The Martyn House In Towne

My wife and I just popped in for a quick drink but found much more than we expected! This is an amazing place with a space for everyone — great back porch patio, great indoor living room with fireplace, great coffee bar space… I could go on. The drink was great and we feel like we found a gem in Ellijay.

Happened upon This modern day hippie chic place and sat back and enjoyed the coffee, sandwiches, tea and smoothies. Oh did I mention the backyard that is full of unique art objects from metal art, stained glass, clay modelings to antique lawn furniture. This is such a lovely place and Shanna takes care of you with such a sweet smile that welcomes you right in the the quaintness of it all. Will drive out of my way to go back here again and spend more time.

Charming coffee house with plenty of tables and nooks. Local artists display on the wall. Staff is always pleasant, coffee is always good. I usually make an effort to stop by when I’m in town.

Most excellent food and lovely assortment of coffee and teas. What really puts it over the top is that the ambience is just perfect. Came here to chill and study and found not only a plethora of seating options but outstanding music at the right level and a bevy of games to play. With the beautiful artwork and bright and airy coffee lounge, this place is definitely a must visit! Oh and those pickles… :)

PERFECTION!
Although I am not a coffee drinker, I still like to explore cozy coffee shops that are also great community spaces. If you are lucky, you will sometimes find delicious baked treats available. My husband and I walked into this coffee shop expecting something simple and casual.
However, we were floored when we walked into this unique space that kept unfolding into different areas. The building is perfect because it is old, authentic and has great character and features.
When you walk into the main area, you encounter a counter and section with an endless variety of coffees, teas and other drinks and a small sitting area. They also offered a limited menu of sandwiches and baked items. If you venture off to the left, you encounter another room with people who are sitting quietly and working on their computers at tables. In addition to the tables, this room had a very nice fireplace with a television, leather seating and a nice coffee table. Straight ahead of the main area you will encounter a rear hallway with the men and ladies’ room and a view of the back patio.
As you turn to re-​enter the main area, you will see a door on the left. This door is the gateway to all things cool and awesome. It is a large community room that includes great seating areas, work tables, a viewing area with a collection of CDs available. It was so beautifully and tastefully decorated, that I felt as if I was entering a private residence instead of a community room.
It was breath-​taking and my husband loved it just as much as I did.
This was easily our favorite encounter during our visit to Ellijay! It was just perfection!

What a great place! The environment is comfortable. The team is polite, friendly, helpful, and attentive. They have a classic-​looking La Marzocco espresso machine, Batdorf & Bronson beans, and know how to make ‘em shine together.
My mocha was spot on for me; not over-​sweet and the microfoam showed their skill in not over-​steaming the milk.
My daughter said her carmel frappé was the best she’s had and I agree; another showing of self-​control on the sweetness to create the best product.

Such a cool place to visit. They have very artistic décor, which apparently is all made by the owners. We went twice in two days because we loved this place. Good selection of coffees. They sell food but we didn’t try any. They have the friendliest staff and we had a good time. They also have art on sale, a library with books and board games for visitors. Overall a great set up and a wonderful find.

Im not a huge coffee aficionado, Im more of a husband of one. Im just a regular drip guy. However this is a neat coffee shop, and captures the true essence of mountain life. The friendly blond girl that works there is full of energy (and likely caffeine), but is a pleasure to speak with. I would recommend this place highly.

Excellent cappuccino !!! Friendly staff and very cool atmosphere… books, games and fireplace. Sandwiches are pretty good. Skip the cookies though.

By far the best coffee and lattes in Ellijay. The ambience is great sitting in front of the fireplace surfing the net and meeting new people. JoAnn serves up the best pannini’s in town. Definitely a great place to hang out in the mornings.

Best iced coffee within hundreds of miles– true cold brewed ice coffee– let alone Joanne and Rick –the owners — are best most gracious owners ever– really make you feel at home and welcome what a warm relaxing spot-​thank you!

This coffee house is wonderful. The aroma of fresh coffee is invigorating. I found the staff at the counter very nice and helpful with our order. I like the ambience they have taken on.
I can see they are a local favorite among the square.
I’d love to go back with a book and just enjoy some hot tea and chill out away from my farm.
If your visiting my local town please drop in and you will not be disappointed.

Since moving to Ellijay from Atlanta, I had yet to find a decent place to work on my laptop and maybe get a bite to eat or a drink. Now that I’ve found the Martyn House, my search is over.
The Martyn House has a pleasant artsy/​woodsy style that reminds me of mid-90’s coffee houses when that trend was at its peak. The interior is surprisingly spacious with a few different rooms furnished with various tables, chairs and couches.
The panini sandwiches are delicious and made with fresh-​baked bread. The staff is friendly and on weekdays there are plenty of available spots to eat, read, write or work.
I haven’t been to any of their evening events, but as a calm place to sit with a coffee or pastry for a while, The Martyn House is Ellijay’s best.

This place is a diamond in the rough. We’ve been to coffee shops all over the world and this one rates up there with the best. The coffee is great. The service isn’t lightning fast but the people are very nice. We appreciate all the little details throughout the shop, from the cell phone charging station to the stained glass inlaid in the fence. Truly a great place to visit.

Apart from having absolutely wonderful coffee and a friendly staff – two very important things for any coffee shop – the food is excellent. So, be sure to pick up something for lunch when you’re near by. You’re not going to be disappointed at all, I promise.

It’s not often you find such a gem as The Martyn House. Fantastic food made from scratch, amazing coffee, and the friendliest staff you could ask for.
Around 3 weeks ago, I happened across The Martyn House and fell in love… I have probably been in for coffee around 10 times since then. The lounge area is built to feel like a mountain home, complete with fire place and furnishings, are you kiffing me? How could I not spend all my time here. I work from my computer and it’s not easy to get quiet time at my house… thankfully Jo Ann has been kind enough to adopt me as a piece of her décor. My favorite place to work is on the couch by the fire.
P. S. I can’t wait to make it in one Saturday for a local band and one of their famous dinners. A PERFECT DATE NIGHT!

Cozy, lovely atmosphere and phenomenal food. Go to the listening room to hear some of the nation’s finest touring musicians in an intimate room with a great sound system. Chef Lorie should compete on Top Chef — she is incredible!
