Fresh clean delicious seafood. Small little establishment but oh so good. Little pricy but seafood any where isn’t cheap. Only open a few days a week so be there early cause has a following of loyal customers. Bön appetit

I’ve lived in Ellijay for over 20 years and have given this place a try a few times and EVERYTIME the food is awful and tastes not fresh ATALL even the waitress told us some of the food we ordered was prepackaged not fresh. Needless to say we won’t go back

First time and what a find. I had the Captains Platter, fried of course. They accommodated me w/a substitution gladly. Friend waitstaff, nice little place, excellent seafood prepared very well. It’s casual, no waiting list(honor system), small, we had a wait for a table on a Saturday night. As others have mentioned, 8 – 9 tables so there’s a wait when it’s busy. Looking forward to going back! Oh, open only three days a week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Best seafood in north Georgia. Hands down. My favorites are the sea bass, shrimp scampi, blackened scallops and crab cakes. We eat here about once a week. BYOB(which is cheaper than a place that actually serves alcohol) They will happily set you up. Servers are friendly and do a good job keeping everyone happy. There is most always a wait… it’s worth it.

Took my awesome, beautiful wife here to Jolly Roger’s Seafood for the first time on Feb. 13th for a(hopefully) special birthday lunch for her. Very happy to say that yeah, it was special. This place has a cool, hole-in-the-wall vibe I might find back home in New England, has fresh seafood to buy and take home… and we can eat-in, as we did on this Saturday morning. It ended up a bit less expensive than we thought it would, which is a good thing. As far as the food goes? WOW… boy, was this GREAT seafood. Grilled tuna steak was perrrrfectly cooked for my taste buds. Sides were great, too. Garden salad, was ok, just iceberg with a bit of other veggies. I like other greens in salad, myself. So, I got extra veggie side, which that day was stewed zucchini and tomato, which was very yummy. Our server was very nice, and I think it was the chef, maybe, who delivered our lunch? Very cool. Gosh, Ellijay has some really interesting and good places to eat, and there’s a 3 top favorites of our now… Jolly Roger being one of that top… as we love seafood! Thanks for making my wife’s b-day lunch special, folks at Jolly Roger’s…thanks very much!

I have a strict rule about seafood. Don’t expect good fresh seafood more than 50 miles from the coast. And that’s a good rule. Pretty much always true. Except for this place. Excellent shrimp, flounder filet, oysters, and even the scallops. I don’t know how they get that fresh of a fish supply all the way up there, but they do. First time was today, and it won’t be the last. Excellent service! Very nice waitress.

I love this tiny place. There are only 8 tables I think so you may have to wait. It’s a local favorite with loads of fresh options. The clams trips are fresh not frozen and excellent! The portions are good. Almost everything is homemade. Check specials for desserts. I would give five stars but I give four stars for occasional slow service and lack of seats while you wait. The parking is tricky too since it shares with a gas station. The food is always good and service is mostly good. But know your food will be great and fresh!

Just picked up lunch special shrimp and grits and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good; especially since I haven’t had it before. Service was good and the girls in the short shorts was a extra bonus! A definite bonus for Ellijay.

Well, the map isn’t correct. It’s actually 716 Industrial Blvd, Ellijay, in the same strip as the Marathon fuel station. Not off Dogwood Drive and Maddox Road as the Unilocal map shows.

Have been eating here for years and always loved it… since change of ownership/mgt, new waitress is abrasively rude and loves to make everyone think she’s boss… will not shut her loud mouth for one moment’s peace… really spoils what used to be a favorite meal. Just no where near the same!

GREAT fresh seafood. Come early if you don’t want to wait. This is a fish market first, and a restaurant second. Not much seating, probably only 8 – 10 booths.

We had a great meal at Jolly Roger and brought home fresh mussels and red snapper. Yum.

We eat here regularly, introduce others, and arrive early to avoid the usual waits as the Jolly Roger is very popular. By all means give it a try.

Eating here is what I imagine it’s like eating at, say, a Captain D’s, but at around 3 – 4 times the price. I can’t say for certain, as I’ve never actually eaten at Captain D’s, but I’m guessing it’s pretty damn close. Now, least you think«Hey, what do you expect eating at a place in the mountains called ‘Jolly Roger,’» let me assure you I had appropriately low expectations. And it was still bad enough for me to never want to eat here again. The food is over priced and heavy on the fried items, which was expected. But the quality was pretty poor, especially for $ 17 + per entrée. Mussels(steamed) were tough and flavorless. Fried stuff shrimp(yes, we ordered poorly) was clearly pre-fab and had been sitting in a freezer somewhere for quite some time. Same for fried coconut shrimp, with a terribly overly sweet and sticky sauce. Inside this place is a small seafood market where I’ve picked up a pound of shrimp on occasion.(I was too afraid to ask where they sourced their product, because ignorance is bliss. I’m guessing somewhere in Asia). Now, while the prepared food was pretty awful, I might have still dropped in the market every now and then when desperate. However. The absolute nail in the coffin for this place was when the haggard-looking waitress/hostess/whatever dropped off the check the second after our entrée plates hit the table. Seriously? Up to that point, we had been served by a David from Roseanne look-alike who was pretty unimpressive. Then chick drops the check and at that point I considered the meal a total loss. Best part was when she came back to pick it up and, after looking at the bill, asked if David look-alike asked us if we wanted coffee and dessert. Which, coming to the place, was the plan. Yeah, lady, that option pretty much closed once we were not so subtly told our meal was over. Service was so bad I tipped 15% and now I’m kinda mad I did because I think I probably over-tipped.
