On Christmas day we unfortunately discovered that our giant wool living room rug was infested with moths: larvae, webbing, you name it. On the first business day I cold-called Errol to try to set up an appointment, based on reviews I saw elsewhere. Then a blizzard hits and businesses are closed and I was slightly panicking since the moth damage was 1) already extensive, and 2) quite disgusting. But after leaving him a message he got back to me as soon as he was open for business again, which was in about a day or two. (I found that I didn’t always get through to him right away, probably because he is a busy one-man operation. But he always returned my phone calls.) On the day of our appointment came when expected, was very professional, thorough and courteous. He explained very clearly what are problem was and what he proposed as a solution, including the kind of pesticide he was using. And he scheduled a follow-up appointment as part of his service. The procedure involved spraying the top and bottom of the rug as well as on the floorboards, in the space between the baseboard molding and the floor, and underneath the radiators. He explained how the moths could easily get into any living space(their eggs could have also been in the rug even before we took it home from the carpet store). Not wanting to go through this again, I asked him about preventative measures, and he was very helpful. Since December, we’ve had no further infestation. I truly hope I don’t have to depend on his services again(I wouldn’t want another horrible bug issue like this one), but if there is a problem, I won’t hesitate to call him. Highly recommended.

Errol Fisher is the man at Citadel Pest Control. Very professional service. I found carpenter ants in my basement and pavement ants in my home this summer. I called a number of local independent and franchise pest control companies. Errol was the only person to answer my call on a weekend. He came to my house on Monday, did an inspection, and proposed a solution. I asked him a ton of test question about different sorts of bait and pesticides, and he passed with flying colors. He went after the nests inside the house, but wasn’t able to reach them due to their location. He explained that he could reach the nests by drilling into the foundation, but didn’t recommend it. Instead, he put down pesticide dust in the areas near the nests. As part of the treatment, he sprayed the perimeter of the house with pesticide and also put down poisonous bait. It took a couple of weeks, but all of the ants are gone now! Be careful when you hire a pest control company. A lot of the companies won’t come to your house unless you agree to contract for monthly service. Stay away from them. One company I called tried to scare me by saying there were probably ant nests all over the house on every floor, and they would have to drill holes in the walls all over the place to put in pesticide dust every month. You want to minimize the amount of pesticides in your home, especially if you have pets or kids.
