Business Owner

I have been teaching hula for 27 years, and dancing for 38 years. My first hula teacher was my mother Hannah Kainoa Gleason. She came from a small Hawaiian homestead on the Island of Hawai’i, called Keaukaha. I later went on to learn from Kumu Hula William Kaulu Charmin, in the suburbs of Chicago, at the age of 10 & then from Kumu Hula William (Suse) Soares, in Kohala, HI at the age of 16. Both Kumu’s put me through separate Uniki (graduation) ceremonies in 1990 & 1991. I continued to teach as an Alaka’i (teacher’s aide) to my mother, until I started my own Halau in 2005.
