Ed Napleton Acura

I came there the Saturday after Thanksgiving to test drive an RDX and perhaps an MDX. The salesman (Dennis) was not on his game. Long story short (and I will give the long story) is that he just did not give me his time of day.
When I first walked into the dealership, there seemed to be a fair amount of business going on, so it took a while to get a salesperson. When a salesman did come for me, I explained to him what I wanted (test drive), he asked me for my DL, which was fine. He takes it, comes back and asked where I live (which no other dealership asked). He goes away and then comes back asking why I don’t live where my license says (I work far from where my family lives, I registered where I work because I’m there ⁵⁄₇ days a week, but my home is where my wife and family live so that is where my life is centered), he then asks LOTS of questions like I’m out to pull a con. What do you do? Why don’t you live with your family? Why are you looking for a car here? What does your wife do? Who is buying a car? Geeze, I just wanted a test drive and I’m sure you’ll be riding shotgun. I’m here on holiday, it’s not like I *have* to shop my local Acura dealership, or should I…
Any rate, he said he’d get me an RDX first, give him 10 minutes. He took 20. We go for a drive and the first thing out of my mouth, «tell me about this vehicle, dazzle me.» He said literally a few things about the car instead of the whole 9 yards. I had to push him to tell me about its options, its warranty, its maintenance schedule, its popularity, and if the dealership was running any specials. He was more intent on social chit-​chat then about the business of selling a car. From that, I find they’re having an awesome month, probably the best ever. That should have been a red flag for me as far as customer service.
Any rate, we get back, good test drive. The car felt pretty good. I told him during the drive that this vehicle was competing with BWM X3 and 5, Mercedes GLA, and Volvo XC60 and 90 (he didn’t even say much in the way of convincing me why I should buy a Acura). So we get back, I told him that I’m running out of time and I won’t be able to testdrive an MDX. Can I just get your card/​contact info? he said ‘yes’, but he left me to attend to other customers and kept me as a hang’er-on’er, «I’ll be right with you!» Unreal! After a couple minutes, he’s with at least two other customers, can’t you just give me your card first? That is a poor handling of priorities, Dennis. I just walked out of there and as I’m about to pull out, he ran after me with his card, trying to slide it through the window crack. Seriously?..
Maybe you’re having an awesome month, but you really fronted an impression of just not caring because a sale from me was not necessary. You basically blew any chance your dealership had.

I have purchased two cars from Napoleon Acura this year and had a great experience. My salesman was Tim McLean both times. He makes the buying process very easy and non-stressful.The first car, Tim took me out for a test drive. Didn’t pressure me. I informed him that I was waiting on a settlement for auto accident. He kept in touch but didn’t harass me like some other places. I purchased both a new and used vehicle this year. Tim was friendly, very knowledgeable about the vehicles. All the team members seemed nice. I had managers stopping over to say hi. The service department was very friendly and helpful. Took care of some minor issues, and helped me learn about the electronics in the car. Financing was great too. I was informed of a 2.99% rate. When I went to sign the paperwork, they actually got me down to 2.22%. Nice lobby, coffee, water, wifi and they are installing a new car wash free for their customers. I would highly recommend Napleton Acura for both sales and service.

I had one of the worst experience at this Dealership Today. This was completely Bait and Switch operation at this dealership. Truly opposite of what they claim. They made an appointment for me to see a used car, and when I got there (driving 50 miles) they told me that the car (they acknowledge last night being available) was suddenly sold late last night, but they have other cars available for them to test drive and see. This is Very Sleazy operation. I would not recommend anyone going there, All the 5 star reviews are probably bought.
My experience not only left me not trusting any other dealership but left me in doubt about humanity.
I just walked out of the place, and the sales man Dan Mulcahy’s co-​worker name Dennis try to run after me followed me to the car trying to convince me to look at other cars. No Way I was going back in there. I would also give them negative stars, if I could.

