Wow. Only *one* other review on here(as of 4−21−11), and it’s not Joy G.(ha!) for this wonderful place. Well, Robert O. is right on the money — their Arts and Music Festival(usually held around June of every year) is just an **awesome** event. One ticket, three stages with various music and live performers. Sometimes big name acts(saw Los Lonely Boys there one year; Ani DeFranco will be there THIS year!) sometimes not-so-big, but all just amazing performers and musicians. On this spectacular day, there will be an open air craft /vendor area, as well as food vendors(from BBQ to vegan fare, usually). Last year there was also a beer & wine tent, pretty sure there will be one this year as well. The only drawback — and I won’t deduct any stars for it – is the weather. Everything is totally out in the open, so if it’s sunny, you better come with sunscreen, an umbrella, and water. If it’s rainy, you better come with an umbrella and clothes to keep you dry. Be smart and plan accordingly. If you live in SJ and have not yet attended this festival, you are missing out on one of the BEST events our state has to offer, Period.

I’ve been to Appel Farm for two concerts: once for the festival and once in the inside theater. I was pleased with both events. In addition, Appel Farm has an educational program. Over the years I have seen many performances in the schools in which I have taught. All have been a hit. The festival blew me away. Here in little ol’ South Jersey was a real music concert. The fields were swarming with concertgoers. Things were relaxed and well-provided for. The indoor theater is «rustic», but that makes it charming. Old pews serve as the seats. Very Arlo-like. :) Everyone has always been pleasant and helpful. I will gladly attend events here. Check out their schedule, there is bound to be something of interest.
