Floofins & Co. cares for two of Chicagoland pet parents’ most precious assets (their pets and their home) while they are away. We are a group of true pet lovers, providing customized pet care solutions for busy pet parents.

Floofins & Co. currently provides pet sitting, dog walking, private in-home training, pet taxi and dog staging services.

History

Established in 2010.

After watching her two Maltese pups Priscilla and Portia (Prissy and Poopsie) on webcam hiding behind water bowls at various doggy daycares and posh dog hotels, Floofins & Co. founder, Kristin Skelton, decided there had to be a better way to keep her girls safe and happy while she was away from home. While some dogs thrive at doggy daycare and with group play, her’s did not.

After looking into other ways to care for her pets, Kristin found a concept that is gaining popularity in the Midwest, the in-home pet sitter. Already having an entrepreneurial spirit, she found something she could be passionate about: providing an additional care option for Chicagoland pet parents. An animal lover, pet owner and shelter volunteer, Kristin left the 9 to 5 for the 6 to 10 to follow her passion for pets.

Business Owner

Founder/Owner Kristin Skelton left the world of corporate marketing with a mission to create a unique experience for other pet owners. With so many pet care options, Kristin constantly strives to keep up with the latest and greatest practices in the pet care industry and connects with clients to meet their pet’s needs.

Kristin has been an active volunteer with the Hinsdale Humane Society and PAWS Chicago. She is a Certified Pet Sitter through the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) as well as a Certified Pet Care Technician through the Pet Care Services Association. She also spends additional time working with the website committee at NAPPS and is studying to become a Red Cross Instructor in Pet First Aid and CPR.

Let me just start by saying the Renee and Patricia, the 2 who cared for our dogs, went above and beyond my expectations and provided an outstanding service and I couldn’t have been more pleased. They probably cared for our dogs better than we do!
This was my first experience using this type of service and have traditionally gone the kenneling route. Because one of our new dogs is heartworm positive, she needed to be maintained in a calm, sedate environment to prevent complications from the heartworm treatment. As such, kenneling was not an option. After speaking with Kristen, the owner, meeting the dog walkers who would be caring for the dogs and checking references, I took a leap of faith and hired Floofins to care for the dogs during our week long vacay. Things became more complicated the night before our departure as our new dog contracted some stomach virus and had TERRIBLE diarrhea… all over the basement floor. Getting to the vet was not possible before our departure. Despite my efforts w/Kaeopectate, she continued to make a mess all over the basement floor. Oh, and we were also «showing» our house during our absence as it was on the market for sale. Needless to say, I was mortified! I hardly knew these dogwalkers and was asking them to clean up a horrible, disgusting mess!
Not only did they clean up after the dogs, they bought extra cleaning supplies and mops to scurb the floor. There wasn’t even the slightest sign of resentment, frustration or hardship and they took it in stride. (not sure I would have been as amenable in the same situation!). Absolutely AMAZING. Our house was in better shape upon our return than it was when we left! And, most importantly, our dogs’ lives were not disrupted in the slightest and they were happy as could be.
For someone who was as trepidatious as I at using an «in home service», I am now comfortable enough to let Floofins keep the keys to my home so that I can use them again!!! Thank you to Floofins and especially to Renee and Patricia for their dedication and professionalism in caring for our 2 labs as well as if not better than we would have. You’re the best!

I had to find someone to walk my dog after breaking my ankle 9 months ago and have an unknown amount of time I will still be off my feet. I found Floofins on Unilocal and obviously all of the reviews are glowing. I called on a Monday and was surprised that they actually spend the time to come out to the house with the owner and the dog walker to make sure my dog was comfortable with her. They actually took the dog for a walk to feel out her temperament and likes and dislikes on a walk. The next day my walker Tiffany came out and walked Bella and brought her back panting which is exactly what I wanted and what Bella needed. Tiffany is awesome and doesn’t let Bella spend too much time sniffing and more time walking. Bella loves Tiffany and is very excited every time she arrives. That love is reciprocated from Tiffany as well. After each walk I get a report about how the walk went and then Tiffany washes and refills Bella’s water dish and gives her her treat. Also all billing is done automatically with my credit card and the schedule for the next week is emailed to me. This is one of the most positive dealings I have ever had with any service industry company and I don’t know what I or Bella would do without them!!!

Outstanding customer service! We were out of state when our normal sitter had an emergency. Kristin took care of us and sent Jim to the rescue. He sent us updates and our dogs were well cared for. We have also had Mandy watch our dogs. She exceeded our expectations for a sitter. We love and appreciate Kristin and her staff!

Anyone who really loves their dog will use Kristin (the owner) and her team. They are reliable, available and great with our dog. We have been using their service (Natalie is our walker) for almost three months and have had an absolutely wonderful experience.

I would be lost without these people. Jessica treats Boomer like he is her dog and I never worry about his safety or well being while I am at work or on vacation. They leave great up dates for you to read when you get home, and you get very easy to read emails out lining your monthly bill.

Cathy our sitter was amazing, texting me daily updates and sending pictures of my babies Aesop and Peabo. Just wanted to post an update: I am Floofins’ first client regularly using PayPal to pay for services. It’ working out extremely well. Kristin, the owner, had no trouble adjusting her accounting routine to support the PayPal form of payment.
One other update: my dogs love the walker, Michele. They’re also forming a good bond with the alternate walker who covers for Michele when she’s not available.