Communicated with salesman over text and email about new car. Says they will send over figures via email and then texts back they won’t because they believe are being secret shopped. Whatever. Lost a potential customer. Also claims they can’t send over Costco numbers over email. Except we we weren’t talking Costco numbers

Would rate this dealer a zero on selling tactics if I could… but the rating scale won’t go that low.
For anyone trying to buy a used car especially, be very careful of their tactics to raise their advertised prices.
Here how it works:
They advertise the car online for a price. When you get there, they will have you drive it. After driving it, they will inform that they have added a «Protection Package» to protect the Interior for a additional $ 999 .whether you want it or not… you are paying for it!!! Yep, that’s right! A great way to raise the price of the car from what they advertised it! You could TRY to negotiate it away, but that’s what they want! They don’t want you focus on negotiating the original sale price!
They want you pre-​occupied with trying to get out of some kind of extra charges or fees.
Also, be prepared to being handed off to the Sales Manager to work on you to pay more. (Ken) in my case. Didn’t listen to a thing I said. Only interested in a sale for more than you are willing to pay. However, I will say that he was polite about it, and did not try to high pressure me or berate me. (That is the positive). By the way, the Salespeople know this is going to happen… unfortunately they don’t have a choice! Apparently, this is how the ownership chooses to operate. (Will post if I hear from the ownership with an explanation)
There are dealers that don’t use these tactics! I recommend you find one.
Here’s how: ASK before you go to the dealership! Insist on an answer. Don’t let them get away with saying they will work to earn your business. If they are truly trying to earn your business, you should be asked if you want this add on!
Earning your business means giving the customer what they want… not giving them something they didn’t ask for and making YOU PAY FOR IT!
Also, I have read posts from GM’s at other dealerships who actually contact those with poor experiences… and make it right. My experience has shown there are great dealers that will earn your business. Do your homework. Reviews are a good way to find one.

I have contacted this dealership on several occasions. I initialized engagement via through my
app then followed up through email, then called and even filled out a financial application and still no reply? Is there a shortage of people working there or am I just not business that is wanted?

Service department is a scam — brought my car in for A1 service, which is an oil change and tire rotation according to the manual, they charged me $ 150 — changed my wiper blades which I did not even ask for or does it say it is necessary in the manual. On top of that the worker tried bribing me at the end by saying I would be getting a survey from Acura and if I give good ratings he would give me a discount on my next (overpriced) service. I knew the dealer would be expensive but needed to get this done before I go on a trip, never again will I be going back here.

Highly recommend Napleton’s Acura. excellent service on my 2004 MDX… competent and timely service. Todd in Service was helpful and efficient.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They inquired my credit through 16 banks! Who does that? Usually 3 – 4 institutions is average. These inquiries negatively affect your credit score. My fica score was good. Not sure why they needed to shop rates. Audacious sales tactics.

Everything you would think of a stereotypical dealership. Had one person tell me the car I wNt to look at was there being detailed after a repair. Another person telling me it won’t be back for 2 or 3 more days. Another phone call told me to come in the morning but the other person said they will have back in another 2 days. To bad for them as I had to buy a car that day after a week of being jacked around by them.

