Elmwood Park Public Library

Staff is helpful. I am part of a little research group petitioning for an Apple computer but according to our spokesperson who approached a few people, it will not happen.
I cannot speak for our spokesperson who reported back that there was no interest in our request, but I am disappointed that neither the Mayor nor the librarian head did not understand how this has stifled our collective research.
The library is modern, well lit, well stocked, but having a large number of
PC’s and not one Apple computer is unfair to researchers, writers and others who rely on using the library resources while on a on site computer. It is as village expenditures go, a modest expenditure.
We voted for Mayor Saviano hoping for true representation of all his
constituents needs. We intend to speak to nearby libraries in the hope
that they can fill the need, but If not, then we will make one last request of this mayor after which we will show our huge disappointment in a few
more years.
This A-​Ok rating is for the staff. the library programs and its inventory
exclusively.

I love this library. My son loves it to. My husband and I take our son to the library after school and he plays the computer games while we borrow a lot of kids books! The librarians are always wonderful and helpful. There are kids programs too, we recently went to an event where a paleontologist was speaking about dinosaurs and actually had fossils that the kids could touch! We also attended a puppet show in the same room at the library last year that was wonderful! When I forgot to return a book recently the librarians were so understanding and nice about it. I am happy to have this library close by.

My first visit here was yesterday with my 5 year-​old daughter. Loved it! What a wonderful children’s area with tons of books, comfy places to sit, and nice computers with child-​appropriate learning programs. I think we will be spending a lot of time here going forward!

Slightly smaller than say the Niles and Eisenhower (Norridge/​Harwood Heights) libraries, but also not as tiny as the River Grove library either. But I don’t think any suburban library can beat River Grove’s library, in that regard. :) For what it is, not a bad library.
It’s been a few years since I last visited here, but I want to say that the kids and Elmwood Park village history room are on the 2^nd floor. The adult books are mainly all on the first floor. It’s a fine library, looked clean when I visited, and no complaints from me.

This is my village library and I am really happy to have it. The kids room is great, there is a nice selection, and everyone working there is very helpful. I love that I can go in with a list of books and they pull everything for me rather than me having to chase my children around to find my books. I also love their online portal that makes requesting books super easy.

When I was a kid I had a history fair project to do with a friend. We decided to do something on the 1968 Democratic National Convention and the 1998 Democratic National Convention and Chicago.
Scouring through the bookshelves and scrambling through the magazines we saw picture after picture after picture. We then decided to use the nuclear option and broke out a pair of sharp scissors and started cutting out everything we wanted.
You would have thought that we were doing a collage in our own living rooms, but it was in a quiet unoccupied part of the library. Thank you, Elmwood Park and we’re sorry we took your pictures!!!
