I love Chinatown! I think the food is good and reasonably priced. We love the ribs on the appetizer menu. And the combos are a great deal. It’s very convenient as I live right next door. The Chinese food is better than the Italian, but lets look at the name! Anyway, I would recommend it.

Very odd location but it’s nice inside. I was craving wor wonton soup and my favorite place is in all they way in Tierrasanta so that wasn’t going to happen. After reading some reviews my husband and I decided to check it out. I forgot what he ordered, but he was satisfied and I was happy with my wor wonton soup. It wasn’t like my favorite place’s but it was a good substitute. The staff was very friendly and the price was fair.

Food tasted awful! I tried the chicken low mein and the chicken did not have a good flavor! I also purchased pork potstickers and those tasted awful as well!!! My delivery guy was rude! He snatched the money out of my hand and just walked away!!! I Will never order from this place again!!!

Consistently good food. You get a lot and it’s very reasonably priced. Both the regular wonton soup and the wor wonton soup are excellent. Unfortunately, they are almost always short-staffed relative to the number of customers. They are always polite and try hard but the slow service can be frustrating. I’ve never had a bad meal here. It’s a local hang for sure and a great place for either dining in or take-out.

Set in the small shopping center with 7⁄11 by the railroad tracks, Chinatown shares their space with an Italian restaurant — Yes, quirky, but space efficient. I ordered take out from Chinatown, and my food was ready exactly as expected. I had the orange chicken and the mongolian beef. Both were adequately good, and very large portions. Included with each entrée is your choice of fried or white rice(we got one of each). The fried rice was my favorite part of the meal… that being said, the orange chicken was luke warm. The beef was a bit chewy. Everything was still totally edible, and I would return, despite the small complaints. Tons of food for the price!

This is our first visit to this very quiet Chinese and Italian restaurant.(My guess is that the owner wanted both kinds of ethnic foods under one roof.) This evening we had Chinese food(chicken kung pow, Mangolian beef, fried rice with chicken, and vegetable chow mein. Everything was served hot with a great Asian look to the dishes. Wonderful flavors and tastes were appreciated, however the Kung pow was not very spicy bordering on what would be considered almost bland. Be sure to request to have that dish more than a «medium» in spiciness if you like your kung pow chicken with a kick. Also, the fried rice was somewhat bland. It doesn’t even have an egg mixed in as most fried rice side dishes do. The Mongolian beef is very tender, but has a simple brown gravy mixed in, which is OK, but I’d like the distinct sweet spices that are in this type of dish served in other Chinese restaurants. All in all, it’s one of the nicest little Chinese restaurants around Highway 101 in North County. BTW, it cost only a mere dollar to substitute the white rice for the vegetable chow mein– unlike the over priced Chin’s Szechwan which is also in Encinitas.(They charged $ 11 for the substitution.) Give Chinatown a try. I think you’ll be very happy with their Chinese meals with their reasonably priced menu offerings.

Wow… very UNDERwhelming. Read the reviews, was hoping for a better experience. The ingredients were well-prepared and plentiful, the presentation good and then NOTHING. No flavor — not sure what’s up with that — the food looked great and then blah. I’m hoping this was just a bad night for them(but it’s Friday — shouldn’t we have gotten the«A» team?). We ordered pot stickers, House Special Chow Fun, Shrimp with Snow Peas and the Orange Chicken(since so many people said it was great). The Chow Fun had a great assortment of different proteins and plenty of them. No Flavor. The Shrimp with Snow Peas had lots of shrimp, beautifully prepared vegetables and, again, blah. The Orange Chicken? Not so orange, and not spicy, at all. I’m very saddened to have to report this — we were hoping for better…

I’ve had a ridiculous number of issues trying to order delivery from Chinatown in the past. But since delivery options in Encinitas are severely limited, and against my better judgement, I called to order. Rather than the usual, we have too man orders to deliver to you, or 90 minute+ wait time, they now no longer accept credit cards for delivery orders. However, if you bring in the credit card they can accept it. I’m sorry, what? Get with the program Chinatown.

Let’s face it, San Diego is not really known for it’s amazing Chinese food(or Mexican, for that matter). I am happy to say that I have finally found a place that meets my standards and more. First, it really reminds me of my favorite place in Austin that I ordered from all the time. Second, it’s not so damn expensive that I feel the need to take a second mortgage on my home just to eat there. The Sesame Chicken and Beef with Snow Peas were both great. I have to say that I am looking forward to trying my way through their menu. Happiness ensues…

I have driven by this place for years and was always turned off by the fact that they advertise«Chinese and Italian» food. We finally went here against my better judgment and instantly regretted the decision. The chicken was mysteriously spongey and the rest of the meal was flavorless. Do not recommend.

