Of the four Elmira-​area bookstores listed in Google, this is the only one that’s (a) still open and (b) not devoted to porn. So, instant win.
But really, it’s a great place. Just across the river from Elmira’s downtown, it has a great selection of what people are actually reading. Probably half the store is fiction — genre fiction, classic fiction, children’s fiction, or Christian fiction — and the other half has history, the arts, a small selection of philosophy, and science. The prices are excellent, amazing really, and the proprietor buys back books. It sounds like many of the locals use the store as a renting library — carting armloads of books away and bringing armloads back.
If you’re in the area, you should definitely stop by.