This review is for the service department.
I called the night before I wanted to drop my car off and asked if they had any free vehicle loaners available. I was told that they do not offer this anymore, but they have a courtesy van drop off or I could rent a vehicle for $ 35 dollars a day. I’ve brought my vehicles to this place at least a half dozen times in the past and this was the first time free loaners were not offered.
So I brought my MDX in the next day because the transmission light appeared on the dashboard. I also asked Todd the service writer to check the brakes.
Later in the day Todd called me and said the good news is I don’t need a new transmission, but the 3^rd clutch pressure switch required replacement. He quoted me $ 855 to replace pressure switches, because this repair took 3−½ hours and required extensive disassembly to the transmission. He also quoted $ 320 per axel for brake pads and machined rotors. Holy schmoly does this guy think I am an idiot? I told him don’t do anything until I call back and authorize. I researched the pressure switch replacement online and called a few places with pricing between $ 250-​$ 325. I also discovered that repair time was less than 1−½ hours.
This was price gouging and recently the service department is under new management, because they had always treated me well on past visits.
After a few phone calls and questioning of the pricing Todd re-​quoted the pressure switch replacement at $ 550, but he reiterated most of the cost was 3−½ hours of labor. I was already stuck with a $ 155 diagnostic charge, which is subtracted from price of repair if authorized.
Around 11:15am I emailed Todd to proceed with pressure switch repair and at 12:20pm he left me a voicemail that the car was complete. 1 hour 15 minutes to repair. WTF this guy lied. When I picked up the vehicle I asked to speak to the Service Manager. His name is Dean. I explained that Todd lied about repair time, told him his competitors pricing and he became extremely defensive. He mentioned high costs of his union mechanics and blah blah blah. He knocked $ 100 bucks off the price to $ 448, or about $ 150 more than the most expensive competitor quote. I feel like I was duped by this place and will never take my vehicle here again.
Buyer beware of the price gouging practices.

The worst dealership. When I first purchased my used TSX about a year ago I thought it was a bad buying experience. Later realized it was just the beginning. Service is horrible to say the least. Calls are never picked up once redirected from the main desk. Impossible to get a hold of people. Quotes of repairs are always over the top. They do not even wash your car once the service is done. Manager is rude and so are the staff. I stopped going to this dealership and go elsewhere now.

THE Most Unprofessional and Ridiculous Sales Manager ON THE Planet. I was in there tonight at 830 with my boyfriend and my daughter. My boyfriend made a respectful and reasonable offer on an overpriced used car. The salesman went into the sales managers office and you can see the ridiculousness of the sales manager brewing. So then insted of the salesman coming out to discuss the offer by himself, the sales manager stormed out of his office half cocked. He came over soooooo rude and said he’s not making any deal on the car, price is the price. Lol! This car was priced way over what it should have been if the car was mint. It wasn’t. It needed touch ups on the paint, a new bumper and most importantly new rims. The rims were acura factory rims and they were scraped up so bad that the acura symbols were 90% scraped off… the car was beat up to say the least. We asked him if he is willing to fix any of the damage and in the most obnoxious cocky voice he said «no I will not… absolutely no!»
So we said if your not willing to negotiate, we’re gonna be on our way. So both the sales manager and salesman were like «byeeeeeeee! See ya! Good luck with your car search!!! Go someplace else and look»
So we were walking out and the sales manager followed us to our car… he was talking all this unnecessary nonsense to us because he heard my boyfriend mention to me that he dealt with the same sales manager last week and he was rude then too… so he went to our car, insisting that it wasn’t him we dealt with and that he didn’t appreciate being called rude… he told us we must be mad because we didn’t find a car today… Then I got into a verbal argument with him and he didn’t back down. I let him know that it was unnecessary the way he was acting. and how dare he come out to our car to argue in front of my three year old… She doesn’t need to see a grown buffoon arguing with us !!! I can’t believe this fool is representing the dealer !!!
So basically going there to negotiate is not worth your time or your aggravation. Go someplace more professional. You walk into this dealer and you can see a huge difference in the appearance of the employees and the way they act. That sales manager was a fool to say the least. I really think he was on some drugs. or something because grown men don’t usually act the way he did.
I’d never go here for anything ever again. There was absolutely no need for this guy to have the attitude he had much less, follow us outside for a confrentation while with my toddler !
Unilocal won’t post a review if you have only reviewed a few businesses. Please take some time to read what the other Unilocalers have said about this place under not recommended reviews. So sad and scary. Makes me want to only buy new cars. They sell some botched up cars here. They make it look pretty and new then you sign the dotted line and soon to come the problems arise! And according to these reviews ed napleton acura blows you off and doesn’t do anything to help. Once it’s yours, it’s yours … They will not take a car back. Check it out at your trustworthy mechanic first and make sure they check the car from top to bottom. And beware that one guy bought an acura certified car from them and when he got home to another state and had acura check it out they said no way this thing is acura certified… it wasn’t worth anything and was all rigged up beyond belief making the car worthless. He mentioned that he has pending legal action.
Save yourself the headache

