushi and great service!

Long time fan of the Oceanside location, husband and I decided to try this one. We were not disappointed! Most amazing sashimi, and amazing atmosphere. I felt like that had my own soundtrack playing. I have never had a bad experience with these guys, highly recommended!!!

Home visiting the family and much to my delight, a new Japanese /sushi spot popped up in the neighborhood! To be honest, I can’t remember what was in this space prior. I was dining solo so opted for take-out. Called ahead and placed an order of a 2-item combo — teriyaki salmon and CA roll. The food was tasty, fresh, and ready and waiting for me. I was particulary pleased with the CA roll. So often I find you can’t really taste any of the ingredients, not the case this time. Salmon was a bit overcooked for my liking, but overall, a generous amount of tasty food for fair prices. Bonus points for free edamame with Unilocal check-in.

For life-alteringly good sushi I’ll keep going to Blue Fin, or Kaito if it’s in my budget, but this place is good for relatively inexpensive rolls. Service is great too. Both times I’ve eaten here I’ve noticed they don’t season their sushi rice like I’m used to. Not a problem for the rolls, which are generally a good deal and tasty, but it definitely had a negative impact on the nigiri. Oh, worth mentioning that last time we were here we ordered uni, which we were out of, but which showed up on our bill anyway. They fixed it for us quickly when we pointed it out.

Hooked on sushi had decent rolls, I got the shrimp tempura roll and black dragon roll which were okay. There wasn’t much taste to them, it seemed really bland. The only reason I gave four stars is because they have an amazing lunch combo that comes with two sushi rolls, miso soup and salad. The miso was really yummy too and hot. I’ll probably go back to try other rolls to see if they taste any different. Really good prices for the rolls as well. Customer service was on point even though it was a to go order.

«We go to Hooked on Sushi too much», we say as we drive there for the second night in a row. I feel like half of my paycheck goes to this establishment, which either says something about how much I get paid or how often we go, because their prices are really reasonable — less expensive than other sushi places that are much less delicious than HoS. We love this place and we’re happy that it’s always busy. The rolls are amazing, the service is great, and the prices are right.

Found this place via Unilocal and decided to give it a try for late lunch one day. Spacious, clean, modern interior, with wonderful customer service. The specialty sushi roll list is extensive and very well done. Great quality pictures in the menu of each roll, with clear as day descriptions. We picked the zigzag roll, honey roll, miso soups, and vegetable tempura. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted equally delicious. The only thing that felt like it was missing some flavor was the vegetable tempura, was a little bland on the tempura part. All this was only $ 30, which made the experience even happier! Can’t wait to come back and try more specialty rolls!

It is our first time here and we ordered the pink lady roll, and the Oceanside roll, the protein roll, and the hooked on sushi roll. The hooked on sushi roll is not on the menu and yet it is the specialty. Go figure. That one was my favorite, followed by the pink lady roll. They actually brought 2 pink ladies by mistake, and we put one lady in a box to go home with us. She is beautiful and will be lunch tomorrow. The staff are very friendly but the environment is a little chaotic which adds to the fun. Everybody seems to be having a good time. We will be back.

I ate here for the first time on Sat with my fiancé. We were up in Oceanside looking at the Humane Society when we decided to go home. Unfortunately there was a lot of traffic on I-5, so we thought that we would go eat somewhere and then head home. We ended up finding Hooked on Sushi and decided to give it a whirl. Needless to say, we love it here. When we arrived it was around 2:00PM on a Saturday and the restaurant was(surprisingly) pretty empty. We were seated right away and received our drinks right away. We ordered 2 – 3 rolls, baked mussels, and a seaweed salad. It didn’t take that long for our food to appear and boy was it delicious. All of the fish is fresh, the seaweed salad was well done, and the baked mussels were BOMB. We definitely want to come back here, if we’re ever in the area again. Definitely recommend!
