My girlfriend made me go back because she wanted Mexican food and there really doesn’t seem to be much near me besides this place. The staff is friendly. They have really cleaned up the restaurant. The tacos this time were not bad. Chicken was dry but pretty good. My girlfriend had the nachos Mexicanos. She said they were good. It’s whatever. Not excellent and inconsistent. Happened to be ok this time around.

I visit this restaurant about once every month. It’s perfect for picking up dinner on the way home. I usually get the roast chicken with sides of corn and green beans. The beans are cooked with a tomato sauce, and are delicious.

The steak tacos are good. I think they put too much seasoning on their chicken tacos. This is a good place for traditional Mexican food. I will return. The prices are reasonable and service is ok.

My wife isn’t a huge fan of this place… but then again, she married me, so she obviously has terrible taste! I, on the other hand, love the hell out of this place. My go to meal is the #5, which is a half chicken, and half slab of ribs, with 2 sides. Not once have I been disappointed. The food comes out quick, and always hot and fresh. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and can say that I have been happy 100% of the time. Now comes the service… Ere is always there to greet with you with a smile, and give you suggestions on what to order if variety is what you are seeking. I usually come later, so she chats, and teaches me about things like tamarindo’s and such. Don’t not try this place, as it is top on my rotation of take-out, and where I go whenever my wife is not home for dinner.

Wow! Just stopping by in elmhurst my wife and I decided to give this place a shot. Nothing fancy it looks like a chain(los pollos hermanos anyone?) but the food is way better than that. The chicken fell off the bone and was juicy. Tacos were excellent as well. I got a Asada and an al pastor. We split a quarter dark chicken and my wife got a quesadilla to go with it. Cheap and quick dinner for $ 13. Friendly lady at the counter as well. Would definitely stop by again anytime I get to elmhurst.

Worst food and service. I order the #1 chicken 2 side Portions are so small probably 5 Oz each cold food stale tortillas and my Chicken was burnt and spoiled I pulled apart my chicken because it taste grainy and had a weird flavor. The chicken was yellowish and a lime green color. I call the manager over she said she didn’t see anything wrong with the chicken. And that it looked that way because it was roster chicken and the seasoning they use. Bs. I was very upset cuz i always get roasted chicken from Costco and never had it look like this. I paid $ 20 for 2 plates of spoiled chicken. NEVERWILL I COMEHEREAGAINAND I HOPETHEYENJOYTHEIRVISITFROMTHEHEALTHDEPARTMENT.

Wish I could do negative… I ordered a steak gordita and it looked so good so I sink my teeth into it and bammm nearly cracked a tooth. I took off filling and tapped it on table and t was rock hard!!! The man behind the counter was kind enough to offer a new one but that was the least he can do. Never coming back.

Ow man… I was trying to pass some time to avoid traffic, and saw this place at random. I was ready to give it 5 stars because the tacos were SO good, like Soooo Good! But then I had the side guacamole and it was dark and not very fresh, and they had a funky flavor, so that was disappointing cuz I had already chomped down the tacos and the guacamole was my last impression: C so I do highly recommend the tacos, just not the guacamole. I would come back again if I’m around tho: D

My husband saw this place on the way home from the airport so we decided to try it. He ordered the rotisserie chicken. It looked and tasted like it cooked all day and we were the ones that saved it. My rib tips were good but half of them had dried on sauce like they also sat around the sun all day. The cucumber salad was slimy. Enough said on that. The mole enchiladas were good. The side guacamole was old and dark green. The order of ribs were good. You know because my 8 yr old cleaned out the plate.

I love this place!!! LOVE!!! I have not had one thing from here that has not been good. The chicken, tacos, enchiladas, etc… all of it is delicious! I cannot even describe how great the green avocado sauce is. Perfection! Their horchata(rice water) is superb. A local somewhat hidden gem. I highly recommend it.

