Absolute worst tailor ever! For starters, he is way overpriced (which wouldn’t be an issue if he was good at his job). He ruined two pairs of $ 300 pants. When I asked him what went wrong, he denied that they were completely and utterly messed up. Neither fit me, and so I was not only out of the $ 150 he charged, but in total my loss rounded to be about $ 800. Do yourself a favor and avoid this mean old man at all costs! To top it off, he was perverted and made a pass at my wife. Disgusting man and experience.

Hands down the WORST!
Not only does he massively overcharge, but he refuses to fix his mistakes and won’t even acknowledge he has made one.
I went here to have a suit altered. I needed the pants hemmed, jacket sleeves shortened and collar lowered. He charged over $ 200 for what any reputable shop would charge $ 50 – 60.
When I picked up the suit, the seams on the shoulders were terribly rippled. When I pointed it out, he got defiant and said it was fine. When I persisted, he got visibly irritated and said it would straighten itself out after dry cleaning. I didn’t want to argue so I decided just to let it go.
If you value your clothes or money at all, avoid this gut like the plague!

We’ve been coming to Mr. Granata since my sons bought their first suits to start cotillion back in fifth grade. Not only were the alterations perfect and invisible every time he touched a garment but he really helped us make those suits last as long as possible with continual growth spurts.
Our younger son is off to college this fall and he’s running up to Encinitas to make sure Mr. Granata does his new suit before he leaves, so the least I could do was write a review.
Located in The Lumberyard, he is open only for a short week, from Weds-​Saturday, but he is well worth waiting to see.

Joseph is fantastic and does top notch work. I have taken suits and sportcoats to him for some complicated alterations and he made them fit perfectly.
I’ve trusted him to work on my suits and coats from Ermenegildo Zegna, Kiton, Isaia, Armani, and Hickey Freeman, and Martin Greenfield. You don’t take suits like that to just anyone, he is a true craftsman.
