The people are nice and they have all kinds of used boards, new boards, clothes, watches and more… I do like this place. The wetsuit prices are a bit high

Very honest and knowledgable! I came in with a question regarding repairing a fiberglass part to my son’s race car and they pointed me in the right direction, which did not involve a sale for them! Next time I am in the market for a surfboard or beach apparel, Encinitas Surfboards will be the first place I go.

Bought a pair of high end ski boots from Hansons a couple of years ago and they never worked out. too large, too stiff etc.
Called them last week to see if they could refit them. they said they’d give it a shot and come in anytime.
I mentioned this to Christian, one of the owners and he asks to measure my foot. turned out I needed a size smaller as my foot was floating around inside the shell which is fricking dangerous… he says wait here a minute, and he walks out with a brand new pair of boots in the correct size. He heats them up to custom form them to my feet and then says «no charge»…best fitting boots ive ever had… I’m just blown away at how he made things right and the new boots retailed for $ 450…it’s a rare thing these days when a retailer stands behind their products and on a10 point scale, I give Hansons a 20. heading to Squaw on Wednesday and can’t wait to try them out.

This local shop is a SoCal daddy of local surfshops with The highest level of customer service ever. They treat my 14 yr. daughter with respect. They treat me as well with respect, appreciation for our business and educate us what board/​gear is suitable for her. Recently, I did an online order for some hoodies and they shipped priority the next day with personal phonecall from Matt to make sure everything was correct. Yes, i live boderline csbd san marcos but if i can avoid encinitas blvd to get there just for hoodies, i’ll do it. Thanks guys. and thanks for the free Encinitas Surfboards stickers in the package. cool touch.

As usual, you walk in the door and get helpful service which goes far when you have absolutely no idea what you’re looking for. Bravo to this local shop. Never disappoints.

Best surf shop there is. The staff is helpful and honest. They don’t try to sell you the priciest option they have. You can even bring a surf board there that needs repairs and they will take care of you. Legit surf shop with a great vibe.

This is the local favorite. Locals will eat up every t-​shirt, sweat shirt, and surf rack this company turns out. As far as branding goes, they have captured a good chunk of the local surf clothing market. If you have a kid in school I recommend getting some t-​shirts and clothes from here.
When it comes to in store board room selection, they lighter than other local alternatives but always worth checking out.

This place and Hansons stood out to me as THE surf shops in Encinitas. I prefer this one because it doesn’t sell any trendy boutique items like Hanson’s does.
This is someplace that you would see in a 80’s surf movie. Authentic and the staff is easy going and funny.
Purchased a large size boogie board (didn’t know they made those) and shirt hoodie hat combo. To be honest the clothing items were way overpriced for the quality but you pay for the logo. Having just moved into the area I really wanted something to wear that represents my new home «Encinitas Surfboards» says it all.
Will definitely go back if I need any surf related items.

Had a great experience shopping for a board and ultimately got set up with the perfect board that I can grow into. Been surfing almost everyday since and am super stoked with the purchase. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Got a great deal and even cleaned and perfectly waxed my board for me. Will definitely do business with them again

So I thought I’d stop in to redeem my Unilocal BOGO on their Encinitas logo shirts. I got my free shirt but was also surprised at the selection of wet suits and other surf apparel they carried. The gentlemen helping was also very friendly and he suggested I keep both shirts for myself instead of giving one to a friend. :-) stop in say hello and buy some surf gear.

Friendly and knowledgeable customer care! While not a huge store, it is jammed with gear for surfers. I had never been in the store, but needed to pick up some wax and was on the 101 so decided to stop in. So glad I did!
First, when I ran into the store someone behind the counter (who was waiting on someone else) greeted me! I was so surprised, my first thought was ‘are you talking to me?’ Never been greeted at any surf shop. Next, I started looking at the wax when someone else (Clarissa?) asked me if I had any questions or needed help. Wow, now this is customer care I said to myself. As someone newer to surfing, I had lots of questions about removing wax, which comb is best and why, types of wetsuits for spring/​early summer, etc. Long story short, I learned a lot and bought more stuff than I had planned.
I will stop back in to try on some shorties! I had an awesome experience at Encinitas Surfboards and would highly recommend checking out this local surf shop!

Just like the old days, you can still find the owner and founder working there. Knowledgable staff, options, cool shades and the logo hasn’t changed since the late 70’s. Just an iconic place to go buy a surfboard, or some surf wear.

Great customer service. Being from Texas, I had to take home a pair of «authentic» surfer swimtrunks. Got’em & will now wear my Billabongs proudly. Good selection of T’s as well.

