Cal Pacific Orchids Farm

Went here yesterday (5÷27÷2016) to pick up some flowers for my mom, I had no idea what to get but the staff there were two lovely ladies who helped me find exactly what I wanted! Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful place for green thumbs that love orchids. All different types of orchids one of a kind. This place is special in so many ways puts a smile on my face wouldn’t change one thing. Prices are pretty good not bad at all $ and there is boarding for your orchids cheap about 1.75 a month. The employees are very helpful will walk you through on how to take care of your orchids step by step. Happy happy joy joy!!!

An absolute sanctuary for orchid lovers. Even my hubs (who does not really care about orchids) was having a blast! They have a really awesome selection of orchids. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have orchid boarding. An orchid hospital of sorts. Its something like $ 1.75 per plant per month, 5 plant minimum, and they will repot them for $ 3. They have a HUGE greenhouse full of guest orchids, seriously there can’t be less than 1000 orchids. They are open Monday to Saturday. Parking available, just pull up the driveway. They have a large section of orchids for sale. They are not cheap, but they are all very healthy looking and they have a ton of rare orchids that you wont find in a grocery store. I will definitely bring friends and family here, I recommend if you enjoy gardening, flowers, or botany in general.

Fabulous Place !!! Educational too. The women that work there are so sweet and very knowledgable. Well worth the trip.

I have visited the nursery on multiple occasions and always leave with a smile and several gorgeous plants. I have never used the boarding but will as soon my plants are not in bloom as I have moved into a condo and temperature doesn’t rise/​drop as a resting orchid likes. Their prices are a bit high but come on, you are not going to find plants like these at Vons. Susan (I hope I am right) is very friendly and knowledgeable about the flowers. I can’t wait to visit again.

LOVE THIS PLACE! It was first time here and WOW, I was amazed! The plants are absolutely gorgeous! The owner, or I thought was the owner, was extremely friendly and even gave us a tour of the place! She taught us all we needed to know about different orchids! I can’t wait to go back and buy some orchids! They also offer a «orchid hotel» in which you can leave your orchids, they care for them until they bloom, once they bloom they call you to pick them up.

It is kind of a whole n the wall but have wonderful arrangements. On the negative side they do NOT ship anything but small single Orchids so it was kind of a tease. They woman who worked there was very pleasant and answered a lot of my questions about the care of Orchids. I wish I could post pictures because the designer is a genius with Orchids! I took a lot of pictures so I can buy some here at home.
I decided to visit this Orchid Farm because the hotel we were staying at had absolutely BEAUTIFUL Orchid arrangements throughout their hotel and when I mentioned them they gave us their card and they are located very close to the hotel (West Inn & Suites in Carlsbad)

Cal Pacific is my happy place! First and foremost, everyone here is so sweet and helpful.
Room and board is awesome and affordable. You drop off your orchid when it’s done blooming and then they call you when it’s budding again!
Definitely check it out if you like orchids! :)

The staff, though a little prickly, is so knowledgable about orchids and their care. I was going to select a beautiful yellow one before the staff member told me that after it bloomed, I needed to put it outside. My outdoor space is limited, so I decided to select another variety. The half-​price table in the back is great. I bought a plant from there my first visit in December that it just now dropping blossoms. 3.5 months of enjoyment at 50% off? Not bad. They gave me both plants at half price during that visit since the second plant didn’t have any buds. During my second visit, they also gave my 50% off two of the plants that weren’t on the back tables. The price break is substantial enough to fuel my orchid obsession. It’s true that you’ll buy more when you think you’re getting a good deal :-) I plan to take some of my plants back eventually for repotting. Happily, they offer this service.

There are so many different breeds of orchids in this farm, you eyes will be wide open as soon as you enter the orchid farm and you will feel like a kid in the candy store if you like orchids! The owner of the farm is very sweet and generous. I accidentally killed my orchids 2 days after I bought it and when I brought it back to the orchid farm, she exchanged it and give me a new one right away! Totally made my day! Strongly recommend this place!!!

The selection of orchids is amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful!

This place rocks! Only if the staff was more friendly. When we walked in I was hit with a warm feeling and my eyes must have explored because of the beautiful arrangements everywhere I looked.
My son was given a cool crystal (only to slow him down from knowing things over) ask for one (free for kids) they are on a shelve to the right as you walk in. wrapped in white paper.
Prices are higher than normal on flowers and vases. Go here for ideas. 300 – 500 for arrangements and 60 – 70 for orchids is just a little crazy.

I grow orchids as one of my hobbies; the only problems that ever arises from them is when I have people house sit for me because they shock my poor plants. Anyway, on with my review. The people who work there are super knowledgeable and nice. When I mentioned that my mother in-​law was building a room just for her orchids, the woman helping me gave me a pamphlet and packet to help her get the humidity just right for all of her orchids.

We were traveling down the highway and saw the sign for this greenhouse and I thought it would be fun to check out. My husband was agreeable and we went in and explored. My oh MY, it was like paradise. As I looked around, my husband brought his camera in and started taking pictures. While I never had an orchid before, I had to make a purchase. Since I am from Phoenix, I held it carefully all the way home.
This year, we went back and I took advantage of all of their help. I asked a lady to help me pick out a good orchid (I have NO idea what to look for) and she found one with 23 buds. She also helped me find a container to put it in. It has been so much fun to watch the buds open one by one.
I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in flowers.

As an orchid lover this is also known as heaven for orchid enthusiasts!
It’s kind of hidden and looks like your driving up to someones home but once you get up the steep hill and park… you will be in the greatest orchid place ever!
The large beautiful ones are up front and the more exotic orchids are to the right of the shop.
The ladies are so helpful and knowledgable. You can bring in your sick/​dying orchid and they will doctor it up for you to pick up in a few months!
Their prices are decent. Not Trader Jo’s, but these are not the typical orchid either.
Lots of media to choose from and if you get there on an order day, you can go in back (off limits usually) and pick out your favorite from back there. They were having a sale so a friend and I got to go back… we felt special like we had back stage passes or something.
If you love orchids and are in town, it’s worth exiting the freeway for a short visit… or an hour. I usually stay an hour easy!

This place is impressive. I love the orchid «room and board» service they have. It’ll be worth the monthly cost to have them care for the orchids that I have a hard time caring for, don’t have the space for, or the plants that are really expensive and exotic. That way I just need to pick them up when they are back in bloom and rotate the ones that are finished out. I’ll keep my cymbidiums since they can withstand the cold and are easy to care for. YAY!
I also got an education of several more varieties of orchids. Just walking around this place on a weekend morning is a treat!

Cal Pacific is a hidden sanctuary of sorts. Its two acres of greenhouses, filled with exotic orchids from around the world is breathtaking. Unless you have a passion for orchids you most likely would not come across this place in your everyday travels as it is located off the beaten path.
Tucked away on a quiet street in Leucadia, Cal Pacific is also home to the only neighborhood Orchid Hotel where you can bring in your orchid plants whose blooming season has finished and this place will re-​pot, nurture and house your babies until they bloom again. The rate is $ 1.50 per month per plant and there is a minimum of 5 plants per hotel lot. Pretty nifty eh? Orchids stay in bloom anywhere from one to four months.
The owner Kathy Desmond has been in the flower biz for many years and although most local greenhouses have been sold to developers this one is here to stay. The pictures tell it all.