Just went to this place today — extremely satisfied! The servers are friendly, eager, and helpful, the portions are large, the food is tasty, and the prices are great. The food is comparable to The Oriental Pearl in the SF Chinatown, which is a huge compliment! I’ll definitely be coming here again and again and again.

So as we know Chinese food in San Diego is hard to come by and this place hits a how run for good local Chinese food. Is not fancy at all but you get a solid Chinese meal. I will keep coming back.

Service, price and quality are the reasons for a 5 star review. I am always greeted by name whenever I go in or place an order over the phone. Frank and Lily, the owners, care very much about their customers and the food they serve. My favorites are: Wot Wonton Soup Shrimp Fried Rice Kung Pao Chicken Spring Rolls I eat here about once a week on average and have yet to have a bad dish. There is also an Italian component to this restaurant called Grissini’s, but I have not tried any of their Italian food and cannot comment on it. Overall, I wish that all restaurants have the same type of service, quality and price. This is definitely a restaurant that I will continue to visit.

Locals flock to Chinatown Restaurant, the sea of patrons are as predictable as the tide. It took me a while to dine at Chinatown because I could not wrap my head around the concept of a Chinese and Italian food restaurant. I often wondered what it looked like inside and, despite good recommendations from my friends, i feared the unknown. But that all changed on Saturday when I met up with some friends that live 2 blocks away. They dine here so frequently that they have a menu stashed in the kitchen. They called in for take out and I had that awakening and instantly knew that the diverse menu is like a secret weapon. Making everyone happy with take out just became easier. I ordered the Kung Pao shrimp, the non traditional preparation included carrots and squash. The dish was served with fried vegetarian rice, generous shrimp, peanuts and some red chiles. The mild flavor of the brown sauce had the requisite salt, but the dish tasted more like stir fried shrimp than what I expected. At $ 10.50, it was a great value and I will ask for they to turn up the heat when I order it again. Chinatown, with it’s eclectic mix of Chinese and Italian cuisine fits right into the funky Leucadia restaurant scene.

The 4th star for THEYDELIVER. The food is good. Prices good. Portions large. Only $ 1 extra to «upgrade«to chicken fried rice. Loved the chili dumpling appetizer. We thought the orange chicken was only«average», but not bad — get them to add $ 1 worth of broccoli = good value. We didn’t care for the pan fried noodles, as the noodles were thinner and crispier than expected — personal taste. Also thought the mushy noodles inside the eggrolls were not a plus — maybe we should get soup next time? Nice delivery man, and the order was correct & quickly delivered.

I started coming here for the amazing choice of Chinese and Italian food merging into a one stop eatery. Now, I have become more invested in my restaurant choice. It appears as a foody love story. Italian man meets a pretty Asian girl, they fall in love and open a joint restaurant. But this tale is much deeper than that. Tony(the owner) has lived a long life and now wants to enjoy his retirement. His daughter Judy, has divorced her husband who still works at the restaurant. She is now seeing Erasmo. A hot tempered Latin lover who has his own plans for China town. To take out the Italian part of the menu and replace it with Mexican dishes. Depending on what time I day you get here, you can catch the cold glare of Erasmo hitting the thousand mile stare into Tony’s good eye. Judy and Erasmo still show affection like teenagers. Sometimes making the customers uncomfortable while they make out over the chicken parm/egg rolls. This restaurant is like a budding scene from a Tarentino film. You don’t know if someone is going to get shot, someone is going to sex on the counter or if the menu will be now serving taquito’s. Either way the food is fantastic and so is the people watching. Lunch special is $ 9.99

Been dining here for a years. What a great concept. Chinese and Italian all on the same menu and under the same roof. Something for everyone no? Food is quick to come out, friendly service and tasty. Don’t make it down here often but when I find myself in the area and we can’t decide what to eat, it’s an easy decision. Enjoy!

I have lived down the street from China Town for many years now. I finally decided to make a visit. It is run by a family. Very mellow and quaint. Drinks are cheap and food is very affordable. I ordered the orange chicken dinner special which came with a wonton, orange chicken and fried rice. It was similar to what you could get at Panda. However my friend ordered the Mongolian beef which was really good! I know what to order next time! Overall interesting place.

Great food and service. Go every time we visit the area on vacation. All the dishes are plentiful and taste great. My daughter usually gets Italian food and the spaghetti is excellent.