This is the best Surf Shop of them all. Great hats, shirts, and surfboards. Service is always friendly and you can tell that the employees really like working there.
Nice selection of kids clothes, shorts, and swim trunks. Plenty of parking– and it’s conveniently located on the 101.

I was driving down to San Diego when I decided I would exit the 5 freeway at Encinitas Blvd and backtrack to a Starbucks that I had just passed. I am a firm believer that some of your best adventures occur during the journey not planned. As I was attempting to backtrack I was stoked when I came across Encinitas Surfboards. I am firm believer that local surf shops are a dying breed and we surfers need to do our part to ensure they keep their doors open for the future generations of surfers to come.
If you are looking for this surf shop it is only a short distance from the 5 freeway right off of Encinitas Blvd @ N. Coast Highway 101. There is a parking lot directly in front of Encinitas Surfboards. If that parking is full there is an adjacent lot which has plenty of spaces.
As I walked in the door I was stoked to find an ‘Old School’ surf shop where all of the workers working were talking about the swell that morning. Everyone had smiles on their faces that only surfers know. The surf shop itself was stocked with everything a surfer might need. You could walk in these doors and pick up all sorts of clothing, surfboards, skateboards, hats, stickers, wax, skating helmets, backpacks and so much more.
I figured since I was here I would ‘check-​in’ via Unilocal on my Iphone and I am glad I did. Upon checking in I was awarded with a Unilocal reward of ‘buy one’ get one ‘free’ for t-​shirts. This was one heck of an offer because the t-​shirts were not marked up. The t-​shirts were $ 20 and with just a simple ‘check-​in’ I was able to purchased two t-​shirts for the price of one. I confirmed this with the cashier who confirmed that the offer was still valid. The cashier even told me that not many people fail to capitalize on that offer and even suggested they are missing out by not using ‘Yelp’ I have to agree=)
I selected a couple of shirts and tried them on the change rooms this shop has in the back. I dug the inside of the change booths, the walls were covered in old school surfing posters from surfing spots local to the area from back in the 1960’s.
Before I left I walked around and checked out the boards and everything else this shop had to offer the surfing community. I am so stoked that I came across this spot and without question I will be back. I am working on a little art project and was stoked to see the huge collection of surfing stickers this shop had. This shop had a booklet filled with surfing stickers and I truly came across some gems. No matter what surfing shop you visit you should always buy a sticker. Stickers to surfing shops are decribed in one word ‘profit, profit, profit’ and independent surf shops need those profits to keep their doors open.
Remember as a surfer you are an ambassador of the Oceans and the those who call the Ocean /​Beach home depend upon you to be their voice, so remember, Be the Good, always!!! Next time you go to the beach remember as s surfer you always have one free arm when carrying your surfboard. So to and from the water pickup any and all garbage you see.

My annual surf pilgrimage resulted in yet another vision of heaven in a surf shop and I came out with more than I came in with. And that’s great news for any surf shop trying to compete with the likes of mega-​stores such as Surf Ride just down the street. Keeping it local and personal is a trait that I hope continues to support the mom & pop surf industries and keep the «corporate commandos» at bay. Encinitas, Iron Cross and Mitch’s are at the forefront of providing local surfers with everything they need to enjoy the waves without that sense of Wal-​Mart shopping that some of us hate. And though they are quite friendly, don’t expect elderly greeters at the entrance or shopping carts in the aisle. Just local talent with wave-​savvy insight into what will get you out there with the big boys (and girls).

I’ve been coming here for a while, and today I had it. The employees need to understand, your attitude is NOT cool. I was interrupted 4 times while trying to ask a simple question about Solarez. The employee was chatting it up with another local about surfing, which would normally be OK, but he barely acknowledged my existence. OK, you got my $ 16 for solar-​rez, but I know a much better place to shop for boards.
It’s a shame, I honestly tried to use/​like this place, but I can’t take the vibe anymore. And I’m a local surfer.
There ARE other cool employees there, and I don’t want to misrepresent them, but I’ll give my money to another shop that will treat me respectfully, not like an annoying customer.
Surf for happiness, for soul, for self.

Encinitas Surfboards was once one of the more core surf shops in the county. It used to be you could go in there and talk story with one of the owners, including North County shaping staple John Kies.
Unfortunately, the core score has suffered in recent years. I bought a used board for $ 200+ there and I asked for the customary free bar of wax that surf shops have given with most decent purchases since Duke Kahanamoku’s time and I got a talking-​to by the younger-​than-​me clerk. He tsk-​tsked me, then added, «If we gave away wax to everyone, we’d be out of business». Thanks for the econ lesson, bub!
A few months later I had some time to kill between appointments and went in there and overheard a young lady talking to one of the male employees about her recent sexual escapades, which is why I’m giving it a bump from three to four stars.
I will be back, but not too enthusiastically
