Clem’s RV & Trailer Sales

This place was such a joke. We called and told George which trailer we wanted to come and look at. He told us to come up the following day after my husband got off of work to see it. We drove over an hour with 3 small children. When we got there and found George he had no idea which trailer we were talking about. He informed us that they were going to be having a store meeting starting (during store hours) and that we could wander around out in the lot and find the trailer we wanted to see. He said he would be about 15 minutes. We found the trailer outside and fell in love with it. We sat there for about 25 minutes. We went back in and all the employees were still in the meeting so we went back out to the trailer again. After another 15 minutes we came in again. Still in a meeting! My husband got upset and said out loud that we were leaving and that the place sucked. Some woman heard and got George out of the meeting. We told him we wanted the trailer and that we wanted to try to finance it. Our credit isn’t bad at all but it’s not great and we knew it is hard to get an RV loan.
They ran us around that store for 1 ½ hours (this is added to the hour we roamed on our own with a 7, 5, and 1 year old) doing financing and warranty and all that good stuff. Well it turns out the only reason they did that was because the new bosses were there and they wanted it to seem that they were selling so many trailers! We never got the loan and the finance guy NEVER called us back. My husband called 4 times one day and was told he was at lunch, helping another customer, etc. They sure kissed our butts in front of the bosses but after the fact we were treated like crap. The best part is that my husband wasn’t even calling to see if we got the loan. He was calling to let them know that we had the CASH to buy the trailer outright. He made sure to call and tell George that it was the worst customer service ever and that he would never buy a trailer from them. We have also informed many people at our campground about them. Including ours they lost 5 sales so far. But at least they looked good for those bosses!!!

Bought a brand new Wildcat off of Clem’s. Easy to buy off of. After about a month, we realized that there were a few things that needed fixed. No problem, because when you buy off of Clem’s, you get priority treatment — HA! What a joke! Called and made an appointment to bring it up in 2 weeks. Took it up and went over everything that needed addressed. (Mind you, the majority of these items were minor issues.) Was told it would probably be about 2 weeks. After waiting almost 3 weeks and never hearing anything from them, we called. All of the minor items had been taken care of (which probably took a total of about an hour to do). Hadn’t looked at anything else yet. Next day, we call because we were suppose to get a call back that never came. Going to have to order something, will take a week to get in. Wait another week. That item was addressed, but now they looked at the next item and were going to have to wait for the manufacturer to get back to them. Why did they not go over everything that was on the list when we dropped the camper off over 4 weeks ago at the appointed time they told us? Now we are waiting for them to address the last issue with the camper. VERY INEPT service department. I would NEVER RECOMMEND anyone buy a camper off of Clem’s unless you were sure you were never going to need service from them. RUN AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!! We are still waiting, last we heard maybe another 2 weeks. Please keep in mind, this is a brand new camper we bought off of them less than 2 months previous. POOR POOR SERVICE!!!

Great place to buy a trailer or RV. Sales team is super friendly and the service department is out of this world. Huge parts department — have something for everyone. Only place I go or would recommend to go. They offer an orientation with a purchase of every unit and have ²⁴⁄₇ technician hotline. I would love to hear of another dealer who has that because nobody does. They offer a service that nobody else has and I like that.

We ordered and purchased a brand new 1901 Mini Lite camper from Clems in July 2013.
The day we picked it up, we did the walk around and through with Jeff, the salesman who sold us the unit. We noticed a flaw in the fabric on the couch. The flaw is about 10 inches long, right on one of the cushion tops. It appears as threads had been missed or something else went wrong in manufacturer of the fabric. It looks and feels like a bare piece of base fabric. Almost like if you would pull a several threads that kept running and removing itself from the base of the fabric. Jeff told us not to worry about it, it would be taken care of. Jeff even had a young man that works there get a camera and take pictures of the flaw so it would be on record.
Well here we sit, it is now January 2014. After many, many calls to Clems, I was informed that they did all they can do and they are sorry but they CAN NOT HELP US. It is a problem WE will have to take up with the manufacturer. Our salesman Jeff assured us it would be taken care of, he had photos taken before we left the lot, to verify the defect. We would have NEVER accepted this unit if we would have known it was not going to be fixed. WE are very, very disappointed in our salesman Jeff and Clems. The only thing Clems service department can tell us is, they have talked to the camper manufacturer and the couch manufacturer, neither will repair or replace the couch. I believe if we wouldn’t have accepted it that day, it would have been repaired or replaced. However we had no choice but to take the camper and trust their word because we had vacation reservations at a campground in SC we needed to arrive 2 days after the pick up. The only reason we were cutting it so close is because the camper took longer than expected to come in because we were told… they had a COUCH shortage! Now that the camper has been accepted by us, we are at the mercy of the manufacturer to have it fixed. Even though we were assured by Jeff that it would be taken care of.
The service dept. at Clems did provide me with the Forest River customer service number so I can call them MYSELF!
I will try now to get this resolved on my own.
Our suggestion to anyone purchasing from Clems. If you see a flaw in your camper, DO NOT accept it until it is fixed to your approval. I can not stress that enough. DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR NEW UNIT UNTIL ALL IS REPAIRED TO YOUR APPROVAL! Or Clems will probably be giving you the manufacturers number so you can resolve it on your own.
We just wish companies and the people who work for them would honor their word. It certainly is a sad state of affairs when you are assured something will be taken care of, then you are left to try and get it fixed on your own.
I guess the old saying, «A MAN IS ONLY AS GOOD AS HIS WORD», really stands true.