Boy, have I had tough luck finding a good Mexican restaurant in the west burbs. I’ve always passed by this place and decided to try it one day. Glad I fell in to this little spot. They specialize in rotisserie chicken, I usually don’t order chicken when I get Mexican but since this is their specialty I gave it a try. I always try and get tacos when I’m trying a new Mexican place. If they can make a good taco, that’s all that matters! I tried a steak, al pastor, and a chicken taco. I have to say, the chicken was my favorite! The al pastor second and the steak was steak. Although I did like that the steak did not have fat or grease unlike most places! Once a place serves fatty or greasy food, that’s it for me. This place had well cooked meats without all the grease! I liked that the steak and al pastor had a fresh off the grill, charred taste to it, just the way I like it! It was also pretty clean with lot’s of seating. I saw last minute that they had sopes, so I will be back to try that! Hopefully, if they stay consistent this will be my new go-to place for Mexican food. It’s not in my neighborhood but it’s worth the 15 minute drive out of the way.

What I like about the Los Fernandez Rosticeria is that it may be the only place in town where you can get truly authentic Mexican food. The first time I ate here I thought it was awesome. The second time it was just good, not great. However, my friend said he loved the chicken. So, that would be the recommendation. Skip the steak tacos and go for the chicken. Take a pass on the nopal(cactus juice) and get an horchata. If you’re in the mood for quick Mexican food in Elmhurst, this is the place to visit. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal

Chicken: Tastier, juicier, larger portions than Boston Market. Chicken Gravy: Stale after taste. Dinner Roll: Stale. Asked for another, also stale. Beans in Tomatoe Sauce: Excellent Mashed Potatoes: Very Good Beverages: behind counter, inconvenient to ask for refill. Seating: Comfortable Atmosphere: good daylight, roomy Staff: Could be a little friendlier Parking: good Traffic: at rush hour, could be tight

Rosticeria los Fernandez got my hopes up. Divey(but clean) location, plenty of Hispanic customers(so the food’s got to be legit, right?), and even two guys chatting in Polish seated behind us(that must mean EVERYONE likes this food, right?) I met up here with my bud, Courtney C., in an effort to slim down our list of bookmarks. I was indecisive about what to order, everything looked good! I ended up getting the Torta Cubana, a Mexican sandwich with ham, breaded steak, cheese, guacamole, refried beans, and sour cream. I had the choice of beans & rice or fries. I asked the cashier if they had black beans, but I don’t think she understood me as she said«uhhh beans… we have beans» and pointed to a picture of refried beans on the wall. To be safe, I asked for fries instead. I added on a Pineapple Jarritos, my favorite Mexican soda, and spent about $ 11 on my meal. Courtney’s chimichanga was the crispiest I’ve ever seen, or heard, when she tapped her fork on it. I usually order a chimichanga at Mexican restaurants, and I definitely had some regrets while eating my torta. The bread was really good, but the steak was really dry and I didn’t see or taste any cheese. Overall there wasn’t much flavor to my meal. The salsa verde on the table helped a little bit, but only so much. I’d give Rosticeria another shot if I were in the area, but I would order something else. It’s definitely not something I’d drive out of my way for, considering that good Mexican restaurants are on every other block in both the city and suburbs.

Do you like bacon? Of course you do. Well I’ve got a secret. The rotisserie chicken at Rosticeria los Fernandez tastes like bacon. Seriously. It’s hickory smoked and the most delicious rotisserie chicken I’ve ever had. You need to get in here and put it in your mouth. You’ll thank me. It’ll be the most delicious chicken you’ve ever had too. Everything here is good, but I highly recommend the chicken in some form. I’ve been known to pick up full ones to take home for dinner, but they also have various meal options for you to add delicious homemade Mexican sides to. Their chicken tacos are also some of the best I’ve ever tried, and they also make a mean breakfast. And if you’re thirsty, try the horchata. It’s the kind of non-glamorous place you forget about because it’s not fancy at all. Located on a corner in a non-busy strip mall with a liquor store next door, it’s the type of place you can totally drive by a million times and never give a second thought to. Do me a favor, give it a second and third, and as many thoughts as you need until you come here, order the chicken and leave full and happy. In fact, call me. I work just a few blocks away.
