I visited the Split Rock Brew Pub tonight with some friends. Though I expected more of a sports bar atmosphere, the restaurant was very clean. The SRBP did lack ambience and I thought it was a little weird how there is a view of the arena’s concession stand as you’re eating. I would rather see a hockey game… The food was very good, I had the Jackal Burger which is half burger and Italian sausage, it was excellent. The fries were flavorable, crispy, and very tasty. I did try the Poutine. To me, it was very salty, but I had nothing to compare it to since it was my first experience with Poutine. The trivia night held there was fun and draws a large crowd. The menu had a lot of variety! I’m not one to drink, but the bar looked great. Unfortunately I felt the restaurant’s name was misleading since they do not brew their own beer like other brew pubs I’ve been to! Honestly, the SRBP is a step far above most restaurants in Elmira. I would definitely go again…

This restaurant was inside of an arena, and therefore lacked any real ambiance or mood. The beer is not brewed on site as one may be led to believe by the restaurants name, and is mediocre. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the stuffed banana peppers which were unique and pretty good. I also ordered The beef on weck which was not that great and lacked any real flavor. The outdoor seating was dissapointing due to the large number of insects, including large wasps. I would not return to this location.

Recently visited SplitRock Brewing Co. on a sunny afternoon for a bite to eat. Did not try a craft beer — but plan to on the next visit. The food was very good. We shared the Empire State Style fries(crispy fries topped w/brown gravy and sharp cheese), and Buffalo Chicken Dip — the fries were very good. The wing dip was lukewarm, but had good flavor and taste. Next we shared the Stuffed Chicken Sandwich, which is a baked chicken breast stuffed w/spinach artichoke filling. The filling was delicious, the chicken a bit on the tough/dry side, but good overall. The upside is that overall the food was quite good, the service was friendly, and the menu offered a nice variety of pub– style items. I’d definitely visit the place again. On the downside, the place lacks any kind of warmth or ambience, there’s no positive or negative feel at all. The atmosphere doesn’t lend itself to create any type of mood, or tone. A bit like 4 walls with a bar, and tables/chairs. They do have outside patio seating which is nice on the warm sunny days.