Shady advertising on used cars as a minimum. They listed a good price on a 2008 Scion xD and I estimated an $ 8200 out-​the-​door cost until they showed me the real price. I had failed to include $ 300 of dealer fees and $ 700 for an interior warrantee. I told them that I had no interest in their interior warrantee and that they needed to remove it, but the immediate reaction was that it could not be removed. If that’s the case, then it should be included in the listed price. I effectively negotiated this out of the price before leaving, but I chose not to buy out of principle. I’m sure that other dealers are running similar scams, but none of us have to just accept this as standard practice. Call this dealer (or any other dealer) and ask about their extra fees before wasting time with them.

DON’T BUY a car for this dealership! I have bought many cars over the last 20 plus years and this is by far the worst experience that I have ever encountered. I have had similar issues that all the other reviews mention from sales to finance The biggest issue is that I purchased a use vehicle in March of 2014. It is almost august and I still do not have my license plates. This is all due to their ignorance and

Care less about there customers. I have spent way to much of my time tracking people down at this dealership. Four months of talking withy the dealerships title department and general manager Wil. Worst experience ever DON’T buy a car from this dealership.

Came here on a whim to see a car listed for sale on their website. Test drove it, convinced myself i wanted it, signed the credit application and started biting my nails thinking there is NO way im walking out with a car today. But it happened. Eddie and the team there are SO kind and willing to work with you. I traded in my mazda 3 and purchased a bmw with ease.
They arent the normal grimey types of salesmen, they actually give you the best honest deal they can offer. Real people here, no scams no trouble. Genuine people trying to get you a good car to go home in.

My only feedback is that they don’t really set the customer expectation up front, if you are waiting rather than a drop off. I’d suggest they set a timing expecations in advance — they are usually doing something positive but would be nice to have them communicate that… oil change can take at least an hour, even as first one in the door. Book appointments online and try and get in first! Bring a book. There is Wi-​fi and tv, coffee etc, but there is nothing nearby.
Bicycle tip — I usually bring my bike in the warmer months and hit the Salt creek trail just up the road while they work on the car.

We tracked down Ted Saras, he used to work for Woodfield Acura and we wanted to know if he could provide another great deal as we purchased our first Acura in 2007. Ted has excellent customer service and integrity, he’s far from the stereotypical sales consultant. Just as we thought, Ted was able to beat the lowest offers that we received. The drive from Skokie was well worth it as Ted’s service and deal was excellent. We will purchase our third Acura from Ted. Nalpelton’s gain is clearly Woodfield’s loss. Note: Do not make a trip to a dealership if they can’t provide their offer in writing, in other words, «We’ll give you the best deal» or «I’ll beat your best offer» is not enough. Have them actually provide a dollar amount, along with Documentation fee, Tax, Title transfer, license plate cost and destination fee. Ted is a rock star.

After going to the dealership a few more times (since both of the service managers left) things actually have improved. Oil change was a very quick turnaround, promptly taken care of after pulling in, and overall satisfied. A-​Ok but nothing more.
Service department — The service specialists are great and a pleasure to talk to. The waiting room is good with a decent TV and drink amenities. But the service takes way to long. Oil changes take 2 hours and if they are finishing up r to wait another 25 minutes. Would strongly suggest not taking a lunch from work here for simple jobs. Trust in a local mechanic or take it thru the oil drive thru (but bring your own filter). Such a drag since I enjoy seeing the service guys 4 times a year.
