Harley A Feinstein

The TL;DR is that bankruptcy is a scary word. Harley holds your hand and makes it not so scary. The longer version is worth the read if you’re considering hiring him as your attorney.
At the start of this year, my fiancé decided it was time to take action and file. Bankruptcy was completely foreign to us both, but we’re so thankful we trusted the other Unilocalers and called him. Harley was incredibly professional yet warm and easy to talk to from the get-​go. He never once made my fiancé feel stupid or ashamed which immediately put him at ease. I’ve never met Harley myself but I certainly want to take this opportunity to publicly thank him for helping us both. His attention to detail goes unmatched. He set expectations from the start of the process down to the court date itself even going so far as to outline where to park downtown, how much money to bring for the meters, what time to leave the house, etc. If that’s not going above and beyond, I don’t know what is. It was almost fatherly (in the least creepy-​sounding way possible). My incredibly stressed out other half was relieved to find that the court proceedings went exactly as expected… right down to some of the questions he was asked. He said that in a room full of people being summoned for their BK cases one number at a time, he was the most prepared of all of them. Some other attorneys didn’t even show up with their clients!
His rates are standard (expect to pay about $ 2300 total), he’s local to us North County folks, he’s personable, he’s knowledgeable beyond measure… the list goes on. And if you’re still not convinced, just know that we had to reach out to him this past Sunday after trying to rent a new place and running into credit issues due to the bankruptcy not yet being discharged (as it takes about 60 days). Not only did he reply to our email (on a Sunday! What other attorney do you know would do that?), he typed up a letter first thing Monday to make sure we could sign a lease for our new apartment.
Seriously. Go see Harley Feinstein. Even his name is cool. :)

Since bankruptcy fees are regulated by the Federal Courts, and all attorneys charge around the same price, the most important factor in hiring an attorney is finding one that you connect with, are comfortable with, and one that «knows his stuff!»
Nowadays creditors are so aggressive in their collection efforts that they will continue to call you during your bankruptcy filing, and sometimes after you receive your discharge; the US Trustee, and in some cases the Case Trustee’s, can make a big fuss over your bankruptcy filing so it’s extremely important to have an attorney that can help navigate you through this process and give you the best advice available.
Mr. Feinstein has over 30 years of experience in bankruptcy and experience is a something you cannot learn, it’s something you earn over time.

Great experience! Although we chose to hold off on a bankruptcy for now, Harley was super helpful and honest and spent a lot of time informing us about our options during our free consultation. Last June I was living life from paycheck to paycheck, and my credit cards were almost maxed out from making the payments and using the credit cards till I got paid again.
I have a son who was going to be a Junior in High School and I wanted to be able to help him in college in 1 ½ years. I am a mom doing this alone, he wants to go to a 2 year college, and I want to be able to help him out a bit.
I used the credit cards for braces, medical expenses, gas, and food.
When I figured out what I was paying in interest and after 3 years of paying on the credit cards I knew I was never going to get out of this mess.

She contacted an attorney in San Diego, and was not very happy with them. I told her about Harley and she went with him and finished before I did. Even after the case was filed a situation came up and Harley contacted her to help her with information she needed for that situation.
Both of my friends were very happy with Harley.
I also found out that Harley does other attorney work besides Bankruptcy cases. You can depend on Harley for any advice.
By the way my case was finalized yesterday, and I have been able to live credit card free since last Aug. 2011.

My husband and I, feeling the crunch like most people in this economy, found ourselves in a bit of a financial pickle after our once lucrative business took a nosedive. No longer making anywhere near the income we once did, we were forced to look at Bankruptcy as a possible option. Now, let’s be honest, for folks that work hard on paying bills on time and have prided themselves on keeping a good credit rating, having to finally admit to yourselves that a Bankruptcy may be the only way to dig out of a sinking hole is a pretty hard thing on your pride! I found Harley Feinstein through very positive reviews and decided to give him a call. I had heard horror stories of people that had filed with some of the cattle call Bankruptcy firms and after they gave their money found out that they never qualified in the first place and never got their money back. That’s why it was VERY important to me that I give ALL information and that I find a good, honest attorney to take our case. Even before meeting with us, Harley had me do a «means test» to help determine if we qualified in the first place. We set up a meeting after to discuss all of the particulars. He was very honest, very organized, and was GREAT with communication. I was ALWAYS able to reach him for questions and if he wasn’t immediately available, he always called me back quickly. We went through every possible scenario to ensure that we could be confident that there would be no issues and he always spelled everything out so that we always knew EXACTLY what to expect.
On the day that we went for our hearing, I was pretty intimidated and nervous. Harley arrived early to wait with us. In the meantime, there were many people in the waiting area that were meeting their attorneys for the first time (many of them even having the SAME 1 attorney to represent ALL of them!) that went through bankruptcy firms. After hearing some of their discussions, it was clear that they weren’t as prepared as they should have been, sometimes resulting in continuances. It’s definitely at a time like that when you just want everything OVER with, that you are so thankful for having an attorney with experience personally representing you that was so organized and ready for any questions or issues the trustees might bring up.
Here is the point that I want to make sure anyone reading this understands… The only reason people go to Bankruptcy Firms is because they think it’s less expensive than going to an attorney directly. Harley’s attorney fee was EXACTLY the same as the Bankruptcy Firm charges but with PERSONALIZED service. Knowing THAT why would ANYONE honestly opt to go any other way?
Although I’m sad that we ended up having to go through a bankruptcy, I’m relieved that we had such a great attorney to help us through the whole process to make things a little easier on us.
