History

Established in 1953.

Dr. Jerome Zwanger founded his radiology practice with the purpose of providing physicians and patients on Long Island with modern medical diagnostics in a caring and compassionate environment. His partnership with Dr. E.J. Pesiri began in 1958 and continued until July of 2001, when Dr. Pesiri retired. Dr. Zwanger continued to practice part-time until he retired in June 2008.

Headed by Steven L. Mendelsohn, M.D. and Susan Zwanger-Mendelsohn, M.D., Zwanger-Pesiri has grown into one of the most respected radiology practices in the U.S. today.

I’ve had a few tests her and they are great. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. The technicians were very caring and professional. Each time I was there, I was in and out with very little wait time. I highly recommend this location of Zwanger!

HORRIBLE … Staff has no idea of whats going on and who came in first or last… I come in for a 10 – 15 minute X-Ray (according to the front desk receptionist) and i end up staying here for over 2 hours! What made me really angry was how 3 patients who came in after me got seen before me … Mind you i have the simplest form of imaging needed (X-Ray) not even an MRI which usually take longer due to the the process. No form of office coordination and communication whatsoever and definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this place and any of their offices at all.

I went to their Smithtown, New York office for a simple MRI for my knee and the technician clamped my knee in the machine pinching it. I told him him that he hurt me and he proceeded to do it again and once more painfully pinched my knee leaving a red mark which I took a picture of. I spoke to the office manager who was pleasant and had the office nurse look at it. He was officious and snarkily asked if I wanted an ice pack and when I replied «no, that I didn’t come there to be injured», he sarcastically asked if I wanted to see the office doctor. The office manager apologized saying the tech was very experienced and that he was their best technician. I found out he went home right after that. The office manager explained that it was an accident. I said that I knew it was not intentional and that I could understand it happening once but after having alerted him it shouldn’t have occurred again. He was just plain clumsy.

Had to take our son here for an emergency CT scan the day after New Years. They gave us an appointment within two hours of calling them. Everyone that we dealt with was extremely nice. Our doctor called with the results of the scan before we even left and the receptionist even got us the full report right away. Hopefully, we won’t need another scan, but if we do, we know where we’re going!
